Hare Krishna

Main areas for editing

1. Check for grammar
2. Capital letters for He where God or Krishna is spoken about (very common
mistake)
3. Punctuations.
Tips for subtitling
After the transcript is edited (or while editing itself) subtitling needs to be done.
Provide subtitles by dividing the whole single essay kind of transcript into
various paragraphs.
In a lecture the title may be humility but along with the central subject maharaj
often speaks about other persons things etc. so whenever any such new theme is
noticed you may paragraph to give a subtitle suitably
OR
Even if there is no such deviation in theme for e.g. maharaja speaks about the
conversation between Ramananad raya and LCM (also no short forms can be
there in a transcript) then the subtitles may flow with subject of the lecture e.g.
Ramanand Raya instructs Lord Caitanya, Lord Caitanya listening from
Ramananad Raya, Ramanand raya talks about the topmost subject, aage kaho
aar, etc.
In other words, give subtitles according to the flow of the lecture wherever you
feel you can break.
Some additional points regarding transcription work
1. The sentence has to make meaning.
2. Slokas need to be inserted from the folio or vedabase
(www.vedabase.net) .
3. The slokas need to be center aligned.
4. The lecture if it has a main sloka must be inserted from folio with
translation and purport at the beginning.
5. Only Radhanath Maharajas talk has to be there, other speakers if
transcribed must be deleted.
6. Begin transcribing from where actually the lecture starts for e.g. Maharaja
often starts with we welcome you all or today we are all here or they
asked me speak on the following verse.
7. For transcribing there is software called Express Scribe which you may
download from the net. It is a very small download. It helps you to play
the file and you can type in MS Word using F4 and F9 to pause and play
thereby avoiding transfer between two windows. It also has F7 and F8 for
forward and rewind

Tags and quotes
1. Tags
Once the subtitles are done it becomes very easy to give tags, meaning four or
five keywords that describe the lecture e.g. for a particular lecture tags could
be Kalakrishna das, compassion, etc
Tags means words that will enable this lecture to be highlighted by the
website when a devotee searches for particular keywords like the above
mentioned for a Sunday feast lecture, Sunday feast may be one tag itself. You
can give as many tags as possible. It may be given in ascending order of
importance. Please try giving from next lecture onwards if any changes we
will let u know.
2. Quotes
Quotes are used for other websites especially radhanthswamiquotes.com and
also many other sites. Apart from them Tulasi Books will use them for
publishing books like Nectar Drops etc. There are 2 categories devotional and
secular - no Krishna, God , any devotional quality for outside people.
e.g. of devotioal quotes nectar drops.
eg of secular quotes - will send you if req but i suggest you first try out. when
you edit the lecture you will come across quotes by default and please copy
these on a new doc or at the end of the same doc.
If any of the above is not possible kindly be free to express it as this is what
we need.
Important is to give a fair try as these are not that time consuming. One can
easily multitask these things.
