Katy Perry Biography

Katy Perry (Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson) was born in Santa Baraba California, on the 25
th

October 1984. Katy Perry is a singer, songwriter and actress. When Katy was younger she
sang Christian music as she was living in a very strict religious household and her mother
would only allow her to listen to Christian music. When Katy became older she became
interested in mainstream music. In April 2007 she signed a record contract with Capitol
Records. She rose the charts with I Kissed a Girl followed which became the first album recorded by
a female artist in history to produce 5 number 1 billboard hits, and the second album overall after
Michael Jackson (1987).
Katy Perry has topped the charts with many of her songs. Firework from her album Teenage
Dream came in the top 5 pop single charts in at least 20 countries worldwide. It has sold over 5
billion digital copies and was nominated for Grammy Awards for best Pop Solo Performance and
Record of the year.
Roar from her album Prism quickly rushed to number #1 on pop charts. Roar received some
praise for its inspirational lyrics. It also reached top 5 in France, Germany, Italy and Switzerland.
