October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Hollywood Casino Hotel and Raceway is ramping up efforts to call attention to
breast cancer awareness throughout the month of October. Traditionally, October
is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, designed to remind people to take the steps to
have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages while encouraging others to do
the same.
"We have a team every year in the Komen Race for the Cure because breast cancer
- and cancer in general - is something that affects everyone," said Jose Flores,
General Manager at Hollywood Casino Hotel & Raceway. "If just one life is saved
because we've reminded people about early detection, or because someone saw a
pink-themed item on our gaming floor and thought that they really needed to
schedule an appointment with their doctor, then it makes it all worthwhile."
Throughout the month, Hollywood Casino will be selling "Hollywood Strong" tee-
shirts in the gift shop, with proceeds being donated to the Maine Breast Cancer
Coalition and the BRA organization. In addition, Hollywood Casino has placed a
Titos for Tatas donation box on the gaming floor allowing patrons to donate
their "Tito" tickets to the cause. Tito tickets are the tickets customers use for slot
play, allowing customers to cash out after they have finished playing.
Hollywood Casino will also feature various promotions throughout October to
honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For the next three Wednesdays, the first
200 customers who attend Lucky Ladies Night at Hollywood Casino will receive a free pink gift. In addition,
pink themed items will be seen throughout the resort, including pink shopping bags in the gift shop, pink
lemonade and cookies at the hotel, and various pink cocktails for purchase at the Sound Stage Lounge and
Celebrity Bar and Grill.
We have employees, family members, customers, and friends who are breast cancer survivors, said Flores.
"This month is as much about reminding people to do the right thing, and think about early detection, as it is
about honoring the survivors we see every day, and remembering those who have lost the fight. Cancer is an
unforgiving disease, but sometimes a small step in the right direction can make a very big difference."

2015 Visitor & Event Planning Guide
Recently we received the floor plans for the new brewery in Brewer. In our Bangor location, we are currently
using a 5/10 barrel system. The Brewer Brewery will have a 20/40 barrel system. In keeping with other local
companies tradition, the system is being built by Tigpro Stainless Steel Fabricators in Portland, Maine.
The next step is to have Hampden
Electrical and Harley Plumbing of
Bangor and Downeast Sheet Metal of
Brewer and the Redmond Company of
Frankfort, prepare the site for the
system to be installed. After the
system is in place, the next step will be
to add a bottling line. We are in talks
with our friends at Atlantic Brewing
Company in Bar Harbor and we are
planning on purchasing their gently
used system.
We are also working with John
Belding from the Advanced
Manufacturing Center of the College
of Engineering at the University of
Maine. John, his team and a group of his students are going to work on system replacement efficiencies.
