Course Comments: Parent feedback has been very specific in what information they want and we are responding accordingly by continuing to focus on comments. We now expect comments to be short summaries of a students progress and achievement. That the summary is in the format of strength(s), area for improvement (need) and suggestions to support the students learning. No explanation of topics/units or program are to be in the comment; that belongs on the yearly plan outline shared with Parents at the beginning of the year. Mathematics and English Language Arts or French Language Arts comments are to be an overall comment. The strength or area for improvement can be from any strand area. Use plain language. No outcomes stated or outcome language used. Please note: I. In consideration of the new expectations for reporting, the Additional Comment space has been removed. II. We anticipate that we will adjust comment space and character counts for the 2015-2016 school year to reflect these new expectations for comments. IPP Reporting- The accountability of teachers for reporting student progress to parents is the same for students who have individual program plans (IPP) as for all other students. It is critical that the information included in reports provides parents with a clear indication of the progress their child has made in relation to his or her individualized outcomes. Individual Program Plan Reports are issued at the same time as reports for students following the public school program. At the senior high level, courses with the designation IPP are indicated on the transcript.
