Case interviews are conducted in many different ways.
14
What is a Consulting Case?
Example:
Snow Shovels Inc. (SSI) imports and distributes snow shovels. The now
shovel market is relatively stable. As expected, sales depend on demand
and demand depends on weather. SSI has to order it shovels four months
in advance. How many shovels should they order?
Concepts tested during the case section of the interview:
Ability to develop a structured framework and logical approach to solving the problem
Ability to ask the right questions to gather the facts and data needed to solve the case
Problem solving skills (quantitative and qualitative)
Ability to clearly articulate problem-solving process and conclusion at an Executive (C-
suite) level
Strong casing skills comes with practice.
