Ethical /Moral /Legal Issue
There is a situation that perceived as unethical is also illegal. In other situations, they do
not overlap. In some cases, what is perceived as unethical is still legal and in others, what is
illegal is perceived as ethical. In this movie, it is unethical to give immunity to Don even Don
have help the police to enter the bank and free the hostages. But, it is legal to their country and
can be ethical since it bring happiness to the greatest number. Then, other legal issue that
arises in this movie is Don actually cannot carry on the drug business because as we know,
drug itself is not legal in all country. Dug contains something that can affect others human life.
Besides that, there is a moral issue in this movie. Don broke the morale of his associates by
infiltrating the gang with an alias and taking advantage of the enmity of Singhania and
Vardhaan. He rose to become an undisputed King of the Underworld with his shrewd mind and
merciless tactics. Then, there is a fraud in this movie. Don has lied to police by say that the
plates have been destroyed in the explosion but actually the plates are safe with him. Not only
that, Don also lied when he accomplice with Sameer to make their plan being success and
smooth by make himself get caught by the police. Then, another moral issue in this movie is
when Sameer not honest to his wife since he still help Don even he know that Don making a
plan to steal the printing plates. He even promised to his wife not making something illegal, but
he not keeps that promise. Besides that, there is also ethical issue like greedy and selfish. Don
become greedy to steal the printing plates which is he can become billionaire by steal that. He
doesnt care about others who will get trouble by his wrongful action. He is also selfish when he
making the plan that causes Roma being shoot and also when he trying to escape from Roma
and her teammates. He caused the accidents in road and makes others property like cars being
damaged. In conclusion, there are many ethical/moral and legal issue that arise in this movie.

Consequentialism
Consequentialism is also called as utilitarianism or teleology. Its means that the moral
worth of an action is determined by its outcome. Put simply, the ends justify the means.
Consequentialism can thus be characterized as a quantitative and reductionist approach to
ethics. It can be contrasted with deontological ethics (which do not regard the consequences of
an act as the sole determinant of its moral worth) and virtue ethics (which focuses on character),
as well as with other varieties of consequentialism.
In this movie, from consequentialist point of view, Don feel that what he do is ethical
because of many reasons. First, the police will be happy as the can sheave all the number of
European drug cartel. This is because Don has given the police a disc consists the name of his
associates. From that, all the members of the drug cartel are arrested and the activity of drug
also will affect and decreased. Next, the hostages would also feel happy as they survived and
free from Jabbar and Vardhaan because the action taken by Don. Don has been directed by
police to enter the bank and rescue all the hostages. Lastly, Sameer also will happy as he will
earn money from Don to take care of his wife and also pay expenses of his child that will be
born.
Based on the above reasons, it can be concluded that Don feel that what he do is ethical
as the consequence of his actions bring happiness to the greatest number.
Deontology
Deontology is an approach to ethics that focuses on the rightness or wrongness of
actions themselves, as opposed to the rightness or wrongness of the consequences of those
actions. It is sometimes described as duty or obligation based ethics because deontologists
believe that ethical rules bind you to your duty. It motivates a decision and actions rather than
the consequence of the actions.
In this movie, from deontology point of view, Roma action is ethical because of many
reasons. First, about her duty. It is the duty of Roma as police of Interpol Officer to ensure the
entire villain been arrested to make sure the country will always safe and in harmony situation.
Then, Roma must respect the right of individuals. Roma must keep her promise to give
immunity to Don since Don has save the hostages from being killed by Vardhaan and Jabbar.
Next, in this movie, there is also universalizability. Roma made a decision that was good to do
and that which was considered good to all hostages by enter the bank to save the hostages.
This act would definitely improve the well-being of decision maker and the well-being of the
hostages as well.
Based on the above reasons, it can be concluded that the action taken by Roma as an
Interpol Officer is an ethical thing to do.

Golden Rule
Golden Rule means be good to other and other will be good to you, which also means
do unto others as you would have them do unto you. By apply this, fair treatment will be given
to all stakeholders and universal treatment for human right is achieved. To achieve this, an
individual must act with enlightened self-interest. In this movie, if Im in the Dons shoes, I will
trust my associates like Jabbar and Vardhaan so that they will trust to me also. From that, the
brawl will be avoided. Then, if Im in the Dons shoes, I will save the hostages life by enter the
bank and make something for it. I know if make something kind, I will get reward from it. Such in
this case, Don save the hostages life and then he get reward like immunity from the police.
Next, if Im the Dons shoes, I will not proceed the plan to steal the printing plates since I know
that it is wrong to do so because it was illegal and can affected other people. This is because I
dont want get affected by others wrongful also.

Feelings of remorse/guilt/shame
In this movie, there are many actions taken by Don that I feel remorse and guilt if Im in
his shoes. First, I will feel remorse and guilty when all the prisoners being poisoned because of
me. In this case, Don and his companion, Vardhaan trying to escape from prison and they are
making a plan that causes the prisoners being poisoned and make others face hardship. This is
also showed how egoism Don himself. He is just think about himself and not care about others.
Then, from this movie, I will feel guilty when Roma being shoot by Vardhaan. I cannot take care
of her while she trying to save me and not willing to shoot me. Roma has been told Vardhaan
and Jabbar to shot Don but she refuses to do so, even though Don has killed her brother five
years ago. Next, I will feel guiltier if Im the Dons shoes since I have caused the accident of
many people in the road when Im trying to escape from Roma and his teammate. This situation
happen when Don masquerade himself to someone else and blackmails J.K.Diwan, the vice
president of Euro printing bank, so that he can steal the printing plates. At that time, Roma and
her teammate realized the existence of Don and try to chase him. Those chase scenes has
caused of car accident to others and make others get a pain and suffered because of that
action.

Lessons
There are many lessons that we can learnt from this movie. First is we cannot take
advantage of other kindness. Don make a plan that have been caused Roma being shot
because Roma is too kind and still have feeling to him, thats why she refuses to shoot Don.
There is altruism in Romas action. Roma was sacrificing herself to save Don from being shoot.
But, if Don not making the plan to steal the printing plates, of course Roma and others will not
be affected. Next, we cannot doing something wrong because its not only can make us difficult
but also can make others face trouble. We know that if we making something wrong, there is a
punishment to us. As in this movie, Vardhaan and Jabbar trying to kill the hostages and then
they are getting their distributive justice. Vardhaan has been caught and stay back in prison
while Jabbar gets in killed in process. Then, we cannot give burden to someone because our
wrong action. Don has steal the printing plates and this will give burden to banks party since
they have to make a new one and it will required a high cost.
There are also a vices and virtues in this movie. In example, Roma and her teammates
are responsible to catch the villain as to avoid the criminal from happening. There is also a good
cooperation between Roma and her teammates to catch the villain. Besides that, the lesson we
can learn from this movie is we must use our aql at its best and we cannot misuse it. Al
Ghazzali describes the sage (aql), pig (syahwa), dog (ghadab) and devil (syaitaniyyah) as the
four elements in the nature of man. As in this movie, Don is very smart person. He uses his aql
intelligently but it is for wrong action. He uses it to steal the printing plates. This is because of
his syahwa (lust) and his ghadab (greedy) to become rich is too high. This shows that Don has
failed to control his an-nafs al-mutmainna (good mind) over his an-nafs al-ammara (instigating
soul) as his aql has getting weaker being controlled by the pig and dog instigated by the devil.
Lastly, the lesson that we can learn from this movie is we must fair to everyone around us. But
Don not fair to his associates. This is because he has given the police names of their associates
until his associates have been caught. This is good as criminal can be decrease but he also
must get caught since he also lied to police and he also involved in that criminal. This shows
that Don is very selfish.
In conclusion, there are many lessons that we can learnt from this movie and we must
make it as reminder to ourselves.
