Thank you for requesting a reference for the above named who was a student of this University
between September 2007 and July 2010. Sian was enrolled on the three year Bachelor of Science
Degree Programme in Biology and Sports Science. She was awarded a First Class Honours Degree on

According to her tutors, Sian was an outstanding student. They advise that her levels of written and
oral communication skills are very high and that she was an original and insightful thinker.
Sian was hard-working, intelligent, likeable, dependable and well organised. Her tutors believed that
she thoroughly deserved her exceptional degree result, and she had many friends amongst her
peers. Her tutors advise that Sians attendance and punctuality were excellent and they have no
reason to doubt her honesty.
Sian was joint winner of the Ellis Parry Award for outstanding student project in 2009. Her tutors
have no hesitation at all in recommending Sian for this position as they believe she would be an
asset to any organisation. They support her choice of career without reservation.
According to Sian, she is a keen theatre goer and she has told us that she has taken part in a number

member of her local gym, that she has obtained good grades in playing the clarinet and that she has
also been a member of a national volunteer movement supporting homeless people to find

part-time work with M&Co Retail Ltd and Waterstones bookshop. She has advised us that she is
competent in the use of IT, can speak Welsh fluently and has studied French to A level standard.

Dear Justin Gray
Reference for Myfanwy Lewis
Myfanwy has recently graduated in Geography here at Aberystwyth University. As her personal
tutor I was able to get to know her well and assess her abilities at University and her potential for
future work.
She was a popular student and has made friendships that continue. She was a good time keeper,
her attendance was good and she produced a well written and researched dissertation. Her course
presentations were always well structured, clear and informative.
Myfanwy undertook an optional year in employment between September 2008 and September
2009. She worked for ABC Research Ltd as a Field Officer where she was rated highly and this
experience gave her the opportunity to gain experience using new technology and to work both
independently and as part of a busy team.
Myfanwy is intelligent, very motivated and willing to learn new things. I feel sure that she will be an
asset to your team and unreservedly recommend her for the post she has applied for.

Dear Ms Davies,
Re: David Parry (Applicant for the post of Administrative Officer)
David Parry commenced his undergraduate degree in English Literature at Aberystwyth University in
September 2008. David is due to complete his studies in July 2011 and he is currently on track to
gain a Second Class Honours Degree (Lower Division), examination results pending.
David s academic work has consistently been of a good standard. He is well organised and has
coped well with the demands of the academic programme. David appears to be a reliable and
responsible member of the student group. David contributes well to group work tasks and
demonstrates good interpersonal and communication skills with staff.
Throughout the programme, Davids health and attendance has been good. David has participated
fully in all aspects of the programme and has worked hard during all three years of his studies. David
has developed in confidence and contributes in class, making positive and appropriate comments
and suggestions during seminars and in tutorials.
As far as I am aware, David is totally trustworthy and can be relied upon to perform to the best of his
ability. To my knowledge he has nothing to declare under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
I fully support Davids application for this post and believe that he will be an asset to any Local
Government Administrative department.
Whilst all reasonable efforts have been made to ensure the truth and accuracy of the statements
made in this reference, neither the referee nor the University will be held responsible for any errors,
omissions or misstatements contained in the reference.

Dear Mr Williams
Reference for Alun Edwards
I have known Alun for three years in my capacity as his Personal Tutor at Aberystwth University.
Alun was also a student of several modules which I taught which were Introduction to Marketing,
International Marketing, Marketing Principles and Practice. Alun earned grades B, B, B+
respectively on these. Based on these grades and his good attendance and contribution in seminars,
I would assess his performance in my groups highly. A significant part of the course assessments
were based on producing presentations and taking the lead in seminars. Aluns presentations were
always well structured and informative.
Alun has a number of strengths to offer an employer. He has often showed good team work and
leadership skills, volunteering to lead groups which produced results efficiently. I believe these
attributes would serve him well in the position of Assistant Marketing Manager with your company.
In conclusion, I would highly recommend Alun. If his performance here at Aberystwyth University is
any indication of how he would perform in the job, he will be a very positive addition to your
organisation.
Whilst all reasonable efforts have been made to ensure the truth and accuracy of the statements
made in this reference, neither the referee nor the University will be held responsible for any errors,
omissions or misstatements contained in the reference.
Yours sincerely
