1.1 FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION 1.1 M T
The extinguishers & blankets scope of
work covers the requirements for
portable fire protection measures.
Dry chemical extinguishers are to be
located in areas where Class A fires are
expected but there is some likelihood of
electrical equipment eg computers, being
involved.
Dry chemical and CO2 extinguishers are
to be located where the principal risk is
from an electrically started fire, eg in the
electrical and mechanical plant rooms.

Portable Fire Extinguishers
Extinguishers shall be of the stored
pressure type, equipped with a pressure
gauge.
Portable extinguishers shall be self-
contained and designed for two-hand
operation.
Portable extinguishers shall be operable
via a pull out safety pin and a squeeze
grip control.
Clear operating instructions shall be
printed directly onto the extinguisher
body.
Handheld extinguishers shall be supplied
with suitable mounting fixtures.
The type of extinguishing agent shall be
clearly identified.
Fire extinguisher bodies shall be signal
red in colour
Stick on labels shall NOT be used.
All wording shall be in both English and
Vietnamese.
All extinguishers shall be supplied with
maintenance record cards.

Extinguishers shall have a capacity of 5
kg.
The extinguishant shall be suitable for
Class 2AB and C fires.
Extinguishers shall be supplied complete
with discharge hose and nozzle.

Hand held extinguishers shall have a

The extinguishant shall be CO2, suitable

Extinguishers shall be supplied complete
with a swivel horn type discharge
nozzle.
