Frozen (2013)

The film begins with several ice harvesters collecting ice out
from a frozen lake in the cold regions of the land ("Frozen
eart")! "mong them is an #$%ear old bo% named &ristoff with
his reindeer calf' (ven! "fter collecting enough ice' the
harvesters de)art to the kingdom of "rendelle late at night! "t
the same time' in a castle that ruled a great land' *$%ear old
+rincess "nna wakes her elder sister' #$%ear old ,lsa to )la%!
,lsa )la%full% brushed her sister off until it was suggested the%
build a snowman' to which ,lsa delightfull% agrees! The sisters
head into the castle-s throne room and create a winter field of
snow using ,lsa-s snow magic' en.o%ing their time with )lent%
of merriment! The% build a snowman' who ,lsa names /laf'
and likes warm hugs! owever when ,lsa hits "nna with her
)owers in an attem)t to save her little sister from falling' the
ro%al famil% .ourne%s to the legendar% 0alle% of the 1iving
2ock to seek the hel) of trolls who remove the magic from
"nna' and her memor% of her sister-s magic abilit%! 3n order to
)rotect ,lsa from the world until she can learn to control her
)owers' she is ostracized from ever%one' including "nna'
leaving both sisters distraught and lonel%! 4es)ite "nna-s best
attem)ts ("4o 5ou 6ant to 7uild a (nowman8")' she is unable
to rouse ,lsa from her room! Their des)air onl% escalates when
their )arents die 10 %ears later' after the% go on a shi) that
ca)sizes when a storm eru)ts!
Three %ears later' it is the da% of ,lsa-s coronation ceremon%!
4ignitaries from around the world are coming to visit'
including the 4uke of 6eselton' who wants to run "rendelle-s
)rofits dr%! 9obod% is more e:cited than "nna' as the% are
finall% o)ening the gates to the kingdom! (he is ha))% to see
other )eo)le' and ho)es for the )ossibilit% of meeting that
s)ecial someone' but ,lsa is still concerned about tr%ing to
control her )owers ("For the First Time in Forever")! "s she
strolls out onto the streets' she bum)s into a horse' which
ha))ens to belong to the charming and handsome +rince ans
of the (outhern 3sles! Though angered at first b% the
clumsiness of the stranger' once "nna la%s his e%es on him' she
is attracted b% ans-s a))earance and looks! The coronation
goes off without a hitch' des)ite ,lsa-s fears and she even takes
time to connect with her sister at the )art%! Flustered at first'
"nna-s interaction with her sister brings ;uite the delightful
feeling to the )rincess' and seeing ,lsa so ha))% instead of
serious and )reserved boosts "nna-s confidence' )rom)ting her
to continue on with the conversation before the%-re interru)ted
b% their steward' &ai' who introduces the snide 4uke of
6eselton' who offers ,lsa her first dance as ;ueen! ,lsa
)olitel% declines the offer but instead )la%full% volunteers
"nna' much to the 4uke-s delight' nonetheless' and the two
head off into a comical dance scene! 3n during which' seeing
"nna innocentl% flustered b% the 4uke-s over$the$to) dancing
skills' ,lsa couldn-t hold back a chuckle' causing "nna to feel
.ust as whimsical about the entire matter' for seeing ,lsa in
such a state hasn-t been a sight for %ears! "fterwards' "nna
returns b% ,lsa-s side' commenting on how well things have
been going through the da%' and e:)resses her wishes to have
things the wa% the% were that night all the time! <nfortunatel%
all at once' ,lsa-s smile fades awa% and she reluctantl% denies
"nna-s wishes' though fails to e:)lain wh% so! "nna and ans
then sneak off to s)end the evening together' ;uickl% realizing
the mutual attraction between them! The romantic dance
eventuall% leads to an entire date ("1ove 3s an /)en 4oor")'
with the entire night of the %oung cou)le being s)ent bonding!
4uring their time together' ans learns of "nna-s longing of
having someone s)ecial in her life' with her sister a))arentl%
develo)ing a dislike of being around her b% suddenl% shutting
"nna out one da% when the% were kids' to which ans o)enl%
relates to' onl% furthering "nna-s connection with him! "nd
with this' ans )romises to never shut "nna out' unlike ,lsa'
much to the )rincess- absolute .o%! 7% the end of their tour
throughout the kingdom' ans )ro)oses right on the s)ot' and
"nna immediatel% acce)ts! The two head back the ballroom'
where "nna asks for ,lsa-s blessing on the marriage! ,lsa-s
baffled b% the shocking news' but "nna and ans couldn-t
a))ear more e:cited' going on to ramble about the wedding
arrangements! ,lsa ceases the sudden rambling b% den%ing the
marriage' much to "nna-s heartbreak! The ;ueen asks to s)eak
to "nna alone in )rivate' likel% to finall% confess her abilities
and wh% it-s not wise to marr% a total stranger without causing
a scene that would surel% get her true magical nature e:)osed'
but the %ounger )rincess refuses an% )rivate conversation'
stating whatever ,lsa has to sa% can be said to both her and
ans! 7ecoming frustrated' ,lsa outright forbids "nna of
marr%ing someone she .ust met' indirectl% telling the )rincess
she knows nothing about true love' causing "nna to hiss back'
telling ,lsa all she knows is how to shut )eo)le out! "lthough
,lsa is visibl% hurt b% this' ,lsa continues to refuse' and the
argument onl% worsens when ,lsa orders the guards to end the
)art% and close the gates! ,lsa refuses to grant her blessing on
the marriage' setting off an argument between the sisters and
culminating in ,lsa-s abilities being e:)osed to the )art%
guests!
+anicking' ,lsa flees with "nna in hot )ursuit! "s she becomes
more stressed and )anicked' the weather starts turning colder=
snow begins to fall and ,lsa races across the f.ord' freezing it
with each ste) but turning the whole bod% of water into ice'
tra))ing all the shi)s before s)reading throughout the rest of
the kingdom! aving fail to retrieve her' "nna and ans
returns to the castle court%ard' where the guests have
gathered! The 4uke of 6eselton begins to )anic as it eeril%
begins snowing' declaring the% must take action and )ut an
end to ,lsa-s curse' but "nna refuses and volunteers to seek out
,lsa herself and make things right' feeling its her fault for
)ushing her! 6ith ans being left in charge of the kingdom'
"nna heads off on her horse to begin her search for her sister!
(he makes it to the 9orth >ountain where she laments her
failure at kee)ing the )owers contained but ;uickl% becomes
more and more at ease and rela:ed' free to use her )owers as
she )leases (singing "1et 3t ?o"' creating a snowman (the same
one she and "nna built when the% were %oung)' an ice castle'
and an ice dress)!
6hile searching for ,lsa' "nna loses her horse in the )rocess!
(he travels on foot until nightfall' where she finds herself at
6andering /aken-s Trading +ost and (auna! (he asks the
sho) owner' /aken (@hris 6illiams) for winter boots and
dresses! (he makes small talk with him' then meets &ristoff
(Aonathan ?roff)! "nna convinces &ristoff to take her to the
9orth >ountain' where the source of the winter is coming
from! /n their .ourne%' the% get attacked b% wolves' causing
&ristoff to lose his sled! The% continue on foot' and meets /laf
(Aosh ?ad)' the snowman ,lsa created' who seems to be alive!
/laf shares his dreams of e:)eriencing summer ("3n
(ummer")' and agrees to lead them to ,lsa-s hideout!
The gang makes it to ,lsa-s castle! "nna and ,lsa reunite' and
while both are ha))% to see each other' ,lsa still harbors fears
of wounding "nna once again! 4es)ite "nna-s )romising to
stand b% her sister and hel) her' ,lsa onl% grows more agitated
and nervous resulting in her magic flaring' this time striking
"nna in the heart! ,lsa' in des)eration to get her sister to
safet%' creates a giant snow creature (that /laf calls
">arshmallow") to throw them out! "s revenge' "nna balls u)
a snowball and throws it at the giant beast! Though it left
literall% no damage whatsoever' the lack of res)ect was enough
to infuriate >arshmallow' causing him to chase "nna' &ristoff'
and /laf down the northern mountain' most likel% to eliminate
them!
>arshmallow manages to corner them at the edge of a cliff'
though &ristoff immediatel% begins digging a snow anchor'
using a ro)e to safel% guide himself and "nna down the
mountain to safet%! owever' >arshmallow catches u) to
them' though /laf tries to sto) him! "nno%ed' >arshmallow
kicks /laf over the cliff' and continues his chase for "nna and
&ristoff' )ulling them u) to his face b% the ro)e' and ordering
them once more to never return' .ust before "nna grabs
&ristoff-s knife' cuts the ro)e' the sends the duo )lummeting
down' though the% survive! 6ith his mission to drive them
awa% com)lete' >arshmallow returns to the ice )alace! "fter
the% esca)ed the snow monster' &ristoff notices that "nna-s
hair is turning white' and he takes them to seek hel)! &ristoff
leads "nna (who is slowl% freezing) to the trolls! " mi:$u)
occurs' and the trolls insist "nna and &ristoff get married
("Fi:er <))er")! 7efore the two can be wed b% ?othi The Troll
+riest' "nna colla)ses and ?rand +abbie a))ears! "ccording
to him' onl% an act of true love can thaw a frozen heart or else
"nna will freeze solid! &ristoff races back to "rendelle to get
"nna to ans' believing true love-s kiss will save her!
>eanwhile' ans' on a search for "nna after her horse returns
to the kingdom without her' and the guards find the ice castle!
The moment the% come close enough' >arshmallow reveals
himself from the form of snow% boulders in case more
unwanted guests were to arrive! and .um)s right into battle!
The soldiers immediatel% attack the beast with their arrows'
infuriating >arshmallow and causing his ultimate form to be
unleashed! >arshmallow is able to hold most of the guards off'
though ans )roves to be a fierce warrior' himself' avoiding
each of >arshmallow-s attacks and eventuall% using his sword
to slice the snow monster-s leg off' causing him to lose balance
and begin tumbling over to a large gorge! 6ith >arshmallow
wounded' ans begins heading inside ,lsa-s castle' but
>arshmallow doesn-t give u)' giving one last swing in attem)t
to drag ans down with him! <nfortunatel%' he fails' and the
giant snow beast )lummets down into the chasm below'
a))arentl% to his death! 6hile ans battles >arshmallow the
duke-s men attack ,lsa who fights back' nearl% killing them
both much to her own horror! Aust as ,lsa was about to
murder the two' ans a))ears and sto)s her' telling her not to
)rove she-s the monster the% believe she is! ,lsa settles down a
bit at ans- words' realizing the demon she was becoming and
halts her magic! owever' one of the soldiers aims his arrow at
,lsa' still following the 4uke-s orders' and .ust as he is about to
shoot her' ans intervenes' causing the arrow to cut through
,lsa-s chandelier which then )lummets towards the ground!
,lsa tries to esca)e the collision' but is knocked out in the
)rocess! ans and the soldiers then ca)ture her and head back
to the kingdom! (he wakes u) shackled in a cell back in
"rendelle @astle! ans )leads with her to undo the winter but
,lsa re)lies that she can-t due to the fact that she is unable to
control her )owers!
"nna is returned to ans' freezing more and more cold and
sick b% the minute! (he tells ans ever%thing that has
ha))ened and ho)es he will kiss her and break the curse' but
instead' he cruell% reveals that he had been )retending to love
her the whole time' as )art of a fiendish )lan to seize control of
"rendelle-s throne' because he is the %oungest of thirteen
brothers and will never reach the throne in his own kingdom!
"nna tries to sto) him' but she is far too weak! e )uts the fire
out to )revent "nna from getting an% heat and warmth and
leaves "nna to freeze to death! Then he tells the 4uke and the
kingdom-s officials what "nna told him' in addition l%ing that
he was too late to save her' and )retending to grieve for her' as
)art of his )lan' he sentences ,lsa to death!
,lsa esca)es from )rison when she learns ans means to have
her e:ecuted for treason and heads out into the blizzard on the
f.ord! >eanwhile' in the castle with ans having betra%ed
"nna and revealing himself to be a ruthless murderer' "nna-s
curse becomes stronger and her death )rocess is nearl%
com)lete! 6hen /laf arrives' he finds "nna in the librar%' on
the ground and ;uickl% d%ing! /laf comes to "nna-s rescue and
starts a fire to kee) the )rincess warm! /laf then asks what
ha))ened with the true love-s kiss from ans' to which "nna
reveals his treacher% and ans never loved her! Fearing he-ll
melt' "nna tells /laf to leave' but not wanting to abandon his
friend' the snowman sta%s b% her side' nearl% melting during
this time! "nna brokenheartedl% tells /laf she doesn-t even
know what love is an%more! /laf re)lies b% telling "nna love is
)utting someone else before %ourself' using &ristoff as an
e:am)le' thus revealing his true feelings to "nna' much to the
)rincess- sur)rise! (uddenl%' the librar%-s window bursts o)en
due to the strong winter winds' and /laf rushes to close it!
7efore he does' he notices &ristoff and (ven rushing back to
the castle! &nowing &ristoff is trul% the one that loves "nna'
the two tr% to head out to meet him! /laf then aids the d%ing
)rincess out of the castle and into the f.ords! The two then
travel together out on the f.ord to find him' where he is racing
back to the kingdom! 6ith a sword at hand' ans is )re)ared
to sla% the ;ueen' and eventuall% stumbles u)on her' telling her
she can-t esca)e all the horrible things she-s alread% done! ,lsa
)leads for merc%' still believing ans to be a benevolent )rince
and asks him to take care of her sister for her! ans cuts ,lsa
off and tells her "nna is dead because of her! 4evastated b% the
horrific news' ,lsa breaks down in tears! 3n ,lsa-s des)air' the
storm immediatel% sto)s' giving &ristoff and "nna the chance
to reach each other! 7ut at that moment' "nna hears a sword
being drawn a short distance awa%! 3n horror' "nna sees that
ans is about to kill her sister! "nna must choose to save
herself or her sister' which is onl% seconds awa%! "fter one last
look at &ristoff' she makes her decision to save ,lsa' throwing
herself between ,lsa and ansB she freezes solid .ust as ans-
sword hits her instead of ,lsa' breaking the sword and also
causing ans to be brutall% knocked out unconscious! "fter a
few moments of des)air' ,lsa sees her sister has thawed and
come back to life because she sacrificed herself to save her
sister' constituting an act of true love which /laf first realizes!
,lsa realizes love is the ke% to controlling her )owers and
thaws the kingdom! /ver.o%ed' /laf smiles with glee' but
;uickl% melts due to the summer heat! ,lsa restores him and
gives him a small flurr% cloud to hover over his bod% and kee)
him com)letel% cool' finall% allowing the snowman to live his
dream of e:)eriencing summer and all its wonders! 6hen
ans awakens several moments later' he finds "rendelle
thawed and )eace restored! 6hen &ristoff attem)ted to
confront ans for tr%ing to kill the two sisters' ,lsa seems
touched b% &ristoff-s )rotectiveness over her and "nna but
"nna decides to confront him instead! "nna then a))roaches
the mani)ulative )rince' and the sight of "nna alive and well
confuses ans' )rom)ting him to ask how she-d survive the
frozen heart curse as her heart was frozen! ,ventuall%' "nna
berates ans b% telling him he-s the onl% one around here with
the frozen heart and turns her back at him much to ans-
disbelief' and out of fur%' the )rincess turns around and
)unches him in the face off the shi) the% were aboard and into
the water a few seconds later! "nna and ,lsa then hug' their
friendshi) restored stronger than ever! "s the sisters hug' "nna
looks lovingl% towards &ristoff' showing that she reci)rocated
his love! /nce again' "rendelle is restored to )eace! ,lsa is once
again acce)ted as ;ueen' with ever%one finall% understanding
that she is no monster' but a creator of beautiful magic!
,:)osed as the mani)ulating liar he is' ans is then arrested
and de)orted back to his own kingdom to face )unishment
from his twelve older brothers for his deeds' and ,lsa cuts off
all trade with 6eselton! The 4uke tries to claim he was
innocent and a victim of fear' but to no avail' and he and his
thugs are sent back to 6eselton' which he is heard insisting is
not named "6easel Town" after being mis)ronounced once
again' though )ur)osel% b% &ai to anno% him! (ometime later'
"nna leads a blindfolded &ristoff to the docks though briefl%
leads him to a )ole! (he removes the blindfold' and gives
&ristoff a new sled and reveals ,lsa has named him the
/fficial 3ce >aster for the kingdom and so he can be with
"nna! e attem)ts to decline both the sled and the title' too
modest to acce)t' but "nna )oints out that this is a direct order
from the ;ueen! 6hen she asks what his thoughts on the sled
are' &ristoff )icks u) "nna and twirls her around in his arms'
e:claiming he loves it' and that he could kiss her! e
immediatel% )uts her down' and stammers awkwardl% that
he-d like to' among several sentences of nonsense' leaving him
embarrassingl% flustered before "nna kisses his cheek' sa%ing
to &ristoff "6e ma%!" and the two share a kiss! ,lsa creates an
ice rink in one of the castle court%ards and )romises to never
shut the castle gates again' while gifting "nna with a )air of ice
skates (made out of ice)! "nna is delighted but tells ,lsa she
can-t skate! ,lsa hel)s her' who is later .oined b% /laf! The
movie ends with ever%one in "rendelle skating' making the
most of ,lsa-s ice rink!
"fter the credits' it is revealed that >arshmallow had
survived' and he-s seen lim)ing back into the castle with a new
made leg where all he finds is ,lsa-s old crown! The monster
looks around for a moment and smiles! Then' )leasing his inner
)rincess' >arshmallow ha))il% crowns himself ruler of the
castle while going back to his neutral and )eaceful form
smiling and letting out a ha))% sigh' ha))il% continuing his life
in the 9orth >ountains!
