-Scene B(The moon)

(19.09.2014)
(Relu)

Note:
What I call "Kids" are the different kids in the group who
don't have an outline yet. But whenever this group talks, you
should see it as a set of different characters.

It's early morning on the first day, around 6:30am.

The front door of the main character's house opens and Amala
comes out into the street, closing the door behind her.
The sky is still grey and the streets are unusually crowded at
this time of the day.
She scampers along the path in front of her, going to the
center of the town where the church is.
She passes several townspeople who are mostly looking in the
same direction and talking about something weird going on at
the church.
The closer the character comes to the building, the clearer it
appears in the background, getting bigger and bigger and more
detailed. You can see the shape of a crane and a strange round
object suspended above the church's rooftop.
A big crowd has gathered in front of its closed doors.
Amala joins her group of friends a little distance away from
the commotion. Some kids are talking among themselves, others
are looking at the strange scene.
Most notably the tall blonde, Andra, is standing by herself
with her arms crossed. She is looking intently at the crane.
(Talk to her)
Andra: ...
(Talk to the other kids)
Amala: What's going on?

(Points finger at the roof of the church)

Little girl: Someone put the moon above
the church, look!
Amala looks in the direction shown to her, at the big,
spherical object suspended by the crane. It looks like it's a
metal encasing of some sort and a face is crudely painted on
it. It seems to be smiling.
(Frowning face)
(Talking to herself)
Amala: What the hell is this?
(Turns to the other kids)
(Talking excitedly among themselves)
Kids: It's exactly like in the game!
: It looks awesome!
: It must have been set up
during the night.
: Does that mean we have three days?
(Talking aloud arms crossed)
Amala: I don't get it.
They all look at her.
Amala: Why would someone go to all
the trouble to put a head up there?
(Sarcastic face)
: That sounds really retarded.
(Kids look at each other then at her)
Kids: That's not a head...
: It's the moon!
Still with her arms crossed, Amala tilts her head to one side
with an expression that says "I don't understand".

Kids: You...
: You mean you don't know?
: It's from Majora's Mask...
She still doesn't get it.
(Kids
Kids:
:

:

look at each other again then at her)

But it's a Zelda...
How can you not know?
I thought you liked Zeldas...
It's Ocarina of Time's sequel.

(Gets very excited)

(Surprised expression)
Amala: NO WAY!
: THERE WAS MORE?
Kids: ...
They brief her about the game's premise and story.
They tell her about Termina, the moon, the three days, the
Skull Kid and the four giants.
(Looks at the suspended face with
a bright satisfaction)
Amala: So that's what it is.
The kids look at her with a worried expression.
Kids: You can be special sometimes,
you know?
Amala looks intently at the face for a couple seconds.
(Talks to herself)
Amala: So the moon is supposed
to crash after three days...
(Looks around her then at the kids)
: That means someone is playing a

game with us.

: Or did you guys do that?
Kids: No way!
: We don't know how to control
the crane!
: And I'm scared of heights...
: And there's no one who can
understand besides us, so
there has to be someone else.
Amala: It's not me either.
She looks at Andra who is still gazing at the crane without
saying a single word, her arms crossed.
Amala: ...
: And it's not Andra either.
: She's way too serious for that.
Kids: If we're really in Termina, then
the countdown started at 6am and
we have 72 hours.
(Talking excitedly)
: It's so cool!
: That game is way better than
our previous one!
: We have to wake up the others!
: But won't the adults think it's
our fault?
They all look back at the commotion by the church.
Outrage is coming from the crowd who doesn't seem to
appreciate the prank.
The church's doors are still closed and the police has yet to
arrive.
Kids: But we didn't do anything...
Amala: And it's just a harmless
prank anyway.

: There's no way that thing can

do much damage even if it fell.
Kids: Yeah, there's nothing inside.
Andra: I'm not so sure.
The startled kids all look at Andra.
She briefly looks at them with a serious gaze and then at the
crane.
Andra: Look at the top of the moon.
(They all stare in the same direction)
: There are cables coming out of it
and going into the crane's arm.
Kids:
:
:
:

Yeah!
I can see them!
Me too!
They go all the way to the cabin.

(Gives a side glance to the group)

Andra: Something's not right here.
: It looks too elaborate to be
a simple prank.
(Looks at the crane's cabin)
: ...
: I want to see what's in there.
: You guys can cover me.
Andra then runs to where the foot of the crane is.
It is located in an isolated street on the left of the church.
Amala runs after her, shortly followed by the other kids.
Amala: Wait for me!
Amala follows Andra. She has to pass through the crowd of
people waiting outside the church.

(Some people are talk among themselves)

People: What is this?
: That thing is ugly!
: I got a bad feeling about this...
: I think I saw that somewhere...
: What is going on?
: Where's the mayor?
: What is the police doing?
(Some will to talk to you)
People: You're up early for a kid.
: Maybe you should go back home.
It's not safe here.
: Did you guys do that?
: Piss off, kid.
Amala: Hey! Screw you, buddy!
Amala finally arrives near the crane.
Andra is waiting by the ladder.
(Talk to her)
(She looks up at the cabin then at Amala)
Andra: I'll go first.
: You can come if you want.
(She starts to climb)
Kids arrive.
Kids: We'll set up a perimeter and make
sure that no one interferes.
: Oh, I'm so scared of heights...
: I don't want to get grounded...
Amala starts to climb.
The higher she goes, the clearer the town and its outskirt
become.
After some point, you can see the horizon and some parts of
the island.
Amala reaches the little platform where the cabin stands.
You almost see the whole island from there.
Inside the cabin, the windows give a great view of the church
and its surroundings.

The cabin is like a little room with shelves and some of the
operator's personal effects.
Smoke is coming from the two sets of controls on either side
of the operator's seat.
Andra is there, examining them.
Amala: Did you find anything?
Andra: Look.
(They both look at the broken
controls)
: Someone made them unusable.
: Whoever did this didn't want the
crane to be used anymore.
(Looks at the moon above the church)
: Meaning that this thing can't
be moved.
Amala: ...
(Looks around her)
Andra: I haven't really looked around yet,
but there has to be something else.
(Looks at the crane's arm)
: After all, the cables ARE coming
in here.
Amala looks at the crane's arm herself.
Sure enough, red cables seem to connect to the cabin.
Andra: Let's have a look around.
Amala searches here and there and comments on the different
things she finds.
(Windows)
Amala: That tower is high...
: I can see my house from here.

(Operator's seat)
(Amala sits down and puts her hands
on the controls)
Amala: ...
Andra: ...
: Slacking off as usual.
(Coffee mug with some rest of coffee)
Amala: Man, that coffee stinks.
(Shelves)
Amala: That's a guy's cabin for sure.
: ...
: What's that?
There's something under the sheet.
Andra: Did you find something?
She takes a digital timer out of the shelves with cables
connected to the wall.
It is reading 71:14.
Amala: That's a very elaborate prank,
alright.
Andra: Maybe it is...Maybe it's not.
Amala: What do you mean?
Andra: ...
: Doesn't it look like a bomb to you?
(Looks at the timer then at the moon)
Amala: Yeah, it does.
: But nothing can really happen
to the town with something this
small, don't you think?
Andra: ...True.

(Looks at the suspended moon)

: But still.
: Don't you wonder where it came from?
: It just...appeared out of nowhere.
(Looks at Amala with her big blue
eyes)
: It's too small to be dangerous.
: But it's too big to be hidden
without anyone noticing.
(After a few seconds)
: Anyway.
: I think it's safe to assume that
something will surely happen in
three days.
(After a few seconds of reflexion)
Amala: ...
: Let's go talk to the others.
They both come down to the foot of the crane.
The kids gather around excitedly.
Amala: There's a timer up there.
Andra: And it reads 71:10.
: We have around three days before
time's up.
Kids:
:
:
:

Awesome!
Just like in Majora's Mask!
Are we gonna look for the Skull Kid?
And the four giants?

Andra: Our best bet would be to look for

the Skull Kid.
: He was the one responsible in-game
after all.
: I get the feeling the one who's
playing with us will go with
that idea, if he's playing fair.
Amala: ...

Kids: Someone's playing Zelda with us...

: But where do we start? We have
no clue.
Andra: First, we need to find where that
moon came from.
(After a few seconds)
Kids: That's right!
: There's no way to hide a thing
that big around.
: There has to be a factory of some
sort.
Andra: If we can find out where it was
made, I'm sure we'll find a clue.
Kids: I think we should also check on
the other kids.
: Who said it was a kid?
: It could be anyone on this island...
: But it's a good way to start.
: An adult Skull Kid would be creepy
though...
: Do we split up then?
I'll go talk to the other kids.
: I'll come with you.
Andra: I'll take a look around town.
Kid: There's a map of the island back
at my place.
: I'll go fetch it.
Amala: And I'll...
A boy storms in and interrupts everyone.

Boy: YOU GUYS!

They all look at him.
Kids: Where have you been?
: What's wrong?
Boy: COME QUICK!
: YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS!
The boy runs off.
They all follow him.
The church's doors had opened in the mean time and the
townspeople have gathered in, leaving the surroundings empty.
Grumble is coming from inside.
The kids enter the building only to find an outraged crowd.
Leading kid: Make your way to the back!
: Hurry!
A heavy commotion is resonating between the walls.
Crowd:
:
:
:
:
:

What the hell is going on?

Who did this?
It's awful!
Where's the police?
Did the mayor see this?
It's those damn kids again.

The church is dimly lit so the kids can't see what's going on
at the back.
The more they approach and the clearer the scene becomes.
Upon arriving, they are all struck with awe.
A huge painting of the dancing Skull Kid stands on the wall
with paint still dripping here and there.
The moon is visible and it has the clear inscription "72
hours".

The painting has a dark and frightening aura to it.

The kids present at the scene all stand silent and shocked
amid the commotion.
Kids: It's real.
: We ARE in Termina.
(Bewildered)
Andra: Something terrible is going
to happen in three days.
Kids: I'm...I'm scared...
: This is too much for a prank...
(Bewildered)
Amala: ...
(Determined)
: Let's go find that guy.
(Unison)
Kids: YEAH!
They all rush back to the entrance, leaving the painting
behind.
Andra:
:
:
:
:

We do as we said.
Let's split up.
You go talk to the other kids.
You go get the map.
I'll try to find the construction
site.
: We meet back at our base in two
hours.

Kids separate and go in different directions leaving Amala all

alone.
Amala: Alright, time to move.
: I guess I'll go to the base first

and get my stuff.

Amala scampers to the outskirts of the town where their base
is and the forest begins.
