Unit 2: LO2 (Edited and improved)

From my research in LO1 of different websites that sell and distribute video production equipment I
have decided to use the website Prokit, I have chosen to use this company because I think it has the
best range and quality in products for reasonable prices. Here is a list of the equipment I will need;
1. Camera (including memory)

I have chosen in my production to use one camera, this is the Sony PMW 150 camcorder, I have
chosen this camera because I believe it will be good choice as it is a state of the art camera. It will
also be good because in my production I dont need the camera to move as all the sets will be pre-
made with the camera set up correctly. Because of the use of sets I wanted a camera that would be
good and moveable by tri pots and jibs however it was not necessary to have a hand-help camera
therefore; I think this one will be good for the job. Also for this camera I want to get the Sony Alpha
50mm F1.4 Lens, I want to get this lens for the camera because I want to quality of the video
recording to be amazing.






2. Lighting kit

For the lighting set up I am going to get the Lowel SlimLightRifa Pro 2 kit. I want to get this lighting
kit because I think it has all the necessary lights I will need and it is a good price for the whole kit
compared to buying them separately. In this kit there are 2 hard lights and 1 soft light. The two
different lights will be good for my production as they can be used to create different effects, the
two hard light can be used for people and focusing on people facial expressions to capture their
emotions and the soft light can be used to create the background light and atmosphere. The other
lighting I want to get is an even bright LED light, for this light I want to get the Ikan IFB1024 Bi-Colour
Featherweight LED Light. I think this light will be good for my production because the production is a
drama therefore it is important that I can capture all of the action and to do this I could use this
brighter light to light up the whole scene to what I want it to look like. Also I will need some light
Gels to dim, texturize and change the colour of the lights depending on where the setting is and
what the atmosphere is.

3. Sound

In my production I will need a lot of sound equipment. Firstly I will need radio microphones,
for these I am going to get the Sennheiser ME66/K6 with Rycote Softie, Universal Grip and
Mount package. I think that this will be the best option because it is a good deal package all
the equipment, with a shot gun microphone, a grip and mount and also the sofie that goes
over the microphone. The other kind of microphone I will need is the person microphones
for each the character, for these I have chosen Sanken COS-11. I chose these because they
are good quality and a good price. Other than microphones to get the sound there are many
other things I need to record the sound and make it the best quality. For this I will need a
mixer, recorder and the cables to connect them all together. I am going to still use Prokit to
get all these; Sound Devices MixPre-D Mounting Bracket, Zoom H4N Portable Stereo
Recorder and the cable XLR, 3 pin plug to 3 pin socket, various length.



4. Tri pod

As well as the cameras I also need a series of tri pods to create different shots and make the footage
still and professional. For a standard tri pod I am going to get the Autocue Heavy Weight Tripod, I
want to get this tri pod because I think that it will be the best one to secure my camera. Not only will
a need a standard, non-moveable tri pod I also want to get dolly track and tri pod so that I can move
the camera in a steady, swift motion to follow the action without the camera jolting and looking
unprofessional. For this I am going to get the Wally Dolly 3m Kit from the Prokit website as it is a well
-known brand and a good value price. As wellbeing able to move the camera at eye level around I
also would like to be able to use different angles such us, a high angle. To do this I need the camera
to be higher and above everything else. For this technique I am going to get a jib or extension crane,
the one I am going to get is the Losmandy Porta-Jib Extension. I want to get this one because it
extends a long way which means I will be able to get a lot of height on my film. The last type of tri
pot I am going to get is a Steadycam Pilot, this is a type of tri pod that the cameraman actually wears
as like a harness around themselves that then the camera is connected to. This is a useful as it is a
different way of filming and can create some more interesting and unique shots. A steadicam pilot
can mostly become more useful because it is easier to travel with and set up to capture all the
action.

5. Monitors

For a monitor I am going to get the Marshall V-LCD51 5 inch HDMI Monitor, I am going to get this
monitor so I can look and see what footage I am getting throughout filming. This will be useful as it
was show the quality of the filming and see what improvements can be made to develop our film.
6. Accessories
Petrol Deca Raincover for Medium-Size Video Cameras. PR415 - 86
There are not many extra accessories I need to get as all the extras such as cables, I have already
included. The only accessories I thought would be most useful to get is a water proof rain cover for
my camera. The camera is one of the most important and expensive pieces of equipment therefor if
it got water damaged it would cost a lost to fix or even break. Because of this I want to get the Petrol
Deca Raincover for Medium-Size Video Cameras.
