BLACKSITE BY JUSTIN DEL TORO

BLACK SCREEN:
GERENT
They are all weak.
DARYUS
But they have Him.
GERENT
And he can be broken.
DARYUS
Not as easy as you think my friend.
GERENT
The invasion will end them.
DARYUS
But not the coward. He cannot be
killed.
GERENT
How are you so sure?
DARYUS
He is my son.
INT. BEDROOM - NIGHT
DANIEL HART is asleep on his bed. The door breaks open and
three men rush in clad in military style clothing. They
swarm Daniel and shoot a small red ball at his face.
DANIEL
Hey what the hell is going on?!?
HAWTHORNE
Bag his head Crosby!
BRADLEY HAWTHORNE is the oldest of the group and looks like
a human German Shepard. His frame nearly extends to the
door’s wooden frame.
CROSBY
Sure.
FRANK CROSBY puts a mesh covering over Daniel’s head. Crosby
is in his early thirties and of medium average build. His
military clothing is the only not sharply pressed.
2.

Daniel continues to struggle but Crosby punches him in the

gut a few times to shut him up.
The men begin to lead him out of his apartment. Daniel
tosses himself against them even though he can’t see them
through the dark, dense mesh covering over his head.
EXT. GARAGE NIGHT
The apparent soldiers drag the moaning Daniel by the arms
towards the trunk of a black truck.
INT. TRUCK - NIGHT
DANIEL
(stressed)
What do you want? What the hell is
going on?
CROSBY
Relax. Everything is going to be
fine.
DANIEL
Then why do you have a goddamn bag
over my head?!?
HAWTHORNE
Things would be a lot easier if you
just shut up. Then we won’t have to
shut you up the hard way.
CROSBY
Tell me again...why didn’t we dart
him?
HAWTHORNE
I don’t know, ask Douglas, he’s the
one who deals with that kind of
stuff. Just let me drive.
DOUGLAS WINTERS sits in the backseat beside Daniel. He is a
black man in his mid-thirties with the build of a hardened
Marine turned NFL linebacker.
CROSBY
Care to answer?
DOUGLAS
I didn’t have the right dose.
3.

DANIEL
Please, I haven’t done anything
wrong. What do you want from me?
CROSBY
I suggest you close your mouth.
DANIEL
You can’t walk into someone’s
house, put a fucking bag over
their head and dump them into a
truck!
The black truck zips along a rocky dirt road.
CROSBY
We just did.
HAWTHORNE
You want to tell him why he’s here?
DANIEL
Please tell me. I’m an American
citizen, I don’t know what’s going
on. I’m innocent.
CROSBY
No you aren’t. You see we found
your plans. We found out about your
little plot. And now you’re going
to pay for it.
DANIEL
Is this some joke? Are you serious?
Did you even check my wallet? Call
my girlfriend even.
CROSBY
We don’t need your wallet or your
girlfriend. We know who you are.
Daniel can barely see through the covering and moves around
restlessly.
DANIEL
Then you know that I’m not a
criminal!
CROSBY
Fuckstick, shut up. Now.
4.

DANIEL
Where are you taking me?!?
CROSBY
You’re going somewhere far far
away. We know about your mission to
attack (he stops) Just don’t lie to
us.
HAWTHORNE
Both of you shut up before I get
into a goddamn accident.
CROSBY
Make a left here.
HAWTHORNE
I know how to fucking get there.
CROSBY
(sarcastically)
Just thought you needed a helping
hand.
Hawthorne pays him no mind.
DANIEL
Let me out you piece of shit!
Crosby punches Daniel forcefully in the stomach. Daniel
grunts and crumples over in the seat.
CROSBY
You’re doing it all wrong.
Douglas shoots Crosby a hard look then looks at Daniel.
DANIEL
(through pain)
Let me out!
CROSBY
Shut him up.
DOUGLAS
Sorry buddy.
Daniel is shot in the neck by a dart, he grimaces and kicks
at Douglas but is met with a fist to the face.
5.

INT. PRISON CELL - NIGHT

Daniel is thrown into a dirty prison cell, gray in nature
and bland all around. In fear Daniel crawls to the corner of
the room and begins to cry.
CROSBY
(outside of cell looking in)
I thought he was tougher than this.
DANIEL
(exhausted)
I don’t know what you guys are
talking about. Let me go...
CROSBY
Not going to happen.
DANIEL
(angrily)
I didn’t confess a goddamn thing!
What the fuck do you want from me?
Let me out!
DOUGLAS
Save your strength by not talking.
CROSBY
Douglas always has a way with
words. Man I love you!
DANIEL
Please, please don’t do this to me.
The door to the prison cell is slammed and Dan sits in the
dark, sobbing softly. His sobbing dies as a strong voice
calls out to him.
SHADOW (V.O.)
Do you know what you are? Who you
are? Try to remember.
DANIEL
What, who are you?
Daniel bats his eyes around the room wildly. The walls seem
to close in on him, beads of sweat form around his brow.
SHADOW (V.O.)
Do you know who you are? You are
not what you think you are. You
know more. You know so much more.
Just remember. Try to remember
Daniel. Is that really your name?
6.

DANIEL
Get out of my head! Leave me alone!
Daniel moves around the prison cell, bangs on the door and
grunts loudly. The walls seem to be getting closer but now
he sees images on them. Stories. Videos superimposed on the
walls. All showing something different.
SHADOW (V.O.)
Listen to your heart. We need you
to remember. They are coming.
The door to the cell busts open as Crosby enters. He zaps
Daniel with a strange weapon causing Daniel’s knees to
buckle. He passes out. Both feet scratching the floor Daniel
is dragged by his arms through a prison block.
EXT. PRISON BLOCK - NIGHT
Hawthorne and Douglas wait at a door at the end of the
prison block. The rest of the prison is barren and small.
HAWTHORNE
Get him into the chair so we
can begin.

INT. DARK ROOM - NIGHT

The room is covered in darkness, the only light coming from
a handful of electronic instruments. There is a table in the
center and a silver camera mounted on a small tripod.
Forcefully they push Daniel into the chair behind the table,
slapping his face a few times.
HAWTHORNE
Do you know why you’re here?
DANIEL
You guys are fucking comedians...
Daniel spits at Hawthorne but misses. Crosby chuckles to
himself.
HAWTHORNE
You’re here because we found out
about your organized scheme to
attack the Nellis Air Force base.
DOUGLAS
Hey Bradley stop wasting time with
that bullshit.
7.

HAWTHORNE
Fine. Daniel we need something from
you. We need you to remember things
you think you have forgotten.
DANIEL
I don’t know what you’re talking
about. I work at a goddamn Police
station, what could you possibly
want with me? I’m not even an
officer!
SHADOW (V.O.)
Tell them what they need to know
Daniel.
DANIEL
(looking around wildly)
Do you guys hear that?
DOUGLAS
Hear what?
DANIEL
The voice in my head. The one
that’s talking to me.
Douglas looks away quickly. He backs up against the door of
the interrogation room slowly.
CROSBY
Are you sure this is going to work?
DOUGLAS
(to Hawthorne)
You remember what it’s done to the
others.
HAWTHORNE
I’ve read the file...
DANIEL
(interupting)
The voice is telling me to
remember...
HAWTHORNE
(interested)
Yes, that’s a good sign. Try to
reach back.
8.

DOUGLAS
What does the voice sound like?
DANIEL
Raspy, strong, clear. Chilling.
CROSBY
Oh fuck. We’ve got a problem then.
HAWTHORNE
Shit, get the serum, I need the
answers before he has the seizure!
Crosby and Douglas rush to another table in the room with
medicine on it. They both reach for the same syringe,
cringing they bring it to Daniel.
DANIEL
What the hell are you doing with
that thing? What’s wrong with me?
Why am I hearing voices?!?!? Tell
me!
HAWTHORNE
Stabilize him. I’ll give him the
dose.
DANIEL
Back off!
Crosby and Douglas hold Daniel down to the floor after a
quick struggle. He continues to kick and bite on the floor
but cannot match the strength of both men.
SHADOW (V.O.)
This is the hard way. Listen to me.
That’s all you had to do. Now you
are taking the hard path. The path
of death.
The walls close in on Daniel. Sweat drips from his face in
rivers, images flash everywhere. Pictures of science,
medicine, weapons, airplanes, people, aliens and objects of
unknown origin. Everything comes at once.
SHADOW (V.O.)
I am giving it to you. You should
have earned it.
CROSBY
He’s moving too much!
9.

HAWTHORNE
Hold him down!
Daniel convulses violently, froth coming from his mouth, his
eyes drifting to the back of his head. Still the images
flash, his memory coming back to him. Images of alien
beings, weapons, labs, computers and strange
structures. Finally he sees the last image. Himself clad in
a white science robe. The convulsions end as fast as they
started.
DOUGLAS
They’ve stopped. Shit.
CROSBY
(sarcastically)
Thank you Sherlock for that
stunning revelation.
HAWTHORNE
Shut up, both of you.
DANIEL
(dazed)
What was that? Why did that just
happen?
HAWTHORNE
You think he heard the Voice of
God?
They all look at Daniel.
DANIEL
(still confused)
I know who I am. But it felt
different. How long have I been
away?
HAWTHORNE
(relieved)
It worked.
DANIEL
Yes. But you didn’t use the
complete process.
A dull RUMBLE can be heard above.
DOUGLAS
(focused on Daniel)
No we didn’t but you remember
everything right?
10.

DANIEL
Almost, I know about my past here.
I know about what happened before
the memory wipe.
CROSBY
(nervous)
Didn’t you guys just hear that?
DANIEL
They must be here then.
CROSBY
Who? What the hell is he talking
about Brad?
HAWTHORNE
Tell me.
As the men converse something lurks in the darkness. A
creature of sorts descends from one of the elevated prison
cells. Skulking.
DANIEL
We have to reach the surface.
HAWTHORNE
Be ready for anything.
An explosion rocks the area.
DOUGLAS
Let’s go!
The group exits the interrogation room with weapons at the
ready. None of them see the alien perched right above the
door’s entrance.
The creature pounces on Daniel, ripping him to the ground.
It’s eyes are a brilliant shade of yellow and while it is
small, it is very strong with bulging muscles, wicked teeth
and curved calls. It sneers at Crosby.
CROSBY
(running away)
Screw him let’s go!
HAWTHORNE
(stopping Crosby)
No, we need him! Shoot the damn
thing!
Reluctantly Crosby shoots the alien with his Beretta. He
grabs Daniel and pulls him to his feet.
11.

CROSBY
Hurry up and stay near us. I don’t
have enough bullets for all the
little aliens.
DANIEL
(under breath)
Thanks for the help asshole.
The group reaches the elevator, weapons at the ready.
Hawthorne is talks into his headset while the others keep
watch. The alarm continues to blare while explosions rock
the area more.
DANIEL
Tell me everything I need to know
inside the elevator. We have to
contain this problem.
DOUGLAS
Nice to see you back Dr. Hart.
DANIEL
I would have preferred a nicer
welcoming, I still have a headache.
DOUGLAS
We haven’t perfected the
restoration process quite yet sir.
The elevator arrives. They jump in, keeping their eyes glued
to the rear.
DANIEL
Give me a weapon will ya?
HAWTHORNE
No, you can’t have a handgun. Those
are the rules.
DANIEL
What the hell? You better explain
what’s happened since the memory
wipe because last time I remember I
had rank. Don’t tell me you aren’t
a PFC anymore.
CROSBY
You haven’t been here in a while
bud. Bradmeister over here is a
Captain.
12.

DANIEL
I wasn’t asking you Crosby.
They both shoot hard looks at each other but Crosby is the
first to avert his eyes. The elevator continues to ascend.
The ground floor button is lit.
HAWTHORNE
Yeah, I’m a big boss over here
Hart, best believe it.
DANIEL
Shit, thought this day would never
happen.
DOUGLAS
You heard the voice right?
DANIEL
Yeah, what was that? Is that part
of the restoration process?
DOUGLAS
No, there’s been something going on
here at the base. Paranormal stuff.
We can’t explain it but every
instance has had that voice in it.
Some say the voice reveals itself
as Paxton Fettel, sometimes Shadow
or others nothing.
DANIEL
Any ideas why this is occurring?
DOUGLAS
No, not yet. A few people have a
theory that it’s a type of
foreshadowing; every time it
happens the results aren’t good.
Ebola type symptoms with the people
who hear it.
CROSBY
(pressing elevator button
repeatedly)
Why is this shit taking so long!
The Elevator comes to a complete stop. They have only
ascended to the next level, barely at all.
HAWTHORNE
Douglas, check the power.
13.

DOUGLAS
(looking down a mobile PC)
Everything is down. The entire
base, the shields. Fuck, they’re
all out.
CROSBY
Goddammit!
DANIEL
This would not have happened if you
would have gotten me sooner.
HAWTHORNE
We tried but there was opposition.
You had become a liability.
DANIEL
A liability? I was the reason you
even had an idea the goddamn attack
was coming. You’re lucky it hadn’t
been sooner.
HAWTHORNE
We thought we could control it. You
were scaring a lot of people Dan.
CROSBY
Me one of them.
DANIEL
Shut up Crosby. I don’t need you to
speak. I’ve still got rank over
you.
CROSBY
I’m going to look at the power
generator then.
DOUGLAS
That means we get off this
elevator.
They exit the elevator off into a shiny lobby that looks
like a brand new high-end computer fresh off the assembly
line.
INT. SHINY LOBBY - DAY
DANIEL
I told you they were stirring,
communicating, talking, planning. I
told they were doing something.
14.

HAWTHORNE
And we should have believed you.
But everyone else thought that you
were losing it, too much time with
them. I don’t know.
DANIEL
(disgusted)
Too much time with them? I was
hired to study them!
HAWTHORNE
There are more important things
right now. We have no connection
with the surface. And we’re on the
lowest floor. No one comes down
here.
DANIEL
Wait a minute. Are you telling me
this is His floor? I thought you
guys moved Him away from here.
HAWTHORNE
No, this is His floor. And if he’s
loose we have to move fast.
DOUGLAS
(looking up from mobile PC)
I’ve got a lock on the generator
for this floor. I can’t do anything
about the rest of the base.
CROSBY
(tapping radio)
I’ve been trying to reach HQ.
Nothing.
HAWTHORNE
How about infrared scans? How many
of them do we have on this floor?
CROSBY
I can’t get a reading on that. The
system is offline for the most
part, just barebone images. Random
feedback from the cameras, nothin’
else.
DANIEL
(pacing)
What about the armory on this
floor?
15.

DOUGLAS
It’s just before His room.
DANIEL
Bradley enough of this bullshit.
What happened to that project?
HAWTHORNE
It went wrong. We couldn’t control
Him, his powers, his speed, his
hunger. Insurmountable. We couldn’t
do anything to contain him, so we
gave him the whole floor.
DANIEL
How are we going to get around him?
HAWTHORNE
I don’t know.
The group begins to move towards the armory away from the
lobby and elevator. The dark corridors still exude an edgy
shine.
CROSBY
So what’s the gameplan?
DANIEL
I say we grab the weapons we need,
get around Him and get the power
back on. The Repine never dwell in
this area as far as I know.
A giant ROAR fills the entire space of the floor.
CROSBY
(gasping sarcastically)
The Balrog.

BLACK SCREEN - REVELATION TWO

SHADOW (V.O.)
I gave you back your memory. Now
you owe me something. You owe me
your true form. Not this gimmick.
Daniel Hart. Nothing better
available?
16.

EXT. AREA 51 GROUND -- NIGHT

There is a large smoldering hole in the wall, fire spouting
from it, fresh blood splashed on its sides. A tall, alien
figure steps from the hole, his garb grand and elegant, a
large chest plate made of red gold shining. His dark gray
skin makes him look omnious and imposing.
VANGUARD LEADER
Report. How clear is the first
level?
VANGUARD SERGEANT
Clear, no humans alive. The SID has
also been taken care of. As we
speak my other units are descending
into the belly of the base.
VANGUARD LEADER
So the initial strike was a
success?
VANGUARD SERGEANT
Completely. No splash damage as
well. No one in power knows what
has happened here.
VANGUARD LEADER
Not yet at least.
VANGUARD SERGEANT
We have freed our brothers and will
continue to unite them.
VANGUARD LEADER
What about the Exion?
VANGUARD SERGEANT
He will take more time to capture
I’m afraid.
VANGUARD LEADER
I don’t care what it takes. We need
him, he will turn the tide of
battle if he is under our command.
Make sure he is not killed.
VANGAURD SARGEANT
What of the Imperator? How will you
handle him Gerent?
17.

VANGUARD LEADER
I will find him. And I will break
him.

EXT. OMEGA 11 TRAINING GROUND - NIGHT

MICHAEL HALFORD peers into his sniper scope, completely
focused and still. He is in his mid-thirties and is fit,
tall and strong. A true squad leader. The kid who always
protected the little ones from bullies in school.
MICHAEL
Gotcha this time.
A large noise erupts in his ear, he loses focus, drops his
weapon and stands up.
JANOWITSKI
Get up now. Simulation over, all
units report to HQ. We have a code
Red 15. This is not a drill, haul
ass now!
MICHAEL
Roger that, all units fall back on
me.
Three other soldiers spring up from the fields in which they
were training. The brisk air rustles their camouflage but
without any further notice they converge on Michael and head
back to base.
INT. HEADQUARTERS - NIGHT
JANOWITSKI
This is what we’ve got.
A squad of men sits in front of Lt. JANOWITSKI, a well built
man in his early forties. All of them pay close attention to
him and the projection he is referring to.
JANOWITSKI
(continued)
A stray transmission came from
Groom Lake. You know where that is
of course.
MICHAEL
(intent and hard eyed)
What kind of transmission?
Distress?
18.

JANOWITSKI
Yes, the user had trouble
breathing, complained of a
tightness, a blue shield, a burning
pain in his mouth...a whole lot of
shit. I can’t make out what’s real
and what’s not. In the background
you can hear crashing, something is
definately going on.
Janowitski pulls up a media player on the projection screen.
He plays the transmission.
DISTRESSED RADIOMAN/FELIPE
(crackling/stuttering)
There’s not a lot of time left.
They are coming for me, they should
be on my position any second now.
They took us all by suprise, they
ran right past our defenses, I, uh,
I don’t know how they did it. It’s
crazy, impossible almost. It was
the voice of god, it was the only
way they could get past everything
else. I mean, you have to see this.
They’re everywhere, killing
everyone. You have to believe me.
Is anyone there? Please, this is
not a joke. People are going to
die. The Voice of God. It’s
resounding. Oh God. The voice...it
has an image. THE VOICE OF GOD!
The transmission dies.
LUKE
What the fuck was that about?
JANOWITSKI
We don’t know. But anything that
comes from there has to be taken
with precaution. They don’t
bullshit at Nellis. This is the
real deal.
MICHAEL
Then where are the goddamn
choppers?
JANOWITSKI
Here. Take the new arsenal too.
11th SFOD move out!
19.

The drone of a helicopter fills the rustle and bustle of the

headquarters. Inside the Delta Force squad loads up on
weapons and intel.
LUKE
You want to tell me and the boys
what we’re dealing with this time?
LUKE is in his late twenties, stands at average height and
is well built, a good soldier and friend to Michael. He
almost has a dirty country boy look to him.
MICHAEL
Take all the Halo shit you play.
Make it real.
LUKE
Oh...this should be cool then.
He loads a clip into his assault rifle with emphasis. Squad
members either take a M-16, G36 or the new XM8. Their
demeanor is icy. They take one last glance at the armory and
their lockers, pictures of family on the inside. The slam of
locker doors is louder than the helicopter’s beating.

INT. OVAL OFFICE NIGHT

The President, a little bit meatier and older looking than a
young Ed Harris, walks into his office, and is followed by a
secretary of some type. Both men appear as if they just been
woken up. Yet another man comes from another door wearing
the garb of a General, his many wrinkles making him look
like a bulldog ready to bite someone’s ass.
PRESIDENT
What’s the matter? Why was I woken
up? This better be good.
SECRETARY OF DEFENSE
Sir there’s been a problem at one
of our Air Force bases. General
Locke will fill you in.
PRESIDENT
What Air Force base are we talking
about? How big a problem?
GENERAL LOCKE
Nellis sir. Area 51.
20.

PRESIDENT
The Area 51?
GENERAL LOCKE
Yes sir. We recieved a disturbing
transmission.
PRESIDENT
What are we talking about here?
GENERAL LOCKE
We think Groom Lake has come under
attack.
PRESIDENT
Attack from whom?
GENERAL LOCKE
We believe it’s terrorists but the
nature of the transmission cannot
be determined. It is indeed real
and not a hoax but we cannot tell
what we are really dealing with.
PRESIDENT
Okay so what? Send the National
Guard, get the base’s internal
defense on it.
GENERAL LOCKE
That’s exactly what we’re trying to
do. No National Guard is within
range. We’ve sent a SFOD team,
specialized, the best to combat
these kind of situations.
PRESIDENT
(still waking up)
How serious can this be? You’re
sending in Delta Force?
GENERAL LOCKE
Very serious sir. We’ve extracted
something from the transmission. A
voice. (pauses) It’s not human.

INT. UNDERGROUND ARMORY - NIGHT

HAWTHORNE
Put the M4 down Douglas. Take the
XM8.
Douglas looks down at both of the weapons.
21.

DOUGLAS
(throwing the XM8 down,
grabbing M4)
Waterguns don’t kill aliens.
CROSBY
(loading shell into SPAS 12)
Shotguns do.
Daniel picks up a Colt handgun much to the displeasure of
Hawthorne. They look at each other.
DOUGLAS
He can’t shoot all three of us at
the same time.
DANIEL
Not with Him running around. What
was the project named after my
memory wipe?
HAWTHORNE
Exion. One of the nerds said it was
the actual name of the beast. Hell
if know. I just make sure it
doesn’t eat people.
DANIEL
(inspecting weapon)
Then how do we kill it?
CROSBY
Ya don’t. You run like hell.
DOUGLAS
(using PDA)
The secondary generator isn’t
completely damaged, I can get 50
percent of the base back up if we
get there.
DANIEL
That’s good news.
DOUGLAS
Not quite. I have no idea where He
is. No communication to the surface
either.
HAWTHORNE
We didn’t anticipate the attack
would happen today. We thought we
had more time...
22.

CROSBY
Let me sum that up for you Dan.
We’re fucked.
DOUGLAS
It’s Dr. Hart to you Cros. And
yeah, pretty much unless we can get
past Him altogether.
A WAIL interrupts the silence, hitting the men in the ears
as the sound reverberates down the corridor into the armory.
They cover their ears as it passes then take up arms.
HAWTHORNE
Repine! Take cover now!
They all dash behind walls, pushed over tables and various
furniture. They aim down the hallway.
The Repine rush down the hill, some with orange eyes others
with yellow. Teeth glaring, saliva dripping, claws shining.
Several of them, wailing, rush down all sides of the
corridor, some on the walls, others on the floor, one on the
ceiling.
HAWTHORNE
Shoot now!
Bullets spew from their weapons like flying lava. They sink
into the Repine before they can even get close.
DOUGLAS
If we’re going to get it back up we
have to go now!
CROSBY
We’re not going anywhere. Take a
peek at what’s behind door number
two.
The Exion stands in full view. A few of the emergency
powered lights flicker on. It’s signature silver blood
oozing from its mouth. It ROARS.

EXT. AREA 51 GROUND - NIGHT (ABOARD CHOPPER/INFILTRATION)

MICHAEL
(through chopper motor beating
on headset)
So we’re going in to extract this
Dr. Daniel Hart right?
23.

JANOWITSKI
Yeah, he’s real important. We’ll
send in a larger unit to clean the
base up.
MICHAEL
Why don’t I see the National Guard
here?
JANOWITSKI
It’s Area 51. No one knows what the
fuck we’re dealing with. If the
base’s SID can’t deal with the
problem then I don’t know what can.
I’m not even sure the President
knows about this.
MICHAEL
Be straight with me here. What are
we dealing with?
JANOWITSKI
I don’t know, I really don’t know.
Just get in, avoid anything rough
and pull him out.
MICHAEL
How do we even know Dr. Hart is
there? There’s something missing.
JANOWITSKI
I can’t disclose that with you.
MICHAEL
Jesus Christ. You’re going to get
my men killed. What the hell is
going on!?!
JANOWITSKI
All you need to know is this. You
get in, steer clear of the bad
guys, get him and get out. Quick as
lighting. The next day they’ll send
in a big unit to wipe it all up.
The base is in the middle of
nowhere, the press hasn’t even
heard a thing.
MICHAEL
I don’t give a shit about the
press. All I want to know is if
we’re dealing with ET or real
fucking people!
24.

LUKE
Why do we need this doctor anyway?
JANOWITSKI
Since when do you bastards ask
questions?
MICHAEL
I just want to know if my bullets
will make it’s target bleed. Can
you tell me that? Can you?
The helicopter begins to descend near the end of the lake,
far away from the area of the base attacked. It touches
down. Luke, Michael and the other squad members THERIOT and
JOHNSON, exit.
JANOWITSKI
Everything bleeds. Some things just
take longer to die.

INT. OVAL OFFICE - SUNRISE

The President is bathed in dozens of lights and is in his
full attire. Surrounded by dozens of military officials and
members of his cabinet he listens intently to General Locke.
GENERAL LOCKE
Our technicians found this sound
byte when combing the transmission.
A scratchy media file is played from a laptop.
VANGUARD LEADER
(in alien language)
I want them all dead. Set up a
perimeter, anything trying to leave
should be shot. (grunt) You! Kill
the one near the radio!
The sound byte ends.
PRESIDENT
Wait a minute. That’s English.
GENERAL LOCKE
Clearly it isn’t. What are you
saying?
25.

PRESIDENT
Yes, yes it is! It’s backwards.
Play it backwards!
A technician types in a key command replay the soundbyte in
reverse. It’s English.
GENERAL LOCKE
How can it talk backwards?
PRESIDENT
Exactly. No human can do that at
will. Jesus. Who do you have en
route to the base?
GENERAL LOCKE
A Delta Force squad. They just
touched down.
PRESIDENT
How many of them?
GENERAL LOCKE
Four sir.
PRESIDENT
I want you to take me there now. To
Nevada. Put all units within range
on stand-by.
GENERAL LOCKE
Yes sir.
PRESIDENT
How much of this does the press
know?
GENERAL LOCKE
They’ll catch on soon.
PRESIDENT
The day the most secret base on the
planet is attacked I have to be the
one in office.

INT. MARILYN’S BEDROOM - NIGHT

A cellphone rings, waking up MARILYN, a young, pretty woman,
sleeping half-naked. She looks at the caller ID and wakes up
immediately.
26.

MARILYN
(answering phone)
What is it Max?
MAX (O.S.)
We’ve got a report, someone said
they saw these lights. She sounded
pretty shaken up about it too.
MARILYN
(going to her dresser)
Where? How juicy is this?
MAX
Pretty juicy. You won’t guess where
it is.
MARILYN
(fixing hair in front of
mirror)
Try me.
MAX
Area 51.
MARILYN
Holy shit, do you have the crew
ready yet?
MAC
Yeah, they’re gonna be here soon.
Where do you want us to meet you?
MARILYN
That diner not too far from the
base.
MAX
Gotcha. We’re the only ones who’ve
got the story but that might not
last long.
MARILYN
Just make sure we have plenty of
film. God knows what’s going on
over there.
Marilyn closes the door to her house, her clothes hastily
put on. Jumping into the car she glances at her watch.
Behind the hands and numbers the name "Daniel" is written.
The i in Daniel has a heart just above it. Daniel Hart.
27.

MAX
I don’t even think God knows what’s
going on over there.

INT. UNDERGROUND EXION LEVEL - NIGHT

DANIEL
Can it see us?
CROSBY
Damn straight, it’s not a T-Rex
shithead.
DANIEL
So why hasn’t it attacked?
DOUGLAS
The smell. It can’t stand Repine,
that’s why they weren’t focused on
us. They were trying to get away
from Him.
HAWTHORNE
How far is the control room from
here?
DOUGLAS
Right past him.
The Exion stands tall, sniffing and staying behind the
Repine corpses. It looks intently, its large head and strong
arms menacing. Its blue eyes pierce the men.
CROSBY
(scratching head nervously)
I say we toss a grenade and run
past. I don’t see no other good
ideas.
DOUGLAS
Either way the smell is going to
wear off soon enough.
DANIEL
Screw it.
Hawthorne rips the pin of a grenade, throws it and begins to
run with the rest of the men. It EXPLODES, shocking the
beast and sending it backwards but not for long. As they try
to run around it, it uses it’s large arms to swoop down on
them. It misses but crashes into the wall, sending sparks
and glass into the air. They shoot blindly at it. It ROARS
28.

louder, frustrated it slams the floor sending them into the

air and onto a stair case.
DOUGLAS
Move move move!
DANIEL
It’s too big to get through here!
The men begin up the staircase as the Exion watches
helplessly. It ROARS as it stomps off angrily.
CROSBY
I would say something comedic right
here. But...that was a bit too
close for comfort for me.
They move off as the Exion dissappears into the black.

EXT. AREA 51 GROUND - NIGHT (ENTRY)

Running through the field, the Delta squad watches closely
for enemy activity. Armed with their night vision goggles
they notice no movement.
MICHAEL
Luke, break up into two man squads.
You and Theriot are Red. Me and
Johnson are blue.
LUKE
(marking a location on HUD)
Roger that. I’m going to take cover
behind that building.
MICHAEL
From there I want a pincer movement
to the door.
The squad members steer away from each other, both traveling
towards their destinations. They reach them within minutes,
backs up against the wall, catching their breath.
MICHAEL
Silencers equipped.
LUKE
Roger that.
MICHAEL
Johnson, what do you see?
29.

JOHNSON is middle aged, dark skinned and is above average in

height.
JOHNSON
(looking through binoculars)
Nothing, pretty quiet. I see a gap
in the wall though, probably the
point of entry.
MICHAEL
No contacts?
LUKE
Negative from my end. I say we go
through their hole. Save time.
THERIOT
Contact!
In the distance a glowing object moves quickly. It appears
to be a ultraviolet orb. THERIOT, the youngest of the group
and shortest moves up to take a better look.
JOHNSON
It doesn’t look hostile. Not human
that’s for sure.
MICHAEL
Pincer now!
The squad converges on each other in a pincer movement. The
orb spins around then returns to the hole. They stop just
outside of the hole, behind a truck.
MICHAEL
Luke, use the stickycam. I want to
see inside that room.
Luke detaches a small object from his rifle and throws it
towards the gap in the wall manually. A video playback comes
to life on Luke’s HUD.
LUKE
Oh Jesus man. Lots of bodies. All
human. Burn marks, bullets,
everything.
The camera moves slightly, everything that was mentioned is
there. Bullets litter the ground, blood is sprayed on the
floor, walls and ceiling. The entire ground level control
room is decimated, smoldering.
30.

MICHAEL
Shit. Okay, send the SITREP to
command.
LUKE
Fuck! That ain’t no goddamn human.
A large creature stands in full view of the camera. It’s
head is part man, part robot. It is covered in fur, scales
and spots of human tissue. On its head it wears a large
Viking-like helmet. It smiles at the camera, it’s teeth
jagged.
VANGUARD BRUTE
Humans. They are here.
The brute runs away.
MICHAEL
Shoot it! Move now!

INT. CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT (ADJACENT TO TESTING ROOM)

The squad rushes in after the creature. They pass the dozens
of bodies, entering the interior of the base.

INT. AREA 51 TESTING ROOM - NIGHT

MICHAEL
Wait up.
LUKE
We can’t go after it. The more time
we waste trying to kill that thing
the less we have to get the damn
doctor. We have our orders.
Michael peers into the testing room. He doesn’t see anything
but spots of blood, some red and another liquid that’s
silver. A few dead human bodies, all wearing a patch with
"SID" engraved on it.
MICHAEL
(walking back to control room
G)
Johnson, can you get me images of
the base from this control room?
JOHNSON
(walking to the computers)
31.

JOHNSON
Yeah, but some of it is damaged,
all the goddamn blood and bullet
holes.
MICHAEL
Just get the surveillance system
up. Let’s try to find the
scientist.
JOHNSON
Yes sir.
LUKE
I’m going to see if I can access
the schematics. Has to be...
A static covered image appears on the screen. A cycle of
camera feeds rotates. The first three show groups of the
aliens moving.
MICHAEL
How many are there?
LUKE
We don’t have that kind of
firepower Mike. We have to find
this doctor now!
MICHAEL
I know.
The camera rotates further, now a large being can be seen, a
leader of sorts, a red chest plate shining. The next image
is of the Exion. The last of the cycle shows creatures
fighting each other, large and small, all dangerous.
MICHAEL
Son of a bitch. It’s a fucking zoo.
On one hand we’ve got the trained
gorillas and on the other we’ve got
the Universal Jurassic Park...
JOHNSON
I’ve got the feed for the other
levels.
THERIOT
No real people?
JOHNSON
Just monsters, devils and demons...
32.

LUKE
There! Look!
Johnson pauses the rotation from the computer. Four men on
the screen walk slowly, weapons at the ready.
MICHAEL
(looking at wrist projection
of biofile)
Zoom in on them. One of them has to
be our boy.
Johnson zooms in on all of their faces until he reaches
Daniel.
MICHAEL
There he is.
LUKE
What floor is that?
JOHNSON
The last, that’s underground.
MICHAEL
How do we get down there?
THERIOT
(going through a chart on a
computer)
I can’t tell, the power in half of
the base is down. Some shit
flickers on, the rest is just plain
dead.
MICHAEL
Can we contact them?
THERIOT
(focused on the computer)
No, I can’t hack into their comlink
server.
LUKE
I guess we’re taking the stairs,
eh?
JOHNSON
I don’t think so.
The screen shows another camera feedback image. The
staircases on flooded with fluid, it covers the walls, doors
and stairs, it appears to be an acid.
33.

MICHAEL
How the hell are we going to get
down there?
LUKE
Blow our way through?
THERIOT
(all looking at him)
No way. I don’t have that much C4.
LUKE
We won’t need that much. Blow up
the elevator, clear the shafts and
voi la.
MICHAEL
Rapel down.
LUKE
Yup. That’s the only way.
MICHAEL
(nodding)
Let’s go.

INT. UNDERGROUND LEVEL - NIGHT

HAWTHORNE
The way I see it we have to get to
the control room and just sit tight
there. Going up to the surface now
is suicide.
CROSBY
With everything running around, yes
it is.
DANIEL
But it’s only a matter of time
before they reach us, whoever
attacked the base.
DOUGLAS
Wait, don’t you know who it was?
DANIEL
Vanguard, that’s all I heard during
the episode.
34.

HAWTHORNE
Then we should get to this floor’s
control room and check out what the
cameras are showing.
CROSBY
Then get the power back on.
DANIEL
At least we’d know what we’ll have
to shoot.
DOUGLAS
What about the shafts? If the
elevators aren’t working we can
still use the shafts.
DANIEL
Do we have the right equipment for
even doing that?
CROSBY
No, that wouldn’t work anyway.
That’s too obvious.
Coming up on a domed room they stop.
HAWTHORNE
There it is.
They move towards the entrance where Hawthorne inputs a
code.
DANIEL
So we’re holding the fort here?
CROSBY
That’s how it’s looking.
DOUGLAS
At least we’ll have some place to
return to. This room is fortified
since its on His floor. We should
be safe from attack here.
HAWTHORNE
It beats walking around out there.
DOUGLAS
From this room I can get more power
back online. The generator isn’t
too far from here either.
35.

The room hasn’t been damaged, everything inside is

functioning as they set their weapons down to relax. Swivel
chairs are turned over and provide the only real comfort in
the room. Circular in shape it had windows on all sides
making for an excellent strategic point.
CROSBY
I’m fuckin’ starvin’.
HAWTHORNE
Search around. There’s got to be
freeze-dried shit down here
somewhere.
DOUGLAS
(sitting at computer chair)
Take a look at this.
On the screen the images that the Delta Squad saw are there,
only updated. The terrorists (Vanguard) are advancing
throughout the floors of the base, searching carefully,
making a mess in order to find something or someone.
The other cameras show aliens fighting or coming into
contact with the Vanguard. One such situation can be seen as
a biped creature runs into a Vanguard and immediately lowers
it’s guard.
CROSBY
(looking at Vanguard)
Jesus they’re ugly. Big too.
HAWTHORNE
We couldn’t get past them with what
we have.
DOUGLAS
(looking at computerized
meter)
They’ll be on this floor soon!
DANIEL
If we get the power back up we may
be able to slip past them.
They go through a few more images, some are just blank or
full of static. They pass one of Michael and his squad.
DANIEL
Wait, go back!
36.

DOUGLAS
(freezing the camera)
That’s military outfitting.
CROSBY
Look at the insignia. Delta Force.
HAWTHORNE
Who are they here for? With four
men they won’t kill a damn thing.
DANIEL
Right. That’s too little for a
clean up squad, they’re too deep to
be recon.
CROSBY
How many people are left in the
base?
HAWTHORNE
I didn’t check, no one is supposed
to be here today save for the SID.
DOUGLAS
Or the nerds. They always stay
late.
DANIEL
(looking at Vanguard)
They’re looking for something.
CROSBY
This is fucked up!
DANIEL
You can say that again.
HAWTHORNE
(pointing at Daniel)
We picked the wrong day to grab
your ass.
DOUGLAS
We’re wasting time. Either we get
the power back on and ride the
elevator or walk up the stairs.
Neither sounds great.
DANIEL
Whatever happened to the emergency
escape system?
37.

HAWTHORNE
You’ve been away a long time. The
chute went haywire, beyond repair.
Without the pods we’d have to walk
up the entire tunnel.
DANIEL
How long will that take?
CROSBY
Days. We don’t have enough
supplies, water, none of that shit.
DOUGLAS
I’m not going to sit around
waiting! I’m turning it back on,
come with me Crosby.
CROSBY
Woah woah woah. Not with Him
running out there. And the Repine.
We have enough bullets for
guerrilla tactics, not head to head
firefights.
HAWTHORNE
He’s right. It’s too risky.
DANIEL
We should try to reach that Delta
squad. At least tell them where we
are and what to avoid.
DOUGLAS
(shaking head)
Different comlink networks. I’d
have to reroute their server, link
up to the global one and then try
to reach them. That’s if I can even
find the right channel.
DANIEL
Don’t tell me how you have to do
it. Just tell me if you can.
DOUGLAS
Yes I can do it but it would take
hours, they would reach us by then.
DANIEL
Start working now.
38.

HAWTHORNE
Crosby get another computer booted
up. He’ll be using this one.
DOUGLAS
(typing away)
This doesn’t solve the other
problem. Those things will reach us
before I can finish.
DANIEL
Not if we distract them.
HAWTHORNE
And how to do plan to do that?
Outside the dome room the Exion watches them from afar. His
way is blocked by a multitude of objects.
DANIEL
(pointing at Exion)
We’ll use him.
The group turns to look at Crosby.
CROSBY
(turning from computer)
Don’t even look at me!

EXT. DINER MEETING - NIGHT

Marilyn pulls up in her SUV, walking into the diner she
brisk and clear, a determined woman. A man not much older
than Marilyn and off regular height and build waits inside.
MAX
Took you long enough. You have
everything you need?
MARIYLN
Yep, it’s all ready in the
truck right?
MAX
Plenty, we have enough to shoot the
entire televised Spelling Bee.
They exit the diner, Max dropping a few bucks onto the
table. Getting inside the larger van they begin to drive
off.
INT. NEWS VAN EN ROUTE - NIGHT
39.

In the back of the van the other crew members sit quietly,
fiddling with the various tools and equipment pieces. Max
drives, Marilyn riding shotgun.
MAX
Did you call your boyfriend?
MARILYN
No, I sent him an email. He’ll get
it when he wakes up.
MAX
What happened to you two?
MARILYN
We just needed time away from each
other. My job, his job.
MAX
What does he do again? I thought he
was a sci --
MARILYN
-- he works at a police station.
MAX
Oh yeah that’s right. But didn’t he
have another job?
MARILYN
I don’t know, we starting going out
when he got his new one, I didn’t
ask him too much about his past.
bothers him.
MAX
Don’t you find that a little --
MARILYN
(annoyed)
-- Would you focus on the road?
MAX
Yeah, sorry.
The van comes to a bumpy stop. The doors fling open as the
crew members silently configure the equipment.
MARILYN
I want to get over this ridge, get
a few quality shots of the base and
then move in.
40.

MAX
Move in? Don’t you know how tight
security is around here?
On the ground a KEEP OUT sign lies, the pole bent.
MARILYN
If it were that tight, they would
have stopped us by now.

INT. AREA 51 LEVEL 3 - NIGHT

The Vanguard platoon slithers down the corridors of the
base, carefully searching every nook and cranny. Tables are
thrown over, offices inspected. Repine crawl along the
walls, watching the Vanguard, making no move. Almost under
the command of the Vanguard leader.
VANGUARD SOLDIER
Gerent! I have found a group of
humans hiding.
VANGUARD LEADER
(following the soldier)
Armed?
VANGUARD SOLDIER
No, they are harmless but may be
able to answer questions.
The group comes onto the office room where three humans, two
men and one woman crouch in fear.
VANGUARD LEADER
(pointing at man)
You! Have you seen this sapien?
He holds up a holographic image of a man. The scared worker
looks at it, his legs about to give away in fear.
SCARED MAN
Uh no, haven’t seen him before.
VANGUARD LEADER
You lie! Have any of you seen
him!?!
SCARED MAN
No, we would have told you, just
please don’t kill us.
41.

VANGUARD LEADER
Useless. Kill them all.
SCARED WOMAN
(rising)
Wait! I know who he is. His name
is...Daniel Hart.
VANGUARD LEADER
Better. Kill them anyway.
The Gerent looks at the holographic image himself. DANIEL
HART. He mumbles something unintelligible.

INT. ELEVATOR SHAFT - NIGHT

THERIOT
This is going to make a lot of
noise, I hope you know that.
MICHAEL
(ignoring)
Johnson, does this take us straight
down, to all levels?
JOHNSON
As far as I can see it does.
LUKE
We’re just destroying the elevator
brakes right? Sending it straight
to the bottom would be stupid.
THERIOT
That’s what I want to do but I
packed too much. One size fits all.
MICHAEL
We’re going to have to take a risk.
Theriot finishes unpacking the C4 and looks into the
elevator shafts. Several are stuck, some with their doors
still open. The rest of the squad drops the rapel ropes down
the shaft and wait until they know they have hit the bottom.
LUKE
Alright that’s it.
MICHAEL
Blow it.
42.

JOHNSON
Or we could blow it then jump on
real quick catching ourselves right
before it hits the bottom...
LUKE
(sarcastically)
How about hell to the no!?!
JOHNSON
(sheepishly)
Jeez, just saying.
Theriot presses the button on the remote. The C4 EXPLODES.
With a SHRIEK the elevator descends to the bottom of the
shaft and stops SUDDENLY.
JOHNSON
(peering into shaft)
You think one of brakes got
snagged?
With a WHOOSH Johnson is ripped from the edge of the shaft
by a winged creature. One of its large wings cuts Theriot
right above the pelvis. Theriot screams loudly as the
creature flies back down into the dark chasm of the elevator
shaft.
LUKE
(aiming rifle)
What the fuck was that?
MICHAEL
Flares out.
Luke drops two flares into the shaft only to reveal several
sleeping aliens, all winged, with large heads and razor
sharp teeth. A few begin to move, as if getting ready to
wake.
LUKE
Son of a bitch.
MICHAEL
(looking at Theriot)
Move away. How bad is it?
THERIOT
(exhausted laugh)
Heh, nearly cut my balls off.
The cut is deep into his pelvis, just above his genitals.
There is a fragment of the clawed wing inside him.
43.

MICHAEL
Luke, where are the medical
supplies?
LUKE
(grim look)
Down there. Johnson had all of that
stuff.
THERIOT
(incredulous)
Fuckin’ A!
MICHAEL
No way we’re getting through that
shaft now. We need to get back to
the control room and try to patch
him up.
THERIOT
(anguish)
Yeah, I can’t even walk like this.
LUKE
Drag him Mike. I’ll cover you.
Luke aims at the shaft opening. Michael drags Theriot by
both of his hands, blood spilling onto the floor. He grunts
in pain and breathes heavily.

INT. GROUND CONTROL ROOM - NIGHT

MICHAEL
(tapping electronic wristband)
I can’t get through to HQ.
LUKE
I know. No communication leaves
this area. There’s got to be a
jammer.
MICHAEL
(looking at Theriot)
He might need a Medevac if we can’t
find him a kit.
LUKE
You go get one. I’ll take care of
him.
Michael nods and runs off into the cold, dark belly of the
base.
44.

INT. DOMED CTRL. ROOM - NIGHT

DANIEL
Just get him to follow you. You
then walk right into them.
CROSBY
Them being the big ass gorillas
with lasers?
HAWTHORNE
Or we could sit here on our hands
and wait for either Him or them to
kill us.
CROSBY
That’s like standing in the middle
of two trains playing chicken man!
DANIEL
Exion follows you, Exion attacks
Vanguard, crossfire, you slip away,
we get to the surface.
CROSBY
With all of that firepower they
could kill him easy, wouldn’t take
long.
HAWTHORNE
Not true. His skin is stronger than
steel last time I checked.
CROSBY
Do I even have a say in this?!?
DOUGLAS
(chuckling)
Nope.
CROSBY
(getting up to leave)
What a bitch...
Crosby walks to the exit of the room and looks back. He
takes only his pistol.
Outside the Exion waits patiently for the first sign of
prey.
Back inside the room Douglas types away while Hawthorne
freezes images of the Vanguard unit’s progress.
45.

DANIEL
Hurry up Frank!
CROSBY
(stalling)
So when I come back Douglas should
have those Delta guys on hold
right? Maybe even get some of the
power up?
DANIEL
I’m going to take care of the
power.
HAWTHORNE
(suprised)
You are? What the hell do you have
up your sleeve?
DANIEL
Don’t worry about it.
Daniel and Crosby exit the room and go their seperate ways
before Hawthorne can detest.
Crosby runs towards the lurking Exion.
Daniel heads towards the "Generator" directional sign.

INT. AREA 51 UNDERGROUND LEVEL - NIGHT

VANGUARD LEADER
How close are we now?
VANGUARD SERGEANT
Very close now. The one we seek has
to be on this level.
VANGUARD LEADER
Are you sure? He may have slipped
through. How throughly have you
searched?
VANGUARD SERGEANT
I assure you no human has gotten
past or around us. The Repine are
valuable eyes when they are
controlled.
VANGUARD LEADER
Make sure that your claim is
protected. If I learn otherwise it
46.

VANGUARD LEADER
will be your head. The Imperator
must be found.
An exhausted Vanguard Brute comes bursting into the pack.
VANGUARD BRUTE
(catching breath)
Gerent! Humans on the surface!
VANGUARD LEADER
They would come eventually. How
many?
VANGUARD BRUTE
Only a few, four at the most.
VANGUARD SERGEANT
Why so little?
VANGUARD LEADER
Intelligence. The humans want to
know what they’re facing before
Detra Omega.
VANGUARD BRUTE
How do you wish to proceed?
VANGUARD LEADER
Find these soldiers, capture them
and bring them to me.
VANGUARD BRUTE
Alive or dead?
The Vanguard Gerent/Leader spoke in his native alien tongue.
A rare smile cracked onto his face.

INT. AIR FORCE ONE - NIGHT

The President sits at his conference table, several other
members take up the rest of the table’s seats. Behind him a
large projection screen sits.
PRESIDENT
Tell me what’s being done General.
GENERAL LOCKE
We’re moblizing a task force to
clean the base.
47.

PRESIDENT
Has communication been made?
GENERAL LOCKE
All efforts to reach base personnel
have been unsuccessful. For now we
have to assume the worse.
PRESIDENT
What about the persons not working
there today?
GENERAL LOCKE
Restricted. We’ll just have to go
without that right now.
PRESIDENT
Any word from Delta Force?
GENERAL LOCKE
Nothing but a partial transmission
before they entered the base. Since
then we’ve lost their signal.
PRESIDENT
So you’re saying we have a
blacksite?
GENERAL LOCKE
Yes sir.
PRESIDENT
Tell me again what we’re doing with
this task force you have created.
GENERAL LOCKE
This is the Nellis installation, we
want to take every precaution.
PRESIDENT
That means?
GENERAL LOCKE
The Marines will be involved, Delta
Force is already inside, the
National Guard is being deployed to
that area as we speak and two local
aircraft carriers are on the shore
of New Mexico and Nevada.
PRESIDENT
So we’re practically ready for a
full-scale war?
48.

GENERAL LOCKE
Precisely. The people who know what
lies imprisoned at Area 51 are
either dead or unreachable. We
simply cannot take a risk here.
PRESIDENT
I agree. However I want to be on
the ground for this. I want to be
there.
GENERAL LOCKE
I don’t think --
PRESIDENT
(stern)
My whole presidency I never knew
what was going on behind those
doors. Like so many before me. If
we have a national crisis here, I
want to be on the frontlines.
A female cabinet member speaks up.
MS. BEANE
That would be good for your
re-election.
PRESIDENT
I don’t give a damn about my
re-election because there will not
be one if this leaks out. The
people will want to know what is
going on once they know something
is going on. I have to be there.
GENERAL LOCKE
(reluctantly)
Yes sir. I’ll arrange a convoy for
you.
General Locke gets up from his seat to exit the conference
room. He is quickly grabbed by the arm and pulled to a
corner as he exits by a grizzled man with gray temples and
an unshaven beard.
MASTER CHIEF PIERCE
(hushed)
You know we’ll have to use them
right?
49.

GENERAL LOCKE
(hushed)
We may have to but that is a last
resort only. That clear?
MASTER CHIEF PIERCE
You’ve heard the stories. What the
fuck are the Marines going to do,
let alone the National Guard.
GENERAL LOCKE
You keep your damn mouth shut.
That’s an order.
MASTER CHIEF PIERCE
You just say the word and we’ll be
ready.
GENERAL LOCKE
Do not use them until I give the
order. Understood?
MASTER CHIEF PIERCE
Crystal.

EXT. AREA 51 GROUND LEVEL - NIGHT

MARILYN
Hurry up!
Max and the rest of the crew huff and puff with the
equipment on their backs. Marilyn holds only a small
microphone.
MAX
(breathing heavy)
Chillax, we’ll be dead before
we even start rolling!
MARILYN
(relentless)
The whole world is going to know
about this soon, I want us to be
the ones to inform them.
The desert sand crunches under their shoes as they stop with
Marilyn standing in front of the crew ready to give a
report.
MAX
Go.
50.

MARILYN
(clear reporter tone)
I’m standing outside of Area 51,
the clandestine base we have all
heard about.
Max drifts away from the crew as they continue to film
Marilyn’s report.
MARILYN (O.S.)
Just beyond me you can catch a
glimpse of the mysterious base.
However it’s what’s inside that has
had many mystified.
Max stops suddenly as he sees something on the horizon.
Bright it moves very slowly. Almost like a huge black cloud,
it stops. Max takes out a pair of binoculars and looks at
the apparent cloud. It has lights. Purple lights.
MAX
Marilyn come look at this!
Marilyn rushes over with her microphone still in hand, ready
to continue shooting.
MARILYN (O.S.)
There’s some type of large object
just behind me. A very large black
cloud. Hey are you getting this?
Max is stunned by the sight, the black cloud stops and the
front of it opens. Captured all on camera the black cloud’s
door is bright like a mystical gateway. Then it vanishes.
MAX
(shocked)
Tell me you got that on tape.
CREW MEMBER
(squinting)
Hey Max you see that?
MAX
(looking out with binoculars)
What? It’s too damn dark...
CREW MEMBER
Here look through the camera, it
has a night vision filter.
Max moves over to the crew member who hands him the large
camera. Max peeks inside. He runs back to the car at full
speed.
51.

MAX
Get back in the car! Everyone
inside now!
MARILYN
(running)
What was it?!?
MAX
(opening van door)
Hurry, hurry, hurry!
Running at full speed in the distance an extremely fast
alien spots them. Galloping like a cheetah right towards
them over the desert terrain.
Max pulls open the glove compartment and pulls out a small
handgun for self defense. He cannot make out the creature as
all goes silent. The rest of the crew jump into the van and
lock all of the doors.
MARILYN
Just get inside Max! Let’s get the
hell out of here!
MAX
Shh...Imagine what they would pay
us--
The sound continues, the running of the animal. Max takes
aim and shoots into the darkness. Nothing.
MARILYN
You scared it off, get inside the
goddamn car Max!
MAX
(curiously)
Wait, I want to know for sure.
Max picks up the night vision camera. With his own eyes he
can’t see much. But as soon as he lifts the camera to his
face and focuses the image he sees the creature, glowing red
eyes. His SCREAM carries further than the screech of the
fleeing van racing away.

INT. AREA 51 GROUND LEVEL - NIGHT

Luke consoles Theriot as he lay bleeding in his arms.
52.

LUKE
You’re going to be okay buddy.
THERIOT
(scared)
No I’m not! All this blood...it
scares me man!
LUKE
It’s not that much, it’s not that
much...
THERIOT
Please man don’t lie to me! Oh
shit...man...I’m gonna die. I just
know it!
LUKE
You are going to be alright, just
think about being alright. Think
positive dammmit, you’re going to
be fine!
THERIOT
(gritting teeth)
Halford better move his ass.
LUKE
He’ll be back soon, he’s never
failed us before.
THERIOT
(laughing hoarsely)
You remember...that time in Kuwait
when he got shot in the ass?
LUKE
(laughing)
Yeah and he got to go home.
THERIOT
Man I wish I was shot in the ass
right now. This shit really
hurts...I thought I was supposed to
go into shock..
Theriot closes in his eyes in exhaustion. He appears to fall
asleep.
LUKE
(whispering to self)
Hurry up.
53.

INT. AREA 51 MEDICAL WARD - NIGHT

Michael moves at a quick pace in the base’s medical
ward. It’s completely empty, some parts even destroyed from
the previous attack. Something MOANS in the distance.
Michael dashes behind a cubicle.
The FOOTSTEPS near Michael. He clutches his weapon.
It hovers over him.
MICHAEL
(looking up)
Jesus...
It looks like a man but has been corrupted in some way. Its
eyes are a shade of purple and its body is rippled with
muscle and disease. A mutated man. It lashes out at Michael.
Michael dodges it’s first swipe, rolling away quickly and
shooting from his knees. The shots hit the beast in the side
and near the kidneys as it lurches at him once again.
Michael rolls backwards this time, hitting a wall. He fires
more as the animal growls and shakes its powerful body in
frustration.
Then another appears and another and another. And yet
another comes from the darkness. Michael freezes.

INT. USS RONALD REAGAN - NIGHT

Marine Andrew Lamarck sits on his bed quietly, wearing a
white tee and shorts, a book held to his nose. His room is
small and another man is laying down above his bed reading a
magazine.
A tall man wearing Commander type clothing steps into the
room and they immediately raise to greet him.
ANDREW
Sir!
They both the salute the commander and he meets them. His
face is stern.
COMMANDER 1
Get your men ready, Marine.
ANDREW
Where are we going?
54.

COMMANDER 1
Nevada.
ANDREW
What kind of operation?
COMMANDER 1
You’ll be briefed soon. It’s the no
bullshit kind of operation.
ANDREW
Yes sir.

INT. NEVADA NATIONAL GUARD CENTER - NIGHT

A large room is full with men all clad in desert camo who
are sitting on folding chairs. They pay attention to a few
men in the front of the room about to speak.
NEVADA CAPTAIN
We’ve just been ordered to Nellis
Air Force base.
NATIONAL GUARD MEAT
You mean Area 51?
NEVADA CAPTAIN
(lightly treading)
I believe that is what some call
it.
NATIONAL GUARD MEAT
So then what do they want us to do?
NEVADA CAPTAIN
Keep the base under a tight
perimeter, nothing leaves, no one
comes in.
NATIONAL GUARD MEAT
What kind of threat?
NEVADA CAPTAIN
We don’t ask any questions.

INT. AREA 51 VANGUARD PARTY - NIGHT

The Gerent and the Vanguard platoon continues to move at a
slow pace. They search meticulously, leaving nothing
important behind.
55.

VANGUARD SERGEANT
A human force will be upon us soon
Gerent.
GERENT
Let them come. They will not be
able to stop us.
VANGUARD SERGEANT
But we do not have the forces
capable to defend against such an
attack!
GERENT
(stopping)
Why do you doubt?
VANGUARD SERGEANT
Because of what the Shadow has told
us. He is not one to lie.
GERENT
(changing subject)
Are the soldiers above dead yet?
VANGUARD SERGEANT
We have just made contact with
them, one is injured and the others
will be dead shortly.
GERENT
Bring me the injured human.

INT. POWER GENERATOR CORRIDOR - NIGHT

Daniel clings to the wall of the hallway. Sounds come from
the base, some electronic others organic. He stops to grab
his ear as his headset vibrates.
DANIEL
(answering)
What’s going on?
CROSBY
I don’t want to do this!
DANIEL
You don’t have a choice, Crosby.
CROSBY
(grunting)
Fine. I should be within smelling
distance of Him soon.
56.

DANIEL
Good, just stay away until you get
confirmation from Hawthorne of the
enemy resistance. Then you know
what to do.
CROSBY
Are you near the generator yet? I
would like to know where I’m going
when I’m being chased by Him.
DANIEL
Almost there, just stay in contact.
CROSBY
Yeah...I wouldn’t want to get
lost...
Daniel moves on now in the dark hallway where glass doors
are the entrances to rooms. He leaves the section and comes
upon an industrial section of the base where red emergency
lights bounce of his skin. Crates, ladders and low catwalks
make up the industrial area. A sign reads POWER GENERATOR
with an arrow that points straight ahead.
Daniel carefully walks, stopping at the slightest noise. The
red lights tell of shadows in the midst, Daniel watches them
closely, some seem to be figments of his imagination.
SHADOW (V.O.)
You are wasting your time Daniel.
DANIEL
(nervous)
You don’t scare me...you’re just a
ghost in the system.
SHADOW (V.O.)
A ghost? I am so much more...so are
you. But you will be a ghost if you
continue like this.
Shadows dance along the walls. Daniel reaches for the
nearest ladder and climbs up it. From there he can still see
the shadows, some etched on the walls and climbing as if
they want to get to him on the catwalk.
DANIEL
Where are you?
SHADOW (V.O.)
Everywhere. Where you are I am.
Where I am you are. Simple. Now
57.

SHADOW (V.O.)
just remember. Before it is too
late.
A huge WHOOSH pushes Daniel against the railing of the
catwalk. He nearly falls of but his hands are pinned against
the metal rods of the railing. He bites his tongue in pain
as the mysterious wind keeps him against the railing,
holding on.
SHADOW (V.O.)
REMEMBER!
As swiftly as it came Daniel is released.

INT. CROSBY’S GAMBIT - NIGHT

The Exion looks at Crosby from a distance as Crosby is holed
up inside a small reinforced room. It doesn’t move towards
him but watches and smells from the distance.
CROSBY
This sucks.
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
(off screen)
Shut up.
CROSBY
Everyone knows I’m the better
technician than Douglas.
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
There is no everyone. Last time I
checked nearly everyone isn’t here
or is already dead. Shut up so that
we don’t end up like that.
CROSBY
How far are those aliens?
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
They’re getting close.
Crosby takes two small spheres from his belt.
CROSBY
I’ve still got the sonic grenades.
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
Good.
58.

CROSBY
Is this line a one way?
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
No shit.
CROSBY
What are we going to do about Hart?
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
(hushed off screen)
He’ll be taken care of. Don’t worry
about it.
CROSBY
Make sure. I just don’t trust him.
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
I don’t trust anyone.

INT. POWER GENERATOR SECTION - NIGHT

The Repine WAIL alerts Daniel at once. He checks his pistol
and then aims towards the noise.
One pops into view from below the catwalk. It bashes it’s
head on the steel underbelly of the catwalk and then climbs
along using the steel links as if it were climbing a fence
upside down. It WAILS again. Another one climbs a ladder
quickly and joins Daniel on the catwalk.
Daniel spins to meet the one right behind him. He drops to
one knee and fires at the Repine. It dodges two bullets and
then jumps at Daniel when it’s met by a bullet to the head,
which downs it.
The second now crawls from underneath onto the catwalk and
swipes at Daniel. Blood dribbles from the cut on his
shoulder and he jumps away, the metal CLANKING as he lands
on his back.
Suddenly another Repine grabs him from underneath the
catwalk, it’s long arm across his neck pinning him against
the catwalk.
The other takes advantage and leaps at him, its clawed feet
grinding into his thighs. It nips at his face as he fights
it off with his hands. The handgun lays just a few inches
away.
59.

They WAIL again now and appear to be ready to kill him. But
with one arm he punches the Repine atop him in the head and
manages to grab his gun. The Repine opens its mouth just as
Daniel lifts his pistol. The bullet exits the Repine through
the back of its head.
DANIEL
(angry)
Get off of me!
Daniel takes his pistol and presses it against the other
Repine’s arm, shooting a couple of times until the arm is
detached from the elbow. It HOWLS and then manages to climb
away as it bleeds to death.
Daniel gets up and limps away.

INT. POWER GENERATOR CORE - NIGHT

The generator is very big and has a large series of handles
for its manual reboot. Daniel begins to reboot them by
moving them up and down until they fall into place. The
lights slowly begin to flicker on...

INT. MICHAEL’S ATTACK - NIGHT

Michael holds his M4 to the face of one of the monsters. The
three others watched him, only their eyes piercing the
darkness while Michael’s light is too dim to expose them
all.
MICHAEL
(whispering into headset)
Luke...do you copy?
LUKE
(off screen)
Yeah, what’s going on?
Michael slowly takes the silencer off of his weapon.
MICHAEL
Got some trouble. Do you read my
transmitter?
LUKE
(off screen)
Yeah, you’re a ways off.
60.

MICHAEL
Leave Theriot. Get here now.
LUKE
Why?
Michael drops the silencer and shoots into one of the
monsters. It YELLS and at once they all attacks him.
The lights burst on.
He sees each one, all Vanguard Brutes.
LUKE
(off screen)
Michael! Michael! What the hell was
that!?!

INT. LUKE’S ARRIVAL - NIGHT

Luke runs as fast as he can, leaving the wounded Theriot
behind.
Running down the corridors he passes cubicles, lounges,
lobbies, elevators, reception desks and more. The signs dash
past him as he refers to his HUD to look for Michael.
MEDICAL WARD ^

INT. MEDICAL WARD -- NIGHT

Michael is backed into a corner when one Brute slaps his
rifle away. It smiles, it’s crude skin shining with the help
of the newly turned on lights. He raises his fists into a
guard but the alien just spits at him in disgust.
MICHAEL
You stink.
Luke comes into the room guns blazing. The M4’s bullets pour
into the monstrous aliens. He YELLS in adrenaline as Michael
jumps away from the salvo of gunfire.
The aliens jump away and dive behind the nearby walls. Luke
and Michael meet up inside a small cubicle where they peer
out over the cover every few seconds.
LUKE
(back against cubicle wall)
I think I hit them all.
61.

MICHAEL
(panting)
That doesn’t mean you killed them.
LUKE
(reloading)
That was a whole clip, what the
hell are they?
MICHAEL
The thing we saw earlier on the
cam. They’re a lot tougher in
person.
LUKE
Not funny.
MICHAEL
I don’t have my rifle.
LUKE
That’s not very good now is it?
I’ll lay down covering fire, you’ll
just have to use that pistol of
yours.
MICHAEL
On my count.
LUKE
To three right?
MICHAEL
No, I was thinking twenty.
The aliens peer across as well but do not see them. They
have weapons and now they glow in their hands, all a faint
green hue.
MICHAEL
1....2....3!
Luke jumps behind cover and shoots at the aliens hiding
behind cover. Michael dashes in between the small crossfire
until he reaches his rifle. The brute aliens begin to shoot
now, different colors from red to green coming from their
weapons.
Michael runs back just as Luke runs out of ammo.
MICHAEL
(panting)
Got it, let’s get Theriot and get
the hell out of here.
62.

LUKE
What about the scientist?
MICHAEL
Let’s just move out of here!
They begin to run away as the aliens move up and take aim to
shoot them in the back.
LUKE
(running)
You have the medkit.
MICHAEL
(smiling)
Right here.
LUKE
How’d you?
Michael shoots back at the aliens and they are thrown off
balance.
MICHAEL
(running and panting still)
I nabbed it on the run for my gun.
One brute focuses his weapon and fires.
LUKE
Nice one!
The bolt zooms into Luke’s back.
MICHAEL
Luke!
Michael catches Luke as he falls and drags him to a corner.
They are near Theriot’s position as Michael checks his hud
map. Intense fire from the remaining brutes ensues, nipping
at Michael whenever he peeks his head out.
MICHAEL
(into headset)
Theriot?
A crackle is the only thing he gets as a response. To his
side Luke lies motionless, his skin slowly turning into a
faint white. Periodic bolts snap around the corners.
MICHAEL
(into headset)
Theriot! Do you read me?
63.

Michael drags Luke further into a room, marked Medical Ward

Server Room. He unzips the medkit, searching through it for
a suitable agent to help Luke.
Turning Luke over, Michael sees the large wound in the
center of his back. The flesh is seared and smoldering. The
blood is already coagulated, rapidly increasing the
biological effect. Michael assesses the wound but turns away
in horror.
THERIOT (O.S.)
(stuttering)
Mik...Michael!
MICHAEL
Damn I thought you were dead.
THERIOT (O.S.)
Pretty close to it...I’ll be
d...I’ll die soon without the meds.
MICHAEL
I’ve got them but Luke got hit. I
can’t drag him away.
THERIOT (O.S.)
Why not? I need something to kill
this pain. I don’t wanna die like
this.
MICHAEL
I’m going to get there, you just
stay tough. I am not going to leave
you behind. I am not going to leave
Luke behind.
THERIOT (O.S.)
(coughing)
I can’t even lift my rifle,
Michael...
MICHAEL
Hold on, I’m going to get your
video camera online so I can see
what’s going on your end.
Michael hears a large whoosh behind him and he turns around
quickly. Nothing.
THERIOT (O.S.)
There’s nothing here on my end. And
if there is...I can’t see a damn
thing from where I am.
64.

MICHAEL
I’ll be able to keep an eye on you
though. The medical ward is far off
from you.
THERIOT (O.S.)
Just as long as you get here...
MICHAEL
I’m going to see what I can do for
Luke, then I’ll come for you. Sit
tight.
THERIOT (O.S.)
Is Luke dead?
MICHAEL
He might be. I don’t know. That’s
what I’m about to find out.
THERIOT (O.S.)
Alright, just stay in touch and
keep be updated. If I’m going to
die, I don’t wannna die alone.
Michael presses a few buttons on his electronic wristband
and a few lights illuminate his face. A static image pops
onto his HUD before it focuses and shows Theriot’s point of
view using the camera inserted into his helmet.
Nothing can be seen on the screen. Michael looks away just
as a large shadow dances in the background of the camera’s
feed.

INT. GENERATOR ROOM

Daniel stands next to the power generator. It is fully
operational or as it seems. A small device is fitted on its
side, glowing green and red.
DANIEL
(through headset)
I’ve got the power back on.
CROSBY (O.S.)
Thanks. Now I can see what’s going
to kill me. Comforting.
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
Douglas isn’t too far from breaking
into their channel. Turning the
power back is only going to help.
65.

DANIEL
Good. I’m going to head back to you
guys now.
CROSBY (O.S.)
Hey what about me? I don’t want to
be the only one outside of the safe
domed room...
DANIEL
(noticing glowing device)
Wait a minute. What the...
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
What’s wrong?
DANIEL
(taking a closer look)
There’s something on the generator.
I’m not sure what it is.
DOUGLAS (O.S.)
What does it look like?
DANIEL
It’s going green and red but it
doesn’t look like a bomb. It’s
something more electronic. Maybe a
jammer but I don’t know for what.
DOUGLAS (O.S.)
That might have been what stopped
the power from coming on.
The device lets off a series of flashing lights and then the
power dies.
CROSBY (O.S.)
Shit! Wanna tell me when you’re
going to turn the lights off when
I’m about to run into aliens? Did
it ever cross your mind?
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
Stow it Crosby.
DOUGLAS (O.S.)
Dr. Hart what was that? Was it the
device?
Daniel turns on his flashlight even though the device’s
light is bright enough.
66.

DANIEL
It had to be. It went through some
color coded signals and then the
power went off. It must be
inhibiting the generator.
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
Douglas can you help him disable
it?
DOUGLAS (O.S.)
Maybe, depends on a few things.
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
And what are those things?
DOUGLAS (O.S.)
I’m still working on this as you
can see.
DANIEL
Let him finish that first, if we
can make contact with the soldiers
we have a better chance of getting
out of here.
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
But you just had the power online.
Restoring it will make the decoding
process go a lot faster.
DOUGLAS (O.S.)
Using this emergency battery power
source on these computers really
limits what I can do.
DANIEL
Fine. Let me see if I can get you
an image of it.
Daniel takes a small cellphone from his pocket and utilizes
the camera feature.
DOUGLAS (O.S.)
Do you have it yet?
DANIEL
Yes but I don’t know how I’m going
to get it to you.
DOUGLAS (O.S.)
Give me your cell phone number, I
can rip the files from it.
67.

DANIEL
694-1123. You know the area code.
Douglas types in the digits and a small program manager
slides onto his computer screen. The decoding software fades
into the background and processes slowly.
DOUGLAS (O.S.)
Got it. The image is downloading as
we speak.
DANIEL
Now just tell me --
DOUGLAS (O.S.)
Oh man. This is trouble.
DANIEL
Why? Is it alien?
DOUGLAS (O.S.)
No, that’s a top grade inhibitor.
It’ll explode if you tamper at all
with it.
DANIEL
Who would put that on the
generator?
DOUGLAS (O.S.)
Someone who doesn’t want us to
touch it.
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
Forget that! Can we disable it now?
DOUGLAS (O.S.)
I’d have to be there. From here
it’s going to be dangerous.
DANIEL
I know what I’m doing just as long
as you are familiar with the
technology.
DOUGLAS (O.S.)
That’s the problem. I’ve never seen
the technology, only the hardware.
DANIEL
What do you mean? So then who wrote
it?
68.

DOUGLAS
You did.

INT. THERIOT’S LAST SCENE - NIGHT

Theriot sits with his head against a swivel chair, watching
his surroundings. His skin is pale as he grabs at his wound
with one hand, the other rested on his handgun on the floor.
MICHAEL
Luke’s not dead. He’s got a pulse!
THERIOT
(tired)
That’s good...That’s real good.
I’ve got a pulse too. Heh, I’ve got
a pulse...
MICHAEL
Stay with me. You’re going to be
okay.
THERIOT
Is there any morphine in that kit?
I’m dying for some of it. Haha,
dying...
MICHAEL
Yeah, there’s plenty, just stay
calm and keep your eyes open. You
are going to live. I want to you to
say that.
THERIOT
(exhausted)
I’m not going to say anything like
that. Not when I know it’s not
going to happen.
Michael looks around the corner again, looking for the
aliens. They are nowhere to be found, nothing is there
except for the shards of glass and matter from the previous
skirmish.
He puts Luke atop his shoulder, the weight causing him to
move at a slower pace. His HUD shows Theriot’s life signs
and position. He was not too far off.
MICHAEL
Okay, I’m, on my way. I’ve got Luke
on my back so this might take a
while but I am on my way.
69.

THERIOT
Good, that’s good to hear. I know I
can count on you Mike....
Michael moves on through the base, exiting the medical ward
and going into a series of lobbies, corridors, lounges and
office space. His HUD shows him getting closer to Theriot
with each step.
A Repine WAIL breaks the silence as Michael backed against
the wall. He checks Theriot’s camera feed. Nothing but
ghosts and shadows on Theriot’s limited point of view.
Michael continues to move on.
MICHAEL
I’ll be there in five minutes.
THERIOT
(grunting)
I can’t wait to see you...
Then Michael caught it. On the camera feed a large shadow
that was moving towards Theriot.
MICHAEL
Open your eyes now.
THERIOT (O.S.)
My eyes are killing me...
The figure got closer and now Michael saw it.
MICHAEL
Open your eyes Theriot!
THERIOT
I can’t even lift them...
It moved closer.
MICHAEL
Open your fucking eyes Corporal!
That’s an order!
Theriot opens his eyes and sees the Brute. It breaks his
neck in one giant swing of its fist.
Theriot’s camera dies.
70.

INT. POWER GENERATOR CORE - NIGHT

Daniel inspects the device closely. He tinkers with it
carefully before sitting down on the floor in frustration.
DANIEL
I can’t remember how I did it.
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
You built it. There’s nothing I can
do to help you.
DOUGLAS (O.S.)
I don’t know much about it either.
I just know it’s top grade and I
wasn’t given access to anything
like it. I don’t even have a record
of its firmware logs.
DANIEL
You just take care of decoding the
server channels. I’ll see what can
do with this.
DOUGLAS
Understood.
Daniel plays with the device’s surface, metallic and nasty
looking. He nearly flinches when another signal light turns
on. The lights dance on and off, perplexing Daniel.
DANIEL
Even if I remembered how to do this
I still don’t have the right
hardware or tools to do anything
about it.
DOUGLAS
You wouldn’t need it.
DANIEL
Is this one of the Rubicon models
then?
DOUGLAS
Yeah, all you need is the right
access code and it’ll open itself.
HAWTHORNE
You do know that code right?
71.

DANIEL
I’m thinking...(to self) What would
I have made the password...?
CROSBY (O.S)
News flash guys! While you were
chit chatting about lights and pass
codes I’ve been tracked by an ugly
thirteen foot monster and face the
potential of confronting a platoon
of pissed off alien warriors. Just
a small reminder. Now you can get
back to your passwords.
DANIEL
I just need to remember. Think.
DOUGLAS
Go as fast as you can. I’m almost
through to their channel.
HAWTHORNE
The aliens are getting closer
Crosby. I estimate ETA at ten
minutes.
CROSBY
Showtime.
HAWTHORNE
Hurry up Daniel.
Daniel nervously backs away from the inhibitor. A new color
flashes on it’s electronic surface. Blue.
DANIEL
Douglas, remind me what state blue
indicates in the Rubicon line of
technology.
DOUGLAS
The inhibitor you’re looking at
wouldn’t need that kind of signal.
DANIEL
I’m not so sure.
DOUGLAS
Are you telling me that the
inhibitor has a small signal light
that has turned blue and is
flickering on and off which would
only mean that is has a bomb
72.

DOUGLAS
connected to it’s main power line
and if it’s tampered with it will
blow up which would send you to a
fiery death?
DANIEL
You just stole Crosby’s role as the
sarcastic asshole but yeah...that’s
about right.

EXT. AREA 51 PERIMETER -- NIGHT

Marilyn stops the van further outside of the base’s
perimeter. She turns her sweaty head, her hair a complete
mess, to the crew members in the back.
MARILYN
You guys okay?
CREW MEMBER 1
I’m not feeling great but I’m doing
better than her.
Marilyn saw the other film crew member. She was bleeding
from the nose and crying at the same time.
MARILYN
What’s wrong with her?
CREW MEMBER 1
I don’t know. She isn’t responding
to anything. I think she might have
turned deaf.
MARILYN
(moving into the back of van)
Damn. There’s no hospital for
miles. We’ll lose the story.
CREW MEMBER 1
(scared)
We’ve already lost Max and she’s
about to die and you’re worried
about a story!?!
MARILYN
Not true. Max could still be alive.
CREW MEMBER 1
How?!? You saw that thing. For all
we know he could be bones by now.
73.

MARILYN
None of us saw anything. We just
heard something.
CREW MEMBER 1
And then you drove off like a mad
woman. I’m going to tell you this.
I am not going back there.
MARILYN
Just think of the money, the story,
our careers.
CREW MEMBER 1
You can’t use money if you’re dead.
Leave me the van so I can get her
to a hospital. You can go back if
you want to.
MARILYN
I can’t film and broadcast at the
same time.
CREW MEMBER 1
I suggest you start learning then.
She will die without medical
attention. I’m sure of it.
Marilyn watches as the second crew member, a female,
convulses softly then the convulsions turn more violent as
the entire van shakes.
MARILYN
Fine. Get out. I’m going back. But
I’m taking the van.
CREW MEMBER 1
Screw you. I can’t drag her through
the desert like this.
MARILYN
You won’t have to.
Marilyn reaches onto the passenger seat of the van and takes
Max’s gun which she retrieved just before he died.
CREW MEMBER 1
You don’t have to do this! You’re
going crazy!
Marilyn aims it steadily. She brushes her hair back and
looks through the crosshairs.
74.

MARILYN
Go back with me.
CREW MEMBER 1
You saw that alien ship. Who knows
what kind of effect it has on
humans. Look at her! She’s nearly
dead!
MARILYN
People die in war and this is a
war.
CREW MEMBER 1
Well then you should be the next
one to die!
He kicks the van door open and attempts to leave. Two
bullets strike him and he drops to the floor.
One more shot rings out in the desert as the van stops
shaking and the convulsions come to a stop.

INT. AREA 51 UNDERGROUND LEVEL - NIGHT

The Gerent stops moving, motioning for the Vanguard warriors
to take cover. He holds no weapons in his hands but he is
larger than all of them.
GERENT
Shh...I smell the Exion.
VANGUARD SERGEANT
I smell another as well. Human.
GERENT
Yes. Putrid. Fearful. Close.
VANGUARD SERGEANT
How do you wish to proceed?
GERENT
The Exion is the goal here. Make
sure the human does not interfere.
If it does, kill it.
VANGUARD SERGEANT
What about restraining the Exion?
GERENT
Use these.
75.

The Gerent hands the Sergeant a bright purple vial. The

Sergeant inserts it into his weapon and moves to regroup
with his men ahead.
VANGUARD SERGEANT
What of the Imperator?
GERENT
He is mine. You focus on the task
at hand. I, and I alone, will deal
with him.

INT. CROSBY’S GAMBIT 2 -- NIGHT

Crosby holds his pistol tightly, moving carefully, stopping
at the hint of any danger. He looks back at the Exion every
so often. In the shadows it creeps, using the entire base to
transport itself. Repine WAILS kept him at bay, the stench
of them enough to stop him in his tracks.
CROSBY
(to self)
I’m being protected by Repine.
Stinking Repine. Wonderful.
He pauses as soon as he heard the slinking noise. Crosby
aims his pistol towards the sound.
CROSBY
(worried)
Hawthorne, what makes the slinking
noise again?
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
I don’t remember what the geeks
called them. I think it was Nekhan.
CROSBY
How big are they?
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
Wait, you mean you hear them?
CROSBY
(sarcastically)
No, I just felt like asking you
because my PDA can’t get to
Wikipedia. (pause) Of course I
fucking hear them!
76.

HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
Not good. Stay away from the floor.
I know it sounds stupid but listen
to me. They use the ground as their
base.
CROSBY
Yeah, I remember when we had to
install that special flooring in
the holding cells.
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
Exactly. If you can find something
to stand on until the noise passes
then you should be okay. I
reccommend large objects like a
desk.
Crosby moves away from the main corridor. He flipps an
overturned table and stands on it. The noise grows more into
a BUZZ and grows closer.
CROSBY
(nervously atop table)
Are you sure this is the best thing
to do? How small are they?
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
They’re like a swarm of bugs. But
they have a drawback; they can’t
survive at any atiltude higher than
five feet, anymore than that and
they will die quickly.
CROSBY
Jesus man, do you feed the damn
things?
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
No, I just know enough to watch my
own ass.
CROSBY
Is Douglas almost done?
DOUGLAS (O.S.)
Not yet buddy. Your distraction
should really help.
CROSBY
That’s nice to know...
77.

Deep in the darkness the Nekhan move closer, slinking into

the floor, buzzing and animated. They ware like an alien
hybrid of black widow spiders and Locust infused with
nanotechnology.
DANIEL (O.S.)
I’m still stumped over all of this.
CROSBY
I thought this was a secure line...
DANIEL (O.S.)
(ignoring)
The Nekhan...aren’t they the
insectoid Nanobots that we’ve been
working on?
CROSBY
Did you have to say that?
Crosby stood on the table, looking with his flashlight. He
heard the noise, it was growing stronger but he didn’t see
them.
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
Vanguard in five minutes.
The ROAR of the Exion nearly blew Crosby from the table.
Alien shouts reverberated throughout the hallways. The
Nekhan buzzing made his ears RING.
CROSBY
Five minutes my ass.

EXT. AREA 51 ARMY PERIMETER -- NIGHT

A large convoy of Humvees, tanks, helicopters and trucks
rumble through the quiet desert, dust spiraling into the air
in the convoy’s wake.
A huge command center shines in the distance, it’s lights
blinding and illuminating the wild Nevada desert. Vehicles
move, soldiers walk and helicopters hover.

INT. APOK COMMAND CENTER -- NIGHT

General Locke paces his nondescript quarters until the
President walks into the room. The President wears a button
down shirt and casual pants.
78.

PRESIDENT
Progress?
GENERAL LOCKE
Well, the Marines are just arriving
and the National Guard is already
setting up their perimeter. Foreign
forces have been contacted and so
far the United Kingdom is already
mobilizing a strike team to help.
PRESIDENT
How much do they know about the
situation?
GENERAL LOCKE
Enough to know that this is not a
drill or a joke. The strike team
they have assembled is most likely
for their own recon of this base.
Who would pass up the chance to see
Area 51?
PRESIDENT
Give them an escort. Make sure
their eyes don’t wander too much.
If what they say about this base is
true, I will not take any
unnessasary risks and that includes
giving access to our own Allies.
GENERAL LOCKE
Understood sir. We’ve also begun
cover stories. No major media
network has gotten ahold of the
story yet but they will catch on
soon.
PRESIDENT
What about the public?
GENERAL LOCKE
Nothing so far. It’s a point of
interest of course, we don’t know
how they will react to this.
PRESIDENT
All I want to prevent is civilians
coming down here with pitchforks or
welcome signs. That’s the last
thing we need.
79.

GENERAL LOCKE
I understand sir. We’re going to do
all that is required to take care
of this crisis.
PRESIDENT
What about Dr. Hart? Has Delta
found him yet?
GENERAL LOCKE
Ever since the infiltration of the
base we have had no communication
whatsoever from Delta Force. Head
of Operations, Lt. Janowitski fears
the worst.
PRESIDENT
This is a complete mess.
General Locke begins to exit the room in haste, answering
his personal phone. The President can only follow curiously.

EXT. APOK COMMAND CENTER CENTRAL OPERATIONS ROOM -- NIGHT

General Locke and the President walk into a bustling room
full of working technicians, soldiers and computers. Phones
are go off and TV screens flash images from news channels,
camera feeds and military radar displays. Nobody even
glances at General Locke and the President.
TECHIE 1
(walking to both of them)
Look at monitor four sir.
They turn to monitor four, a large screen. The entire
command center reduces to a buzz and the screen’s volume is
increased. The image is fuzzy at times and the sound quality
is poor.
MARILYN
(on screen)
I’m standing right outside of Area
51, the clandestine base that most
of you have heard of but don’t know
much about. That is about to end.
I’ve just witnessed a UFO, not a
flying saucer but an alien ship of
gigantic porportions. How a ship
this size was able to go undetected
is beyond me. As you can see...
80.

She continues to talk but the sound quality fails as the

camera shifts over to the desert floor. The alien ship can
be seen in the distance, faintly however but the camera
focuses on an object advancing on the screen. It is a black
spot that comes into focus as it draws closer.
MAX (O.S.)
What’s that?
MARILYN
It appears as if...wait...what is
that?
Marilyn looks out with Max in disbelief as the object gets
closer in seconds. The camera begins to move backwards and
then that develops into a sprint back to the van.
MARILYN (O.S.)
Get in the car Max! Hurry up!
MAX (O.S.)
Wait! Maybe I can kill it.
The camera shifts over to Max holding a small handgun. The
crew member drops the camera on the hood of the car as the
black spot stops just yards away. The video camera is now
aimed at the floor and the rest of the crew members are
inaudible.
MAX (O.S.)
--imagine what they’ll pay us! We
can start everything baby!
MARILYN (O.S.)
I’m not going to watch you die over
our careers. Get in the van!
MAX (O.S.)
(cocking gun)
I’m going to be alright.
The van is started up and the engine comes to life. The
camera is still trained on the floor but is soon picked up a
sweating Max. It shifts from his face to the creature
several yards away. The image gets fuzzy as he goes through
video playback features. As the image becomes clear the
alien creature stands right in front of the camera lens. It
has yellow teeth, the head of a large cat but with spots of
scales and two horns near the brow. It growls loudly.
81.

Max SCREAMS as the camera falls and the handgun lets off
three shots as it falls to the floor. Blood dribbles down
the lens of the camera with only the creature’s legs and the
floor in view. It runs off and someone pulls the camera from
the floor. The video ends.
PRESIDENT
Tell me that’s not what I think it
is.
A news anchor now comes onto the CNN screen.
MALE ANCHOR
(on screen)
What you just saw was not edited or
tampered with. It was not an
elaborate hoax or a joke. It is
very real. Forget what you have
seen in the movies,if
that’s confirmed you may all have
seen an actual alien.
PRESIDENT
(furious)
How the hell was that broadcasted?
GENERAL LOCKE
We’re getting right on it.
PRESIDENT
You better get on it. That is all
the proof the public needs. We’ll
have civilian militias with
shotguns here in minutes if they
find out that is real.
GENERAL LOCKE
Yes sir.
PRESIDENT
I want the National Guard moving
quicker now. I want the perimeter
and I want a secure defense. If
those hounds can kill full grown
men just imagine what they’re
owners can do.
GENERAL LOCKE
I’m taking care of that as we
speak.
82.

PRESIDENT
(as General Locke walks away
frantically)
And I want to know how a goddamned
asteroid got past our radar!

INT. POWER GENERATOR CORE - NIGHT

Daniel talks to himself. Most of it mumbles. The device
continues to flash, preventing the base’s power from working
correctly.
DANIEL
(to self while scratching
head)
What is the pass code? Maybe it’s
her. Maybe his name...
Hawthorne’s voice buzzes into his ear.
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
Crosby is right in the middle of
them now. You better hurry up with
that power or he’s going to end up
dead for sure.
DANIEL
Marilyn.
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
What are you talking about?
DANIEL
Shut up.
The device didn’t react in any way.
DANIEL
Rubicon.
Nothing.
DANIEL
Him. Now I remember...
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
You remember what?
DANIEL
I thought I would have named the
pass code after my girlfriend but
after I found out about her other
83.

DANIEL
little affair I must have named it
after the guy in frustration.
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
Isn’t that bitter sweet?
DANIEL
Max.
The inhibitor flashes all green then all red, all of the
tiny bulbs lighting up at once.
DANIEL
Douglas what about the bomb? It
didn’t go off.
DOUGLAS (O.S.)
If I’m right then it won’t prime
unless you said the alternative
code which would set it off, kind
of like a decoy. That’s the fail
safe for people who think they have
the code.
DANIEL
Shit.
DOUGLAS (O.S.)
What?
DANIEL
I just said the alternate pass
code.
DOUGLAS (O.S.)
The one that sets off the bomb
right?
DANIEL
Yeah.
The inhibitor flashed blue now, the lights going off
perodically, a small digital countdown lighting up.
DOUGLAS (O.S.)
How much time is left?
DANIEL
(beginning to run away)
Plenty!
84.

DOUGLAS (O.S.)
You do know that if it goes off and
destroys the core generator the
entire base will go right?
DANIEL
(sheepishly)
Right.

INT. UNDERGROUND LEVEL CROSBY’S SKIRMISH -- NIGHT

The Vanguard platoon breaks into small squads as the Exion
draws closer. It roars repeatedly to show that it knew what
was near.
The Vanguard Sergeant advances to the front with his purple
vials inserted into his rifle.
The Gerent stands to the back without a bodyguard of any
sort. He just watches.
Crosby sees them but doesn’t look for long.
CROSBY
(into headset)
I don’t even think I need to be
here. They introduced themselves
just fine.
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
Oh yeah. I’ve got it all on camera.
CROSBY
I’m going to get back to you now.
I’ve done enough here wouldn’t you
say?
Crosby gets off the table without realizing the Nekhan swarm
dangerously close by. The shouts of the Vanguard and the
Exion’s ROARS make him grab his ears. The Nekhan struck.
Crosby is thrown against the wall by the swarm of insectoid
nanobots. They buzz and drone making Crosby rip at his ears.
He yells in pain as the nanobots claw at his body. The
entire thing happens in seconds. But the black cloud leaves
no gray area.
CROSBY
(slapping at Nekhan)
Get off of me!
85.

HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
What’s wrong?!? Crosby!
CROSBY
Help me!
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
Douglas pull up a camera. I want to
know what’s going on with Crosby.
DOUGLAS (O.S.)
I’m not getting any feedback from
the cameras in his sector.
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
Could it be the nanobots?
DOUGLAS (O.S.)
I don’t know!
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
Crosby! Crosby do you read me?
Crosby struggles to defend himself from the swarm as it
attacks his legs and then surges onto his entire body.
Dozens puncture his skin leaving small micrometer incisions,
tiny amounts of blood forming on his skin.
CROSBY (O.S.)
Get....them....off...of....me!
He YELLS loudly and then grunts. A large crash is heard as
the drone of the Nekhan fades away.

INT. DOMED CTRL. ROOM - NIGHT

Hawthorne paces the room nervously, grabbing his weapon and
several other objects.
HAWTHORNE
Crosby’s dead and Daniel’s still
out there. We have to reach Delta
Force now!
DOUGLAS
(ferverishly typing)
I know...I’m almost done.
From outside of the domed room a few sparks light up the
dark facility. Roars and crashes fill the base’s deep
chasms.
86.

HAWTHORNE
(nervous)
They are going to be here any
minute Douglas. We don’t have any
more time!
DOUGLAS
I’m not going anywhere without
Daniel.
HAWTHORNE
Who cares about Daniel?
The battle outside rages on. It seems to be getting closer.
DANIEL (O.S.)
(heavy breathing)
What happened to Crosby? Tell me
what happened to Crosby!
HAWTHORNE
He’s dead.
DANIEL (O.S.)
Christ. I’m almost there. How far
is Douglas?
HAWTHORNE
Not close enough...We will not
survive here if he does not make--
DOUGLAS
Shut up Brad.
Hawthorne stops and looks at the computer screen. He changes
a frequency on his mic and begins to speak into it.

INT. UNDERGROUND MICHAEL’S GODSPEED -- NIGHT

Michael came upon Theriot’s cold, dead body in horror. His
neck is broken in three places and he looks like a mangled
toy. The alien reponsible is no where to be found. He drops
Luke and takes Theriot’s ammo and gear.
MICHAEL
(quietly)
Sorry man.
His headset crackles to life, a new frequency invading his
HUD.
87.

HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
(fuzzy)
This...is...Bradley Hawthorne, head
of Special Internal Defense Force
of the Groom Lake military
installation. Do you read me?
MICHAEL
I read you. Where are you?
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
We are in...the lowest area of the
base and should come under attack
soon.
MICHAEL
Who is under your command?
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
(fuzzy at moments)
Douglas Holliday...Frank Crosby who
I fear might be dead and Dr. Daniel
Hart.
MICHAEL
(beginning to move)
I have to get you guys out but the
elevators and stairways are down.
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
Use...the stairway. It should
be...clear by now.
MICHAEL
I’ll get there as soon as I can.
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
How many men do you have with you?
Before Michael can answer Luke begins to shift his body
unnaturally. Michael doesn’t tell until Luke was sitting up,
his eyes a different shade of pink, however getting dark
into more of a blood red.
MICHAEL
Two of my men are KIA and one is
injured and might not make it. For
now it’s just me.
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
Some rescue force...
88.

MICHAEL
Don’t worry, once we get to the
surface the US military will
extract us. We’re going to be okay
as long as we get out of here.
HAWTHORNE (O.S.)
Just hurry up. The same things that
killed your men are on their way to
kill us.
Luke stirs even further now just behind Michael. He rises to
his feet quietly.
LUKE
(deathly)
Michael...What did you do to me?
MICHAEL
(turning in amazement)
You’re alive!
LUKE
Michael...What did...you do to me?
MICHAEL
(inspecting)
Nothing...but you don’t look so
good.
LUKE
(becoming more hostile)
Michael...I’m going to kill you.
MICHAEL
(moving towards rifle)
Take it easy man. Let me look at
your wound.
LUKE
(turning around)
See?
His wound has manifest itself into something much worse.
Large parasites crawl from the crater of flesh in his back.
The crater pulsates green and red like the bolts from the
Vanguard rifles. The parasites squeal and move as Michael
motions toward them.
MICHAEL
(aiming rifle)
Stay still Luke. I’m going to help
you.
89.

LUKE
(turning around in anger)
No! You cannot kill them!
MICHAEL
(aiming with focus)
Stay still Luke. I’m not going to
hurt you. Just turn around so I can
help you.
LUKE
(lurching forward)
Die!
Michael rolls backwards as Luke speeds forward, his eyes now
more red and his tongue as black as death.
MICHAEL
(still moving away)
Luke! Luke!
LUKE
(friendly tone)
Help me Mike. Please...Help
me.
MICHAEL
That’s what I’m trying to do.
LUKE
(shaking with agony)
Liar!
He jumps towards Michael again and Michael responds by
shooting him in both kneecaps.
MICHAEL
I didn’t want to do that.
LUKE
Do what? I don’t feel anything...
Luke dives towards Michael, knocks his gun away and spears
Michael into the wall. Michael YELLS in pain.
MICHAEL
(fighting Luke with fists)
Luke! I’m trying to help you!
Luke stops now, his eyes go back to normal and his mouth
begins to froth a white foam.
90.

LUKE
(friendly)
I know. I know you’re trying to
help me. But now let me help you.
Luke grabs his sidearm in an instant, puts it against his
head and pulls the trigger.

INT. UNDERGROUND EXION LEVEL -- NIGHT

The Gerent moves forward to lead the battle as the Exion
rips at several Vanguards and kills them. The bolts hitting
him do not puncture his skin.
GERENT
(calling out to Sergeant)
Hit him with the serum now!
The Vanguard Sergeant takes close aim, dodging the Exion’s
fists and withstanding it’s giant roars of anger. The Exion
finally stops as the Vanguard platoon ceases to attack him.
He stands still in exhaustion. The shot hit him in the neck,
the titanium plated arrow puncturing the skin, tranferring
the serum into his bloodstream.
He fell like the giant beast he was.
GERENT
(checking body)
Ready him for transportation. Check
the brethen, save those who are
worthy enough to live.
VANGUARD SERGEANT
Yes sir. But we have found one that
is not among us. A human.
GERENT
Is he alive?
VANGUARD SERGEANT
Yes. The Nekhan have preserved him.

EXT. AREA 51 PERIMETER -- NIGHT

The Marine task force’s convoy stops right on the perimeter
of Area 51, Marines emptying into the dark desert.
All move as quickly as possible, National Guard trucks
lining up as well. Tanks on the horizon, helicopters booming
in the distance. One Marine looks over at Area 51, just
behind it the sun rising like a bad omen.
91.

Lines of men and vehicles assemble just behind him and all
around him.
CPT. KAREL
(to self)
This is not going to be a war...
SGT. DONAHOE
What do you mean?
CPT. KAREL
(mumbling)
You saw the ship on the
newscast...(pauses)It’s going to be
an extermination.

INT. UNDERGROUND MICHAEL’S DESCENT -- NIGHT

Michael slides down the stairways, jumping down whenever he
hits the fifth stair of the corresponding flight. Voices
intrude on his concentration.
LUKE (V.O.)
Help me.
JOHNSON (V.O.)
Don’t leave me.
THERIOT (V.O.)
Save me.
Their faces flash all around him, their voices resounding in
his head. He shakes his head as he continues to run down the
stairs but the memories do not cease. They only get worse.
THERIOT (V.O.)
How could you leave us?

INT. DOMED ROOM -- NIGHT

Hawthorne and Douglas burst out of the room just as Daniel
arrives.
HAWTHORNE
(moving quickly)
Time to get the hell out of here.
DANIEL
(moving with them)
Where are the soldiers?
92.

DOUGLAS
(following)
Soldier. The rest of his team is
dead.
HAWTHORNE
(leading the way)
He’s going to be using the
stairwell.
DANIEL
I thought the stairwell was
blocked.
HAWTHORNE
It was before. Now it’s not. Let’s
not waste time on questions.
DANIEL
What about Crosby? He might not
even be dead.
HAWTHORNE
If he wasn’t dead he would try to
reach us, either way he’s gone.
There is no time to go looking for
him.
The group reach a lobby that connects the stairway to a
small training center.
DOUGLAS
There. That’s our way up.
VANGUARD GRUNT
(bursting onto scene)
Humans!
HAWTHORNE
(taking cover)
Take cover!
They all tumble behind training pillars used for striking or
shooting. The alien bolts slam into the walls, sending chips
of concrete into their faces.
HAWTHORNE
(peeking head up above fire)
Cover me!
93.

Hawthorne shoves his rifle into the air at the Vanguard

warriors. They continue to fire as Daniel and Douglas lay
down supressive fire. Hawthorne begins to strafe towards the
stairway, using his rifle’s single shot to keep the Vanguard
down. He reaches the stairway’s door after a roll.
HAWTHORNE
(standing behind open door to
stairway)
Come on! Daniel, cover Douglas!
Daniel reloads his gun and goes back up just as the Vanguard
do the same thing. They grunt and shout but aim carefully
enough to nick at Daniel’s head. He is forced to duck.
DOUGLAS
(strafing towards stairwell)
Daniel! What are you doing?
DANIEL
(over gunfire)
They’ll blow my head off if I--
Douglas shoots more rounds above their heads but one
Vanguard becomes brave, jumps over his cover and places
three shots in Douglas’s chest.
HAWTHORNE
(rushing to grab his falling
body)
Douglas! Goddamnit Daniel!
Daniel glances at Douglas’s lifeless body then rises to
shoot the alien who shot him. The brute falls backwards as
the bullets crush his head.
HAWTHORNE
(over fire)
Move your ass Daniel!
Daniel finishes his last clip, throwing the weapon as a
distraction. He sprints for the stairwell as Hawthorne fires
off random shots. Then the cloud of Nekhan come into view.
But it was not a cloud. It was in the form of Crosby.
HAWTHORNE
(stunned)
My God....
Crosby’s cloud moves over the battlefield, bullets and bolts
doing no damage to it.
94.

CROSBY
(inhuman)
Hello boys.
HAWTHORNE
(astonished)
Crosby?
CROSBY
(inhuman voice)
Was that my name? Nevermind. Names
are for the powerless.
The Nekhan moved Crosby towards Hawthorne just as Daniel
begin to go up the stairs.
DANIEL
(yelling to Hawthorne)
What are you waiting for?!
HAWTHORNE
(passive)
Go.
Crosby’s new form moves closer, putting Hawthorne in a
trance-like state. Hawthorne starts to kneel, the door to
the stairwell begins to close, Douglas’s body slumps onto
the floor from Hawthorne’s hands.
DANIEL
(hesitiating)
Don’t try to be a hero Bradley!
CROSBY
(looking at Daniel)
Heroes. Demons. Angels. Goodbye
Daniel.
Hawthorne kneels in front of Crosby’s Nekhan cloud and bows
his head. Crosby placed his nanobot hand on Hawthorne’s head
and pulls strongly. The door to the stairwell closes before
Daniel can see the blood.

INT. STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN -- NIGHT

Michael stops in exhaustion. His brow sweats profusely as he
clutches the handrail.
DANIEL
(shouting curiously)
Hello?
95.

MICHAEL
(sharply)
Daniel Hart?
DANIEL
(moving up to Michael)
Damn right. You the rescue team?
MICHAEL
(looking around)
What’s left of it.
DANIEL
Am I glad to see you...
MICHAEL
Where’s the rest of your team?
DANIEL
(with grief)
They’re all dead.
MICHAEL
I heard all of that gunfire. I
tried to reach you as fast as I
could.
DANIEL
Don’t worry about that now. Let’s
just get out of here.
MICHAEL
(beginning to run up stairs)
How many were there?
DANIEL
Not nearly as much as I would have
thought. There has to be a larger
force.
MICHAEL
There’s going to be a lot of
fireworks then.
DANIEL
(following up stairs)
Why do you say that?
MICHAEL
Let’s just say there’s going to be
plenty of friendly faces on the
surface.
96.

DANIEL
How much ammo do you have left?
MICHAEL
Half a clip, then my pistol. We
wouldn’t survive a firefight.
Daniel and Michael stop at another flight of stairs.
DANIEL
A bomb is going to go off.
MICHAEL
You kidding? When?
DANIEL
Sooner than later.
MICHAEL
Who planted it?
DANIEL
I don’t know but it’s attached to
the power core of the base which
means that if it goes off now it’ll
destroy the entire base.
MICHAEL
(getting up from short rest)
So we won’t be stopping anymore.
They both get back on their feet. From below a door crashes
open.
GERENT
(shouting)
Move to the surface. Kill any
survivors. Leave the Imperator to
me!
MICHAEL
Move, move, move!
Michael and Daniel dash up the stairs, counting the number
of floors and flights left as they flash by in their
peripheral vision.
DANIEL
(panting)
I’m going to stay behind.
97.

MICHAEL
(breathing heavily)
What the hell are you talking
about?
DANIEL
I helped create some of these
creatures. I studied them, lived
with them and defended them. I will
be the one to fix my mistakes.
MICHAEL
No way. The bomb is going to go off
either way. They won’t make it
themselves.
Michael begins to move again but Daniel does not.
DANIEL
(stronger)
I have to stay.
MICHAEL
I am not going to let you die.
Daniel walks out of the stairwell and joins Michael. Michael
and Daniel move towards a large hangar where they can exit
from. A training device sits ahead. Daniel walks to it.
DANIEL
Okay, you go out the door first
Michael.
MICHAEL
(turning to face exit)
You better be right behind.
As Michael runs towards the exit he stops suddenly when he
does not hear Daniel behind him.
Light begins to beam through the hangar’s windows. Daniel
turns the training device on and it makes an electronic
whirring sound with it’s lights clicking on at the same
time.
DANIEL
(watching the sun creep
through the windows )
I’m sorry Michael.
Michael charges back to Daniel but he is thrown to the
ground by an invisble force.
98.

MICHAEL
(getting up)
What the hell is going on!?!
DANIEL
It’s a force field we’ve been
developing for test situations...
The sunlight shines on the force field that starts from one
end of the hangar all the way to the other end.
MICHAEL
Why are you doing this?
DANIEL
No more innocent people have to
die! I’ve just realized that all of
this is my fault. The aliens, the
technology, the attack. If it
weren’t for my work everything
would have been different.
MICHAEL
That doesn’t matter anymore! My
mission is to get you out of here
because you are the one who knows
how to defeat them. The world needs
you!
DANIEL
Exactly. That is why I must stay
here and kill what I have bred.
MICHAEL
Not like this. You don’t have to do
it this way and you know it!
DANIEL
No. This is the only way.
MICHAEL
(moving towards force field
again)
Let me stay then. I’m the soldier
here.
DANIEL
Don’t try to get through it. You’ll
only hurt yourself.
MICHAEL
No Daniel. Let me stay!
99.

DANIEL
Michael, you should survive.
MICHAEL
You can too. The President can just
nuke the place and you know this.
Why are you choosing the hardest
path!?!
DANIEL
(stern)
Because it is the right path. I
have done so much evil and was
clouded by the justification of
it’s only science and we can learn
from them. But I never realized
what I was really doing. I was just
a pawn in their game and now I want
to kill them. These monsters cannot
and will not survive.
MICHAEL
Then you go and I’ll make sure the
bomb goes off. It’s my duty. This
is my goddamn job!
DANIEL
I’m sorry.
MICHAEL
(hysterical)
No you’re not! You don’t know what
it feels like to lose three great
soldiers, three great men. Watching
the men you’ve spent years with die
in an instant. You have no idea
what that feels like!
DANIEL
But I know what it is like--
MICHAEL
(hysterical still)
I watched my best friend and fellow
soldier shoot himself in the head!
All because I was too weak to
protect them! You are not going to
die! I am not going to let you die!
I will not fail this mission!
Michael begins to bash on the force field, oblivious to the
pain it’s causing to him.
100.

DANIEL
You’ll kill yourself trying to get
past it. Please don’t.
MICHAEL
I will break this if I have to. I
am not going to let you die!
DANIEL
That’s not your choice Michael. It
is not yours to make.
MICHAEL
(insane)
Hey!
The doors to the hangar begin to open, another pair
beginning to overtake the force field, dividing the hangar
between the exit and the base.
DANIEL
You know this is the way it has to
end.
MICHAEL
(as the hangar doors close on
Daniel’s face)
Fuck you Daniel!
DANIEL
(softly)
Live.
The hangar doors shut and the ones to outside open. The sun
blasts in.

EXT. APOK COMMAND CENTER -- DAWN

Military machines drive away from the makeshift base, dust
kicking into the sky, the rumble of tanks and helicopters
drives the desert animals away.
Miles down the road a small flicker of reflected light
catches the eye of General Locke as he stands outside
watching the progress. Using his binoculars he gets a better
look and sees dozens of civilian vehicles racing toward the
base.
GENERAL LOCKE
(running toward Humvee driver)
Cut them off now!
101.

The Humvee drives towards them and is followed by two others

as they drive to intercept the civilian convoy.
HUMVEE DRIVER (O.S.)
Sir, they want access to Area 51.
GENERAL LOCKE
(fuming)
Get them out of here! This is a
military operation not show and
tell.
HUMVEE DRIVER
Rules of engagment sir?
GENERAL LOCKE
If they should choose to become
hostile you can shoot to disable.
Do not shoot to kill. I repeat do
not shoot to kill.
HUMVEE DRIVER
Yes sir.
Locke looks through his binoculars, he watches some of the
civilian vehicles begin to back up.
GENERAL LOCKE
Escort them away from here safely.
HUMVEE DRIVER
Yes s--
A shot rings out and one Humvee drives into a rock. The
others begin to speed away from the civilian convoy until
more shots hit the Humvees.
GENERAL LOCKE
(getting into Humvee)
What the hell is going on?
HUMVEE DRIVER 2
(screaming)
They just started shooting at us!
They hit Wesley and Janson! Shit!
Shit!
The nonmilitary trucks drive off towards Area 51, more shots
blowing into the sky.
GENERAL LOCKE
(to soldier)
Get me over there now!
102.

General Locke’s jeep acclerates towards the madness until a

shockwave stops all of the vehicles and personal on the
base. Everyone turns, even the crazed citizens, to look at
Area 51 where a huge red shield engulfs it. But General
Locke looks at something much worse.
An army of Vanguard warriors.

EXT. AREA 51 HANGAR 3 -- DAWN

Marilyn hides in her van as soon as she sees the army of
aliens. Leaving the camera on the top of the van she
captures all of the video of the alien invasion and red
force field. Now she sees other aliens which are less
uniform. Some are lanky and animated. Others are hovering in
the sky and another made up of a huge cloud.
One last alien comes from the base’s interior and looks more
sinister than the rest. He wears a grand red breastplate.
The creature looks directly at the zoomed-in camera. The
video camera explodes.

EXT. AREA 51 DESERT -- DAWN

Michael stands just outside of the hangar, bloodied and
sweating everywhere. Tears begin to join his prespiration.
Five hundred yards away another hangar stands. On the brink
of his vision he sees the long line of military forces
waiting to attack. The hangar is between the Army and the
Vanguard. Thousands of Vanguard.
He stands on the left on the entire force as he can look
down and see the rest of them. The creatures shriek and wail
in anxiety.
MICHAEL
(to self)
Ok. You can do this. You can make
it.
Then he notices a major detail. The alien with the red
breastplate is there. But the rest of the alien warriors are
sleeping, their heads down in a type of hibernation.
MICHAEL
(to self)
Stop thinking. Just do it. Boom.
Michael runs fast, brushing past warrior after warrior. They
flick by him like afterthoughts. The hangar is still several
yards in front of him.
103.

Behind him the Vanguard warriors’ eyes begin to flash to

life, the presence of the human seeming to wake them.
Michael visibly speeds up. He focuses himself as rows and
rows of aliens are activated by his passing.
With every step that michael takes more warriors
become more alert. We see a few of them bring their weapons
up to their shoulders. Their glowing eyes now stare into
scopes.
Michael takes one moment to glance behind him. Without
warning an energy bolt slashes past him, scoring the side of
his face. With that, his legs let up.
Michael falls to the ground, crawling towards the hangar.
MICHAEL
(holding right thigh in pain)
Son of a bitch!
The hangar is so close, the entrance just a few yards away.
But there is no way to get in. The side entrance’s door knob
is torn away and as Michael uses all of his strength to push
the door open, it does not budge.
Michael sees the news van. Using his last remaining energy
he yanks the door open and jumps inside. The
exhaustion overwhelms him immediately and he closes his
eyes.
An unconcious Marilyn lay in the back of the van.

EXT. DESERT BATTLEFIELD -- SUNRISE

EXT. Vanguard Desert Battlefield
The lines of Vanguard begin to move, the force bubble
engulfing them. They all move at a steady pace, the fliers
or Daemons hovering above, the Nekhan trailing. Like the
Persians sent to crush the 300 Spartans they outnumber the
humans 3:1.
The Gerent leads the group, his red breastplate shining,
trails of dust spewing from the ground in the Vanguard wake.
104.

EXT. MARINE DESERT BATTLEFIELD -- SUNRISE

The Marines all recheck their weapons, tanks coming into
place, helicopters dropping down so that they are just above
the tanks, soldiers and Humvees. The drone of helicopter
motors overwhelms the shouts and commands.
National Guard units pour in as well just as the Vanguard
army continues their menacing pace. The force field moves
with them. They make no intention to attack yet as F-16’s
zoom overhead. General Locke steps to the front of the
frontline. The entire battle is MOS.
GENERAL LOCKE
(lips moving no sound)
Fire in barrages!
The tanks join the line of Marines. One man, General Locke,
moves directly to the front. He screams orders but the roar
of the machines of war make it hard for him to be heard.
The Vanguard are a picture of steady discipline as they
advance. F-16 fighters soar out to attack the force field
guarding the Vanguard. Their attempts are futile, only
harming their own forces from the splash damage.
The glint of the Gerent’s crimson breastplate can be seen as
he leads his army to increase their pace. U.S. tanks and
Marines fire in response, but their shells do no damage.
GENERAL LOCKE (MOS)
Wait until they come within range!
The Gerent orders a halt, unphased by the barrage. He
stares directly at his enemy, then flicks his wrist in
defiance, thus beginning the chaotic battle.
The Repine immediately charge the Humvees. Some are gunned
down, but others replace the fallen without hesitation.
At this moment the Apaches concentrate their fire on the
Repine as the Daemons race to battle with groups of
helicopters. The F-16s try to assist their allies, but meet
resistance from converging groups of Daemons, and are forced
to take the battle to higher altitudes. Both sides take
casualties.
On the ground fierce fighting ensues as Vanguards, Grunts,
and Brutes meet Marines in a mess of energy bolts and
projectiles.
With each advance of the human army, obstacles are added to
the fray. Nekhan fan out and overtake marines in swarms on
different parts of the battlefield.
105.

The Gerent has remained inside the forcefield, watching

intently until this point. General Locke fires most
everything at his command at the Gerent as he finally steps
free of his protection, but to no avail. The Gerent deftly
defeats everything thrown at him.
The Gerent visibly gathers strength and smashes the ground
with his fists, issuing a shockwave of seismic porportions
that deals huge casualties to the front lines of the human
forces.
GENERAL LOCKE
(dying on ground from gunshot)
Pierce...bring them in.
The sky is lit and glows a unique shade of blue as the sun
rises.
The sound of huge rumbles travels across the battleground as
military exoskeletons come into view, marching over the
hilltop, coated and glinting with sunlight.
The Gerent flinches but for a moment before sending his
remaining units to battle the Mechs and joining that battle
himself. Two of the Mechs are overwhelmed by the Vanguard
forces and fall valiantly. Daemons, Repine and Nekhan swarm
the soldiers in exoskeletons until Vanguard grunts line up
their rocket launchers destroying two of the mechs.
Two exoskeletons remain, the Gerent begins to fight them.
One jumps at the Gerent, knocks him off balance but the
Gerent lands a hefty blow sending the soldier onto the
ground where his cockpit explodes. The last exoskeleton is
the leader of the group.
They match each other blow for blow, punch for punch,
grapple for grapple. The Captain downs the Gerent and lands
several powerful blows to his face, blood spewing from his
mouth.
The Gerent kicks him off using his remaining momentum to
drive the last exoskeleton into the ground. He rises
triumphantly, placing his right foot on the exoskeleton’s
"head." The Gerent uses one huge kick to destroy it,
dismantling the "head" from the body. However it blows up
sending him into the air and onto the floor.
GERENT
(rising from hit)
Bring the beast!
The Exion rises from the hangar of Area 51. As all the
humans watch in despair, the behemoth roars.
106.

Without warning, the force of a nuclear bomb rips through

Area 51, tearing it to pieces. It kills all the surrounding
Vanguard, including the Exion. The Gerent is one of the few
who survives the explosion, the humans retreating living as
well.

EXT. AREA 51 BATTLE AFTERMATH -- MORNING

From the rubble, Daniel rises. He is surrounded by a
shimmering bubble that is an aqua-green color which protects
him as he ascends into the air over the battlefield.
DANIEL
(caustic, stoic voice)
What...what has happened?
GERENT
(looking at Daniel from ground
with sarcasm)
So the great Imperator finally
remembers his true origin.
DANIEL
(in disbelief)
What do you mean? Why am I like
this?
GERENT
(wiping blood from mouth)
Did you not heed the Shadow’s
warning? Remember. Have you finally
remembered?
DANIEL
Why are you here?
GERENT
I am here, we are here to retrieve
you Imperator. Have you forgotten
the fact that you are our king?
DANIEL
King? Of whom?
Just behind Daniel a row of purple lights illuminates the
sky, blocking out even the sun. Full alien ships, black and
purple in color, engulf the atmosphere, omnious and
horrifying.
GERENT
We are your people. The Vanguard.
After you came here to observe the
107.

GERENT
humans you stayed for longer than
you told us. We all thought the
worse had happened to you. So we
came to bring you back.
DANIEL
(incredulous)
So then why did you start this war?
GERENT
We had no intention to kill these
simple humans but we thought you
were captured or even worse dead.
Anger overcame me. I began to think
you were a coward for not coming
back to your people. I wanted to
kill you let alone find you.
DANIEL
(sadly)
But you’ve killed so many. People I
know.
GERENT
No. This base the humans call Area
51 was empty today, save for a few
of the harder workers. But I hold
no regrets for the death of humans.
You never did.
DANIEL
Why do you need me then? You’ve
survived without me while I’ve been
on Earth.
GERENT
(angry)
Have you fallen in love with them
now!
DANIEL
I am a huma--
GERENT
No! You are one of us. Your people
need you because they are dying!
DANIEL
What do you mean? Show me this!
The Gerent reveals a small device from his belt. It quickly
expands into a large plasma screen superimposed in the sky
for all to see.
108.

Daniel watches in horror as the Vanguard alien species

appear to be dying. Females lie dead, Vanguard children cry
and the Vanguard males converse among themselves like mad
men. The images flash quickly and only Daniel sees them
completely.
GERENT
Now do you see? We are not here to
kill humans. We are here to save
our leader.
DANIEL
(softly)
You have come for nothing. I am not
going.
GERENT
Then you will upset someone who
does like to be upset.
DANIEL
I do not care. My place is among
humans.
GERENT
Among this doomed race? You are a
fool and a coward!
DANIEL
(furious)
I am not a coward!
GERENT
You are not our King. And if you
are not our King, you do not
deserve breath.
The Gerent flies into the air straight at Daniel and his
bubble shield. Daniel catches the Gerent’s fists and then
twists it until it breaks all the while using minimal force.
Daniel grabs the Gerent’s neck and with one effortless jerk
rips the Gerent’s windpipe from his body. The Gerent’s
lifeless body THUMPS to the floor a pool of blood splashing
the desert ground.
SHADOW (V.O.)
Now, my son, you will die.
The Vanguard ships now disperse hundreds of pods, all of
them screeching towards Daniel and his bubble shield. Daniel
raises his arms as they gather a faint silver glow around
the wrists.
109.

DANIEL
(to self)
Life. To begin anew.
Sparks begin to fly from his hands. The pods come closer,
some firing purple bolts of heat at his bubble shield. Then,
suddenly, an huge EXPLOSION blows everything away. The
soldiers, aliens, trees, wildlife is blown away. A giant
shockwave sends ripples of immense power across the surface
of the Earth, ripping everything and oblierating it as well.
Within minutes the entire planet is barren.

EXT. BARREN LANDSCAPE -- MORNING

Daniel lies on the ground, his bubble shield flickering on
and off, his skin a faint torquoise color. Blood comes from
his wounds as he is the only thing in sight for miles and
miles except for one lone mountain in the far distance.
A hologram appears in front of Daniel, making him turn his
head from his facedown position.
DARYUS
I was the shadow that told you to
remember.
DANIEL
(weakly)
I remember now.
DARYUS
Too late my son.
DANIEL
I remember now Daryus!
DARYUS
I wish it could have come sooner.
DANIEL
(rising from ground)
I remember now father!
DARYUS
Too late.
Daryus, the shadow, looks at Daniel once, Daniel’s eyes full
of tears as he moves to touch the feet of Daryus. Daryus
looks in disgust but touches Daniel’s head sympathetically.
110.

DANIEL
Please father...
DARYUS
You are the last one to have the
mark of the Imperator.
Daniel touches the back of his neck where he has a strange
design engraved in his skin.
DANIEL
Then you do not have to kill me.
DARYUS
I don’t have to kill you...you’re
already dead.
Daryus drifts away just as Daniel begins to cough up ounces
of blood. He bangs the ground with his fist before he
finally lets go.

INT. MOUNTAIN CAVE -- MORNING

Michael sits quietly inside the cave with Marilyn, they both
stay close together, shivering in fear and because of the
cold. The only light comes from a sole news camera.
MICHAEL
You okay there?
MARILYN
I’ll be okay. Did you even feel
that?
MICHAEL
I felt for sure. It was too strong
to be a nuke. It was something
else.
MARILYN
(getting up from ground)
I’m going to go see what’s out
there.
MICHAEL
Wait! We don’t even know if it’s
safe.
Marilyn picks up the camera while walking to the cave’s
exit. Michael follows behind.
111.

MARILYN
You drove us to the mountain and
brought me into the cave by
yourself. For that I am thankful
but we can’t just sit around here
all day.
MICHAEL
(cocking handgun)
Let me go in front. Give me the
camera.
Marilyn hands Michael the camera and begins to follow him
until they see sunlight. They both begin to run.
MARILYN
(stopping suddenly, clutching
belly)
Wait...I don’t feel so good.
MICHAEL
Stay here, I’m going to see if it’s
safe out there!
Michael runs out into the open where he sees the complete
annihilation and the barren landscape.
MARILYN (O.S.)
(in pain)
Michael! I think I might be having
a baby!
Michael quickly dashes back into the cave where Marilyn’s
screams grow louder.
MICHAEL
You don’t look pregnant.
MARILYN
(breathing hard)
Just help me!
Michael props her head and back onto a rock where she takes
her pants and underpants off. The blackness of the cave
shrouds her as Michael tries to pulls her legs up as best he
can.
MICHAEL
Okay, okay. I don’t know. Just
push!
Marilyn screams loudly as she begins to push, the attempts
marked by her grunting. Sweat forms on her brow as the sweat
then joins her new tears.
112.

MARILYN
Do something!
MICHAEL
(stressed)
Do I look like a goddamn doctor!
Keep pushing!
The pushing ceases after several more succesful attempts. A
baby’s wail fills the cave.
MARILYN
(exhausted)
Bring the camera so I can see...
Michael searches for the camera’s light through the dark
using the minimal sunlight coming from outside of the cave.
He finds it and brings it to Marilyn as fast as he can.
MICHAEL
Here...
MARILYN
(carrying baby in arms)
It’s a boy....
MICHAEL
Bring him outside, into the light.
Michael and Marilyn bring the baby outside where Michael
takes him into his arms. The barren land is gray and
smoldering.
MARILYN
Damn you Daniel...
MICHAEL
What?
MARILYN
(shielding eyes from sunlight)
The only one who could have given
me a baby...has it been nine
months...I can’t believe it...
MICHAEL
(holding baby)
He seems healthy. Has one
helluva birthmark though.
MARILYN
(getting closer to see)
Where?
113.

MICHAEL
(pointing it out)
Back of his neck.
The mark of the Imperator lies on the young boy’s neck.
BLACK SCREEN
DARYUS (V.O.)
Life begins anew.
THE END.
