10. Brief description of the work done:
1. Rehabilitation of tank bund cum access road
2. Breach filling on the tank bund
3. Improvements to CO Spill
4. Repairs to RB & LB Sluice

11. Output from the project:
1. Breach on the tank bund filled thus enabling the tank to store water.
2. Well formed tank bund constructed for the safety of the tank bund and to provide access.
3. By the improvements to the spill, the safety of the tank is ensured.
4. Water management is improved with the repairs of the sluices.

12. Challenge faced during construction & the methodology adopted to overcome them:
The contractor faced problems in getting earth and clay to the site as suitable materials
were not in the tank bed area. However the contractor sorted out problems by his own
and completed the works early.

13. Lesson learnt from the project: Before offering the works, due consideration be given to the climate
expected.

4. Engineers Estimate: Rs.8,858,000.00 (Civil cost)
5. Contract sum: Rs.7,561580.00
6. Start date: 13.08.2012
7. Actual completion date: 15.04.2013
8. Expenditure incurred: Rs.7,289,102.87
9. No. of farm families benefitted: 170
10. Brief description of the work done:
1. Raising piers of the road crossing and fixing steel lifting gates
2. Rehabilitation of tank bund cum access road
3. Construction of an emergency drain out on the tank bund

11. Output from the project:
1. Effectively controlling and using the water from the local catchment on the other side of the
Kaluwanchikudy Vellavely road.
2. Well formed tank bund constructed thus giving the only access to the farmers from LB end RB
end for a length of about 3.5 Km.
3. By the emergency drain out the safety of the tank bund is ensured.

12. Challenge faced during construction & the methodology adopted to overcome them: As the
Bund was the only access to the paddy field, the farmers faced transport problems while doing earth
work. So the earth work was done for a small stretch for a day and the compaction was done in the
night. As the rain had already started, the turfing was done on the slopes for the work done without
waiting to complete the works in full.
