Getting Involved as a General Member Panel: Proposal Rough Draft

For the Getting Involved as a General Member panel, our main goal will be to help the
member of Circle K get a better grasp on the opportunities that are available to them to get
involved as a general member. Often times, members dont know that they dont need to be a
board member to make a big difference in Circle K and we hope to show them these great
opportunities and encourage them to branch out and become a bigger part of Circle K. The first
section of the panel will be introductions of our panel members as well as a brief summary of
some of the opportunities that are out there for general members. The second half will be a
discussion/Q&A session for the audience to ask any specific questions they might have about
getting involved as a general member in Circle K.
We have a huge variety of great members in our general members panel that will
definitely help showcase the different ways members can get involved in Circle K. Below are
their names and their anticipated contribution/experience to the panel
1. Jessica D. Nguyen: I was in Key Club for 4 years (board 2 years) and Ive been a
Circle K member for almost two years. Last year, I was able to participate in the
MD&E panel at STC South and I was also able to perform in the DCON talent show.
Im currently the Slideshows co-chair for the DCON committee as well as the
Foothill Divisional Representative for the District MD&E committee. I would like to
share my experience of being a part of panel as well as a district committee.
2. Whitney Tang: Whitney was in Key Club for 4 years and this is her 1
st
year in Circle
K. Although shes a general member, shes already getting great experience in being
a part of a panel for District Convention and hopes to share this experience with her
fellow general members so that they too can participate.
3. Miwako Schlageter: Miwako was in Key Club for 4 years and this is her 2
nd
year in
Circle K. She currently serves as the MD&E chair for University of Nevada, Reno.
As the MD&E chair, she works very closely with the general members and knows a
lot about the opportunities that are out there for the general members to get more
involved in Circle K.
4. Angela Ngo: Angela was in Key Club for 2 years and this is her 2
nd
year in Circle K.
She is currently UCSDs MD&E chair and is also a part of the District MD&E
committee. Like Miwako, as the MD&E chair, she has a lot of great tips to share for
members to get involved as well as her experience on a district committee.
5. Ryan Max Ocampo: This is Ryans 5
th
year in Circle K and he is the MD&E and
Leadership chair for his college. He also serves as the Subregion B trustee on
International Board. Having a person on International Board is great for this panel
because Ryan can let our audience know how they can get involved as general
members even on the international level (like international committees, etc.)
