NARRATIVE REPORT
I. INSIGHTS
-What have I learned from the experience?
Despite of the controversies wherein most of the time government officials are the
main headline of the news due to the illegal things they are doing, still there is an
optimistic side that we must honor. They are the group of people working together on
the different government agencies with the mission of giving their full time service in
order to make a change which our country really need for a long period of time.
Government employees are one of the new heroes of this generation aside from the
Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) who work abroad for the sake of their family,
because they are dedicated in order to respond with the needs of the citizens. As I was
assigned at the Infrastructure Staff ICTD of National Economic and Development
Authority (NEDA) it is responsible to evaluate and monitor the government projects
as well as the lead for Socio-Economic indicators. It is a big responsibility at the
back of each employee to review those projects taking into consideration if it will be
effective not only for the side of the Filipino people but also with the economic
condition of our nation. I admire their dedication with their work, as every day I have
observed that they are busy preparing for the task that are assigned to them. It might
also happen that they are considering their weekends as weekdays just to prepare their
unfinished work from the office and bring it home: the opportunity cost for them not
to take their rest and just relax is to finish those documents that are required for the
next week. Whats amazing with this is the fact that they are enjoying their work no
matter how hard the task is, for as long as they see the fruit of their hard works. They
have given me the opportunity not just to have an overview of what they are actually
doing but they have given me the privilege in order to have a deeper understanding
regarding what the Staff is all about.

-My experience with the people around me.
The whole Infrastructure Staff employees are definitely kind and helpful in any
aspect, whenever you approach them. As an intern, it is a nature maybe in our side
that we might feel nervous and uncomfortable on the firm where we are going to
render our service/duty for the practicum; because seriously speaking we do not have
any idea on what we are going to do. Is our capacity to do several things can actually
reach their expectations on whatever task will be assigned to us? But these doubts
were definitely wrong because INFRA Staff ICTD are really approachable specially
at times that you really need their help. They are a picture of a family not connected
by bloods or surnames but with the friendship that grows throughout the years..
Though it is given that they are always busy with their work still there is a time to
laugh and enjoy their life. Like what they have said We work hard but we play
harder. You will be amazed on how intelligent they are, because most of the time
they are talking about the issues that are related to our economy. From there you will
hear their different thoughts that has basis, a scenario that would show on how
concerned they are in order to make a change and keep the country in progress. They
have their wit inside but still they choose to remain humble every time. Each one of
them have the freedom in order to express their opinions, though there is a hierarchy
of position from top to bottom still there is a respect that exist which is a good thing
Through this internship I was able to gain more knowledge which I can utilize on the
other aspect of my life as well as enhance my social ability to interact with other
people and learn how to approach them which is an evidence that you are improving.
-The most memorable event during my internship
Well for me, every day is a memorable day of my internship starting on the day
that I submit my resume at National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA)
as an intern this summer. I learned how to travel all by myself to Manila without the
guidance of my parents. I was able to conquer the fears that I felt inside hearing those
pessimistic things that might happen while you are here especially when you are
riding on a cab or jeep. While as an OJT Trainee at the Infrastructure Staff ICTD I
cannot deny the fact that I feel contented and happy on the department where I was
assigned because employees here help me a lot in order to gain knowledge and treated
me as one of the members of their family which is a good thing for me to better
understand the reality of working in an establishment/ firm. They let me work on
several task wherein I have to research what the topic is all about, make a comment
on a memorandum given, attend on a meeting where I was able to meet different
people coming from the different agencies and have a free-food which made my
stay here more enjoyable. Since the Staff where I belong is assigned on the
Infrastructure Section of the Philippine Development Plan I was able to know deeper
on what does this PDP all about. I will never forget the advice of my supervisor every
time that she is checking my Daily Accomplishments Journal that it is better if I will
indicate the things where I actually used my hypothalamus in order to think instead of
indicating literally what I actually do because it is better. Despite of the other things
she might be busy with due to the paper works she is doing, she never fails to check
my journal if there is something wrong before she will signed it and comment on
what are the possible things I might do; this things definitely make me improve as a
student and at the same time as an intern here. Furthermore, all of them were like my
professors teaching different things and it is related with the course that I currently
taking up there will times when I will hear the topic of Gross Domestic Product,
Revenues, Expenditure, Surplus, Deficit, Fiscal policy and others. This internship
definitely made me more concerned about the current condition of the Philippine
government unlike before wherein I usually disregard the things when it comes to
government matters.
OBSERVATION
-Likes:
Employees at Infrastructure Staff were really dedicated with their work
they are really hardworking and intelligent.
They give me task that is related with what they are currently doing and at
the same time I learned from it.
You will never feel that you are an outcast all throughout the whole staff
because they will treat you as their new member.
I have given the opportunity to attend several meetings with the different
agencies which help me to gain more knowledge not only in the field of
study but also with the current condition of the government projects.
I definitely enjoy the free-foods that were given every time there is a
meeting
I was located at a well-ventilated place which made my entire stay here at
INFRA STAFF comfortable.
-Dislikes:
There is neither a slow internet connection nor no internet connection
sometimes which a big problem because the entire staff really needs it for
their daily operation.
II. RECOMMENDATION/SUGGESTIONS
It a good thing that we render our duty as an intern here at National
Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) because you will be exposed on
the works and tasks that are primarily relevant regarding the things that this
government agency deals with. What will make you enjoy your stay here are the
different variation of works that will be assigned to you. It is not consistent on the
day you start until the day you will be able to finish your practicum, because if
this things will happen possibly you will feel that youre bored because your
marginal utility on your entire stay here is decreasing as a result your optimal
basket was not satisfied. I definitely recommend this government agency with the
other interns searching for establishment were they will render their duty because
you will learn a lot here not just only by words but also with experience.
