FCCI Welcomes James Kotas as Newest Addition to Team

SARASOTA, Fla. June 3, 2014 Sarasota-based FCCI Insurance Group (FCCI) today
announced the hiring of James Kotas as its new government affairs specialist. In this role, Kotas
will serve as a liaison between FCCI and the legislative system representing FCCIs legislative

We are excited to have James Kotas join our team here at FCCI, said Robert Hawken, director
of Legislative Affairs. His expertise in the political arena will complement our advocacy efforts
and will allow our team to further propel our legislative actions forward on behalf of our
policyholders and principals.

FCCI has a long history in the State of Florida, and I am thrilled to be a new member of this
established team within the insurance industry, said Kotas. I look forward to utilizing my
legislative, agency and communications background to expand upon FCCIs legislative goals and
help implement solid political and campaign strategies that FCCIs membership can rely on for
years to come.

Prior to joining FCCI, Kotas served as the chief of staff to Florida Senator Aaron Bean (R-
Fernandina Beach), where he was responsible for crafting legislation; identifying emerging state
regulatory changes impacting Florida; representing the Senator before the Legislative and
Executive branch, stakeholders and district constituency; and developing and executing public
relations and media strategies for the State Senate Office.

From 2010 to 2012, Kotas served as an legislative aide to Florida House Deputy Majority Leader
and Majority Whip Dana Young (R-Tampa). From 2009 to 2010, Kotas served as a principal of
JGK & Associates, Inc., a governmental consulting and public affairs firm in Tampa, Fla. From
2007-2009, he served as the legislative affairs director for the Florida Department of Business
and Professional Regulation. Prior to that, Kotas also served as the director of government
affairs for the Victory Group.

Kotas community involvement includes affiliations with E-Merge, Tampa Bay Chamber of
Commerce and the American Cancer Society, Walk for the Cure Fundraiser.

Kotas is a graduate from the Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in Political
Science and a minor in Communications.
