Semantic Enhancement: A Quranic Semantic

Approach to the Term "Azab" Torment
This study aims to trace the longevity reasons of some terms and their struggle
against decline, where a term uses varying methods and strategies; phonetically,
morphologically, semantically, and structurally, to consolidate its existence and
continuity. These methods were traced through pronouncing the term azab (torment)
in the Holy Quran, then attempting to develop a semantic approach towards the laws of
semantic enhancement; bothphonetically and conceptually, that revealed some of its
manifestations, the most clear of which is phonetic enhancement. The strength of the
term sound ;as a trait and an outcome, its extension through articulation, the distances
between its letter utterances and their succession increase the power of the term and
enhance its existence.
The study reveals the impact of morphological enhancement on the term
longevity, through the moderation meter, in length and shortness, as well as its harmony
with the phonetic laws that support the term and strengthen its consistency.
The structural enhancement was achieved by conjunction and adjunction, where
suffixes refresh the term and keep it from declining.
The study also stressed the impact of semantic enhancementon the term
longevity through the multiplicity of meaning, making it usable in a number of fields,
including some of exaggeration, condensation, formulation, and displacement. Despite
the success of the study hypothesis, it needs to be confirmed, perhaps contributing to
detecting the mysteries of the meaning and probing its methods.
