English Language Requirement
In order to receive a Chevening Scholarship, you must demonstrate that you have fulfilled the Chevening
English language requirement by 15 July 2015 at the very latest.
There may be limited test availability in your country, so you should ensure you have fulfilled the
requirement as early as possible.
You can fulfil the Chevening English language requirement by taking an English language test and
achieving the scores or by claiming an exemption. A full list of exempt categories can be found on the
Chevening website.
Chevening does not pay for costs associated with taking English tests.

Visit the English language section of the Chevening website for more information.

University Applications
For most Chevening Scholarship Awards, you will be asked to select 3 eligible UK university courses that
you wish to attend, in order of preference. You must select three different UK university courses, but they
may be at the same university. If you are awarded a Chevening Scholarship it is expected that you will
attend your first choice course.
We suggest that you include an ambitious choice (that you aspire to gain entry to) and an insurance choice
(that you are confident you will gain entry to).
Applications from all fields are accepted; however you should check your country page of the Chevening
website for details of priority subject areas.
You must submit applications to UK universities before, or at the same time as, applying for a Chevening
Scholarship.

Visit the Study in the UK section of the Chevening website for more information. You may
also find it helpful to read the answers to our Frequently Asked Questions about university
applications.
