It has been a great week at LMES.

As
you can see from the Calendar of
Events, we have a great deal scheduled
during the last few weeks of school.
For details on upcoming events, please
check your Parent Calendar that was
sent home earlier this month.
We are still in need of volunteers for
several of our upcoming events. If you
can help with La Fiesta and/or Field La Fiesta and/or Field La Fiesta and/or Field La Fiesta and/or Field
Day Day Day Day, please see the information on
page 4 to sign up to volunteer. Your
help will be greatly appreciated.
Once again, our PTO is offering school
supply kits. This information was sent
home today. If you wish to order
school supplies, please be sure to re-
turn your order form and check by
June 6th. Supplies kits will still be
available for order online through July
25th. Details for online ordering are
on the forms. We have also provided
a listing of the supplies for each grade
level, should you prefer to purchase these
yourself.
Next week we will have our Spring Book
Fair. On Monday, May 19th, bring your
family and shop for some great reading
material. Our family event begins at 4:00
pm and runs until 6:15 pm. The Book Fair
will run through May 21st.
If you have a rising kindergarten student or
know someone who does, dont forget
that our final Kindergarten Orientation will
be held on Tuesday, May 20th at 6:00 pm.
This is a wonderful opportunity for our
newest students to begin to feel at home in
their new school.
Today may be rainy, but the weekend
promises to be beautiful. Have a wonder-
ful weekend!

Dear Parents,
We have arrived at the point in the year when we
begin to make plans for the upcoming academic
year. We will soon begin the process of preparing
class rosters for next year. Time and effort are in-
vested so that classes meet the instructional needs
of children.
If you feel that your child has a special need or cir-
cumstance that you would like for us to consider,
please put your request in writing and forward it to
Boyd Hainsworth through delivery to the front of-
fice or through email to BHainswo@lexrich5.org.
Please include PARENT REQUEST in the subject
line of an email. Mr. Hainsworth will send a reply
email to your request, indicating that it was re-
ceived. Include in the letter the grade your child
will be entering and the characteristics/needs that
your child has that would require consideration.
Please do not include a specific teachers name, are-
as of certification, physical characteristics, etc. Re-
quest for a specific teacher will not be consid-
ered. The purpose of the letter is to share
things that we need to consider about your
child. All letters must be received by Friday,
May 16, 2014. Please understand that letters from
prior years are not considered. Letters must be
submitted annually.
Lexington-Richland Five
Kindergarten (5K)

School District Five of Lexington and Richland Counties
have begun enrolling five year olds for kindergarten.
Kindergarten registration will be ongoing.

dren meeting this eligibility deadline should bring the

ization, or a South Carolina Certificate of Medi-
cal or Religious Exemption
A property tax receipt or a rental lease show-
ing all occupants

correct home address
Picture identification (parent and/or guardian)
Yearbooks will be distributed to 4th and 5th grades
on Monday, May 19 and K-3rd grades on Tuesday,
May 20. If your child did not receive a yearbook
and one was ordered, please send us a copy of your
receipt. All yearbook issues need to be resolved
by Thursday, May 22. Extra yearbooks will go on
sale Friday, May 23 at 7:15 am, first come first
serve. The cost of the yearbooks will be $30.00.

Medication Pick-up from the Health Room
Thank you for allowing me to help with meet-
ing your child's health needs this year at
school. The end of the year is almost here
and we are making preparations for closing of the health
room. If your child has medication here at school, a par-
ent or guardian will need to pick up the medication be-
fore the end of the school year. For safety reasons, we
do not send medication home with students and
medications cannot be stored over the summer. Any
medications remaining will have to be disposed of ac-
cording to DHEC regulations. Please stop by the health
room to pick up your child's medication before the last
day of school. If you need to make special arrange-
ments, please call Nurse Echerer, at 476-4609.
Parents, if your student will need prescription medicine
to be given at school or if they have a chronic medical
condition , an Individual Health Plan and/or medication
form for the 2014-2015 school year will be mailed home.
These will be mailed to you at the beginning of summer
so that you can have them reviewed and signed by your
medical doctor prior to school starting in August. This is
extremely important! It helps us start the year off being
able to fully take care of your child's
medical needs at school. This is also
helpful to your doctor as they get an
overload of medication permission
forms and IHP approval forms to
sign at the beginning of the school
year!

JUMP ROPE TEAM TRY-OUTS
LIGHTNING STRIKES
AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION
JUMP ROPE DEMO TEAM

Students in grades K-4 are invited to try out for the 2014-2015 Light-
ning Strikes AHA Jump Rope Demo Team. Trying out does not
guarantee your child will be on the team. There will be 3 judges
from the American Heart Association. Parents are not allowed in
Dockside during auditions. Parents may wait in the gym as the
jumpers practice before their audition. Transportation from try-
outs is the parents responsibility. Jumpers are expected to have
the rising grade level try-out routine memorized. If they mess-up,
that is OK. We do not expect perfection. How they handle a mis-
take is more important. Deadline to sign up for try-outs is May 16,
2014.

For all jump rope routines and details go to Mrs. Plemmons'
webpage:
