Ripple the Water Spirit

Once upon a time in the deep blue sea there lived a kind water spirit named Ripple. She lives at the
bottom of the sea with the sea spirit, the ruler of the sea. She spent her days dancing, playing and
making necklaces out of pearls and seashells.
SONG FOR THE RIPPLE (under the sea tune):
Under the sea, under the sea
Darling its better
Down where its wetter
Under the sea

One day while she was swimming near the surface
Ripple : (gasp) There is a storm right ahead
There is a ship caught in the middle
It is sinking it is sinking
The poor, poor thing
Ripple watch helplessly as the ship sank to the bottom of the sea. But from the wreckage of the ship
she saw something
Ripple : Theres something floating
(Ripple swam to the wreckage, finds a boy)
Ripple : (gasp) There is a boy aboard the ship
The ship sank to the bottom of the sea
The boy is drowning, he is dying,
The poor, poor thing
Then Ripple heard a cry, a womans cry from the distance. It came from the seashore. So he swam to
the voice and she founds a woman crying on the sands. That must be his mother thought Ripple. So
he went ashore and put the boy in front of the woman.
Woman : (crying) My baby. Hes dead. Please water spirit, cant you do something? Help save my boy
Ripple : I cant. I may be a spirit but I have no power to bring back the dead. Maybe my friend the sea
spirit knows what to do. I will ask her. Wait here till I return. I will help save the boy.
So Ripple went to consult the sea spirit. She told her everything she saw from the wreckage to the poor
woman that lost her son.
S.S : Sorry ripple, I too, am powerless to do such thing as to bring back the dead. The only way is to
ask for fire of life from Fire Spirits. But he lives far away and the route is dangerous. Dont go, Ripple
Ripple : But I have promised the mother I will save her son. I will go. Do not worry my friend, I will be
fine. Look after the mother while I am gone. I will return to keep my promise
And thus Ripple embarks on a journey to find Fire Spirit. On the way to the Fire Spirits home, Ripple
went through a meadow. It was warm, the birds are singing and the flowers are blooming
SPRING SONG (You Are My Sunshine tune):
The spring is coming, the spring is coming
The crickets and birds
Sing happily,
Flowers are blooming,
And I am happy,
So please dont take my sunshine away

Spring : Hello there friend. You dont seem familiar. Youre not from these areas dont you?
Ripple : Ah, hello good friend. I am not from around here. My name is Ripple, I am a water spirit.
Spring : Ah, a guest from the sea. I am Spring, spirit of the season. Where are you going, Ripple?
Ripple : I am on a journey to find the fire of life at the Fire Spirits home
Spring : (shocked) Oh no, little Spirit you must not go there! The Fire Spirits lives far away and the route
are dangerous. Dont go Ripple, you wont make it
Ripple : So I heard. But I have promised. I must keep my promises
Spring : (amazed) You are a very kind spirit. Well then let me help you. Here, take this. This is a breeze,
and you can ride it to reach the Fire Spirits home. You will meet my sister, Summer. If you tell her about
your journey she might help you, because she too is a kind and warm hearted spirit
Ripple : (Rides the breeze) Thank you, Spring.
So Ripple went off, riding the breeze of the spring. He passed through yet another meadow. It is hot,
the birds are chirping happily and the trees bear fruits.
SUMMER SONG (You Are My Sunshine tune):
Summer is coming, summer is coming
The birds are singing
The skies are bright
The weather is hot
And I am sweating
So please bring your umbrella today

Summer : Hello there friend. You dont seem familiar. Youre not from these areas dont you?
Ripple : Ah, hello good friend. I am not from around here. My name is Ripple, I am a water spirit
Summer : Ohohoho a guest from the sea! I am Summer, spirit of the season. Where are you
going, Ripple?
Ripple : I am on a journey to find the fire of life at the Fire Spirits home
Summer : (gasp) Oh no, little spirit you must not go there! The Fire Spirits lives far away and the
route are dangerous. Dont go Ripple, you wont make it
Ripple : So I heard. But I have promised. I must keep my promises
Summer : (amazed) Well then, let me help you! Here take the sunbeam from my crown. It will
keep you warm when the weather is cold, and lights the path when it is dark. Go meet my sister,
Autumn. She is a kind hearted spirit and will be happy to aid you in your journey Ripple
Ripple : Thank you, sister Summer.
And off again she goes. She went through yet another meadow. This time it is rather cold. So she took
out the sunbeam and it kept her warm. It wasnt as bright as it used to be, but the sunbeam lights her
path.
AUTUMN SONG (Jingle Bell tune) :
Autumns here, autumns there
Leaves are everywhere
Windy and cold outside there
Lets enjoy the day

Autumn : Ah, hello there. You dont seem familiar. Youre not from these areas dont you?
Ripple : Ah, hello good friend. I am not from around here. My name is Ripple, I am a water spirit
Autumn : (giggles) A guest from the sea! My name is Autumn, spirit of the season. Where are you
going Ripple?
Ripple : I am on a journey to find the fire of life at the Fire Spirits home
Autumn : (gasp) Oh my, oh my. Little spirit you must not go there. The Fire Spirits lives far away
and the route are dangerous. Dont go Ripple, you wont make it
Ripple : So I heard. But I have promised. I must keep my promises
Autumn : (smiles) You are a kind spirit. Very well then. You will need my help in your journey.
Here, take this leaf. It will protect you from the harsh weather and keep you warm. Keep going and you
will meet my sister, Winter. She may be cold, but she got the heart as warm as the sun. She will help you
in your journey
Ripple : Thank you, sister Autumn
Again off she goes. This time she goes through another meadow. It was snowy and everything was
covered in white. It was cold and Ripple felt the chill to her bones. So she took out the leaf and wore it
like a cloak and the sunbeam to light the path. It kept her warm.
WINTER SONG (Jingle Bell tune):
Winters here, winters there,
Snows are everywhere,
Cold and freezing outside there,
Wear your coat today

Winter : Hi there little ones. You dont seem familiar. Youre not from these areas dont you?
Ripple : Ah, hello good friend. I am not from around here. My name is Ripple, I am a water spirit
Winter : (giggles) What an occasion. A guest from the sea! My name is Winter, spirit of the season.
Where are you going Ripple?
Ripple : I am on a journey to find the fire of life at the Fire Spirits home
Winter : (serious tone) Little spirit you must not go there. The Fire Spirits lives far away and the route
are dangerous. Dont go Ripple, you wont make it
Ripple : So I heard. But I have promised. I must keep my promises
Winter : (amazed) You are a kind spirit, Ripple. So I will aid you in your journey. The Fire Spirit lives near
the sun, and the route is dangerous. He himself is not very welcoming. He is quite boastful and arrogant,
and you might face some difficulties to ask for his fire of life. Here, take this snowflake. It will help you
go through when the weather is hot. You are a water spirit, if it is too hot you will die. Take care of
yourself and please be safe, Ripple
Ripple : Thank you, sister Winter. I will
Riding the breeze, off she goes to Fire Spirits home. The weather is getting hotter and hotter. The leaf
starts to wrinkle and it can no longer serve Ripple. But the snowflakes kept Ripple alive. After a few
moments she finally arrives at the Fire Spirits home

Fire Spirit : Who dares to step into my domain?
Ripple : (bow) Oh, great Fire Spirit. It is me, Ripple the water spirit.
Fire Spirit : A spirit of the sea. What do you want?
Ripple : Oh great ones, I have come this far to ask for your help. I needed the fire of life to save a child
who drowned after a shipwreck. Please help me oh kind hearted spirit.
Fire Spirit : The fire of life is my most valuable object. Out of all the things that shine, the fire of life
shines the brightest. I cant give it away to you. (stares at Ripples pearl necklace) Unless (ponders)
Unless you trade that beautiful gem on your neck to me. I have never seen such beautiful gem that
shines so bright. If you give it to me I will give the fire of life to you
Ripple : (happily) Of course! You can have them. I am willing to trade this pearl necklace for the fire of
life! (hands over the necklace)
Fire Spirit : Alright. I will give you this fire of life. Now begone from my palace. I want to spend
some time with my new precious (laughs maniacally)
Ripple : (backs away slowly)
And so Ripple went back to the sea. She told the Sea Spirit about her journey and showed her the fire
of life she obtained from the Fire Spirit. Then she swam ashore to where the woman and her son are
waiting. She put the fire of life in his chest and the boy is back to life. The woman thanked Ripple for
saving her son.
