Recce report


I have chosen this location that is located within Hainault Forest because it combines with my
storyline and also I do not need any permission from anyone to be able to film there. The reason
why I have chosen this area to film in is because it conforms to my idea of someone escaping and
usually a concentration camp is mainly in a forest area, isolated. I will be filming a flashback of a
young Jewish boy running through the woods. He will emerge from the side and run past the camera
in order to display the effect of the running. The lighting will be natural. The scene will be edited so
that it is in black and white. There will be a non-Diegetic voice over of my character throughout the
5minute sequence until the end. The cinematography that I am going be using in this scenes consists
of long shots, close up shots and over the shoulder shots. The long shots will be when he is running.
The close up shot is going to show his laboured breathing as well as his facial expressions. The over
the shoulder shot will show the actions he undertakes and also what he is looking at. The point of
view shot can also be used at this moment. These types of shots were used in the films that i have
analysed like in Schindlers list, where the use of close up shot is evident. My character will be
wearing a long one-piece plain clothing, which indicates the idea of having to wear plain clothes that
they have been given to in the concentration camps. The risk assessments that may occur are that it
may rain so the ground would become muddy and this would cause the risk of slipping and falling.
We can overcome this by checking the weather beforehand.

I have used this place for my scene to take place in and it will consist of my character running
through here. The cinematography I will be using here is close up shots, long shots and over the
shoulder shot. The close up shot will be of his eyes and this would show the emotion that his eyes
may give out to the audience. There will be Diegetic noise of his laboured breathing as well as the
non-Diegetic sound of the narration. The change in tone during this act will show his emotion more
as it will collaborate with the characters facial expressions at this point. I will use natural lighting
and also this scene will be edited in black and white. My character will be wearing a long one-piece
plain clothing. The risk assessment is that there might be a branch on the floor that he could
accidently trip over and hurt himself. To overcome this, we will make sure that the ground is clear of
any unneeded sticks or branches.

This is located with in Hainault Forest as well and I will be filming my character running through the
trees and bushes. I will use long shots to exemplify his actions from a distance and also his
surroundings. I will use over the mid shots to show him turning around and low angle shots to
demonstrate the idea that someone is watching him. There will be Diegetic voices of the soldiers
heard shouting and also my characters voice. There will be non-Diegetic sound of the continuation of
the narration. This scene will also be filmed in natural lighting and it will be edited so that it is in
black and white. My character will be wearing a long one-piece plain clothing. The risk assessment
that may occur is that my character might hit his face against a tree branch. To avoid this, we will
make sure that he practices his runs first.
