ADMISSIONS to M.Sc. Programmes, 2014
Candidates who have applied for admission to M.Sc. (Economics), M.Sc. (Financial Economics) and M.Sc.
(Agribusiness Economics) are hereby informed that the process of admissions for the batch of 2014-16, and to the
GIPE Hostels, shall be as specified here below.
1. Result of the Entrance Test and the MERIT LIST to be declared on June 19, 2014.

2. Candidates shall be sent offer of admission via e-mail, in the order of their rank in the Merit List and in
the order of their preference.

4. Confirmation of admission and payment of Programme Fees
a. Candidates who have been offered admission via e-mail communication shall not be required to visit
the Institute in person to confirm admission. Candidates who accept the offer and wish to confirm
admission shall be required to fill the Challan of HDFC Bank and pay the requisite Fees by Demand
Draft drawn in favour of Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, at any branch of HDFC Bank on
or before the last date for payment of Programme Fees, as per (3) above.

b. Upon payment of Programme Fees at HDFC Bank, the candidate shall send a mail to
admission@gipe.ac.in with a copy to ac.gipe@gmail.com confirming acceptance of admission, and
specifying the No. of the Demand Draft deposited at HDFC Bank.

c. If a candidate does not accept the offer of admission and pay the requisite Programme Fees within
the specified time as per schedule at (3) above, the candidate shall forfeit his/her claim on admission
and the seat will be offered to the next candidate in order of merit and preference.

d. Admission shall be treated as confirmed only upon receipt of Programme Fees.

e. The Academic Office shall verify receipt of Programme Fees with the Bank and thereafter shall send
an e-mail to the candidate confirming Provisional Admission.

f. Candidates are requested to note that all admissions shall be provisional until the required
documents as mentioned in the Admissions Brochure are submitted to the Institute.

5. Document Verification
a. Students who have confirmed admissions shall report to Academic Office at the Institute during
on July 17 or 18 for submission and verification of documents. The students shall carry with them
the original, as well as a set of attested photocopies of the following documents:
i. Statement of marks of graduate examination
ii. Valid proof of date of birth (as per government rule)
iii. Transfer/Migration Certificate

b. Candidates granted admission under Reserved Category shall, in addition to the above, submit
the following documents issued by competent government authorities:
i. Valid Caste Certificate
ii. Domicile Certificate
iii. Valid Non-Creamy Layer Certificate (for OBC candidates only)

In case a candidate fails to submit the requisite documents, the offer of admission is liable to be
cancelled and the seat will be allotted to waitlisted candidate in the order of merit.

6. Cancellation of Admission
Cancellation Policy as per UGC guidelines:
i. If an applicant cancels his/her admission before the commencement of the academic
session i.e., before 21-7-2014, and the vacant seat is filled up from the waiting list, the
entire fees paid by the student shall be refunded after deduction of processing charges
of Rs. 1,000/-.

ii. If an applicant cancels his/her admission after the commencement of the academic
session but before closure of admissions, and if the vacant seat is filled up from the
waiting list, a proportionate monthly fee, in addition to the processing charges of Rs.
1,000/- will be deducted and the balance amount shall be refunded.

iii. If the applicant cancels his/her admission after closure of admissions, and if the seat
remains vacant after the applicants withdrawal, only refundable Security Deposits shall
be refunded and the other fees shall be forfeited.

b. In the case of candidates who cancel their admission, refund shall be arranged after deduction of
admissible charges, via NEFT/RTGS only.

c. Refund against cancellation/shifting of programmes as per preference will be processed only
after July 21, 2014.


7. Application for Admission to GIPE Hostel
a. Limited accommodation is available at the GIPE hostels.
b. Allotment hostels will be subject to availability and on the basis of merit rank and reservation
policy as may be applicable.
c. Students seeking admission to GIPE hostels are required to fill in the Application Form for
admission to GIPE hostels and mail the same to hostels@gipe.ac.in at the earliest.
d. Candidates shall pay the Hostel Fees by Demand Draft favouring Gokhale Institute of Politics
and Economics, payable at Pune, at the time of reporting for document verification.

8. Regular lectures shall commence on Monday, July 21, 2014.
