The Spanish Royal Family
The current King of Spain, Juan Carlos Alfonso Victor Maria de Borbon y Borbon, acceded to the
throne on November 22, 1975.
Juan Carlos married Princess Sofia of Greece on May 14, 1962, and they have three children: Elena,
born in 1963, Cristina, born in 1965 and the heir to the throne, Prince Felipe, who was born in
1968. His daughters gave him six grandchildren. The popular Prince of Asturias married Letizia
Ortiz in May 2004.
The Royal family of Spain does not have much power regarding the government, but they retain
their titles along with all the rights associated with it. Below is a list of the titles with which the
Royal Family of Spain is addressed.

while her husband holds the title His Excellency. They have four children, three boys and a
girl.
