society by imparting knowledge and enlightening and shaping the career of students. Celebration
of Teacher's Day is fairly popular in many countries across the world and is even acknowledged
by UNESCO.
The date for celebrating this special event varies from country to country across the world. In
India, Teachers' Day is celebrated on the 5th of September every year, whereas, China celebrates
this event on 10th September every year. The celebration in each country is generally correlated
to either significant personalities or achievements of milestone in the field of education. India
celebrates Teachers' Day on September 5 since 1962 as it is the birth anniversary of Dr
Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, a prominent thinker, philosopher and an educator. Across the nation
tributes are paid to noted scholar and former president Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan to celebrate his
birth anniversary. Dr Radhakhrishnan believed that "teachers should be the best minds in the
country".
A true teacher is not someone who just teaches academic lessons to his/her students. Rather,
he/she is like a guide, who helps the students in each and every sphere of life, by giving the right
advice. They are future makers. None of the achievers in this world has attained a feat without
the guidance of a teacher.

It also reminds us that so many of societys greatest accomplishments occur because a teacher
made a difference to a student. Teachers provide leadership in education, the role they play in
creating and shaping the future of nations is remarkable.
For students, Teachers' Day is an occasion to pay reverence and gratitude to teachers for their
selfless effort in shaping their career and enriching the education system in the process.
All of us have been students at some stage of our life and have benefited from our teachers.
Celebration of Teachers' Day is a wonderful opportunity especially for all of us to show our
gratitude and appreciation to our teachers.
The teachers inspire us to proceed forward, to build our ethics and prepare us to withstand
obstacles of our life. On this, teachers are honored through various functions and these functions
are celebrated at every place throughout the country. The government also pays respect to them
by giving different awards. On this day, we give them thanks and honour them by saying, we
are grateful to you dear teachers for all you do for us.
