Taking time out for music
April 3, 2013, DHNS:
Passionate Bunch

Software professionals are known to be adventurous and ready to pursue
their varied passions. This was illustrated during a one-of-a-kind Kannada
music album launch held recently. The album was created by
Techies4Kannada, a group of IT professionals from the City. Titled Baa
Sangaati, the album aims to unite the global Kannada IT community with its
melodies.

Author and chairperson of Infosys Foundation, Padmashri Sudha Murty, released
the album to a packed audience of IT professionals and music lovers, as well as
director Nagathihalli Chandrashekar and music director V Sridhar.

Addressing the audience, Sudha Murty congratulated the team for bringing out a
music album that was on par with any professional album. The lyrics and music
are interesting and complement each other. That the team has been successful in
their maiden venture speaks volumes of its talent, she added.

Director Nagathihalli Chandrashekar noted that the efforts of the group were
commendable. We often hear that IT professionals face severe paucity of time
because of their hectic work schedule. These IT professionals, however, have
shown
that it is possible to balance their personal life and work.

I admire their level of professionalism in bringing out this music album, he said.
Along with music composer V Sridhar, singers Hemanth Kumar and Shamitha
Malnad were present on the occasion. Speaking about the album, Karthik
Somanath from Infosys and a member of Techies4Kannada, who has composed
the music for the album, remarked, The album comprises eight soulful melodies
across myriad emotions of love and romance. While the composition, lyrics,
production and execution is entirely driven by IT professionals, we have also roped
in some leading playback singers for this project in
order to be able to connect with a wider audience.

Krishnamurthy Hosakote V, from a leading IT firm and a core team member of
Techies4Kannada, said, The team plans to take up similar projects from time to
time, while also introducing new talent from the IT circuit in playback singing. As
the first step, Baa Sangaati has introduced one new IT talent in playback
singing.Krishnamurthy threw light on the fact that most IT companies have active
groups, which are worthy platforms for talent in Kannada music. The event is also
a humble attempt to encourage and inspire several like-minded IT communities to
join hands with the team to do their bit to connect the world with the harmony of
music, he added.

Karthik Somanath, Paawana Poonacha and Shashikanth Narayan have penned
the lyrics for the eight tracks of the album. The songs have been sung by Sadhana
Sargam, Shaan, Hemanth Kumar, Rajesh Krishnan, Shamita Malnad, Anuradha
Bhat, Anil Ambari and Eshaswini M K.The album will soon be released in other
locations around the world.
