articles, news comments, wins, litter
and other items of interest to the
membership are encouraged. Opinions
expressed are those of the individual
authors and not those of the NKC either
in whole or in part. The Editor reserves
the right to edit materials in the interest
of space, literary clarity, good taste or
timelines. All deadlines will be strictly

Our next general meeting will be a Dog and Pony
Show at the 2
nd
Company Governors Horse Guard at
6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 4 Wildlife
Drive, Newtown, CT (adjacent to Fairfield Campus off
exit 11). We plan to have a demonstration by our new
Canine Officer, St. Michael, as well as AKC
Representative and NKC member Lisa Peterson. All
are welcome and refreshments will be served. It looks
to be a very special event for our club.

As usual, we are looking for volunteers at our two
August shows. Please contact Diane Taylor if you
want to steward or Bill Daugherty, Cluster Chair, to
volunteer your time. Please note that club members
can now exhibit at our shows, but show committee
and officers still cannot exhibit at our events.

If you have any desire to volunteer at our events,
please dont hesitate to contact any committee chair
or me by email (helene@banstock.net) or call me at
203.426.8194. Suggestions are always welcome.

Please note the page relative to the Robert Borsuch
Memorial Trophy. Sue Marucci is looking for the past
winners of BIS at our NCK shows. If you can help,

NKC 1980 Best in Show Winner, Ch. Firebrands Constant Comment

The Newtown Kennel Club has begun archiving and locating the Best In Show winners
of the Robert W. Borsuch Memorial Trophy, which has been retired. We recently
located the owner of the 1980 BIS winner, CH Firebrands Constant Comment, CC, a
Vizsla.

Betty Anderson, of Penlee Vizslas, began her lifelong love of Vizslas in 1975. After only
five years in the breed, CC became the very first Connecticut Valley Vizsla Club
Specialty Winner at the Newtown Kennel Club Dog Show in August 1980. CC went on
to win BIS that day.

CC made history that day by becoming the 1
st
Vizsla Bitch in the US to win an All
Breed BIS. She went on to produce 5 generations of All Breed BIS winners.

34 years later, Betty Anderson, along with Pamela Blake ( CCs breeder and handler)
was given this trophy at the Tampa Bay Vizsla Club Specialty on June 14
th
, 2014 at the
St. Petersburg Dog Fanciers Association Dog Show. Kristen Sullivan, Bettys niece, not
only presented Betty with CCs BIS trophy that day, but also took top honors by
winning the Tampa Bay Vizsla Club Specialty as a breeder/owner/handler with CH
Penlees Strike A Pose.

We would like hear more fabulous stories about all the other BIS winners. If anyone
knows where we may locate any of the NKC Best In Show winners of the Robert W.
