1. A, B and C can do apiece of work in 11 days, 20 days and 55 days respectively,
working alone. How soon can the work be done if A is assisted by B and C on
alternate days? . [Assistant Grade]
a. 1 days b.9 days
c.8 days d.10 days
1. see. ab 1st day ......ac 2nd day..
most imp..:ab ye dekho 2 din k ander ye teeno kaam kar rahe hai.. but a usme 2 baar
kaam kar raha hai..isley uski abilty ko twice kar dengae...(q.9 ko bhi dekho, samjhne k
liye)
1 / 11 x 2 = 2/11 ( a ki 2 din ki ability)
2 din me ability( 2 din me jo kaam hua) = 2/11 + 1/20 + 1/55
= 1/4
1 day ki ability = 1 / 4x2 = 1 / 8
time = work / daily abilty = 1 / 8 = 8 day...
2. If Ramesh, Suresh and Harish can do a piece of work in 15 days, 10 days and 6
days respectiVelY how long will they take to do it, if all the three work at it together ?
(Central Excise & I. Tax 1990)
a.3 days b. 3 * (9/20) days
c.3 and half days d. 3 * (3/20) days
ITS SIMPLE NO NEED TO EXPLAIN..IF WANT COMMENT..
3. A can do a certain job in 12 days. B is 60% more efficient than A. The number of
days, it takes B to do the same piece of work, is. [C.B.I. 1990]
a. 6 b.7 * (1/2)
c.6 * (1/4) d. 8
Ratio of times taken by A and B = 160:100 = 8:5
8 : 5 :: 12 : x or 8x = 5*12 or x = 7 and half days.
4. Twelve men can complete a work in 8 days. Three days after they started the work,
3 more men joined. In how many days will all of them together complete the
remaining work? (L.I.C. 1990)
a.2 b.5
c.4 d.6
sol. 12 x 8 = 96,
12 x 3 = 36
kitna bacha = 96 - 36 = 60
48 days 54 days
50 days 60 days
solu. Work done by A and B in 20 days = (1/30 * 20) = 2/3
Remaining work= ( 1 -2/3) = 1/3 Now,1/3 work is done by A in 20days
Whole work will be done by A in (20x3) = 60 days.
14. A and B can separately do a piece of work in 20 and 15 days respectively. They
worked together for 6 days, after which B was replaced by C. If the work was finished
in next 4 days, then the number of days in which C alone could do the work will be:
(Central Excise & I. Tax 1990)
60 35
40 30
A + B)s 6 days work = 6 [(1/20) + (1/15)] = 7/20
(A+C)s 4days work = (3/10)*(A+C)s 1days work = 1/20 Cs 1 days work = (3/40) (1/20) = 1/40
Hence, C alone can finish the work in 40 days.
15. A certain number of men complete a piece of work in 60 days. If there were 8
men more, the work could be finished in 10 days less. How many men were originally
there ?
30 36
32 40
Originally ;let there be x men.
More men, Less days
(x + : x 60:50
So, x + 8 / x = 60/50 or x = 40.
Hence, there were 40 men, originally.
