Invitation for the Selection of the Sub-Committee Members of
the 23rd Hong Kong Union for Young Leaders (2014-2015)

On behalf of the 23 Hong Kong Union for Young Leaders (HKUYL) Executive
Committee, I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude towards your unfailing
support throughout the past years. As the new school year begins, I am delighted to
notify you that the 23rd HKUYL Executive Committee is formally in office, and we are
now in the process of recruiting the Sub-Committee of the 23rd HKUYL, so that
together, we can inspire tomorrows leaders today, as per the motto of the Union.

As a member school of the Union, your school is most welcomed to nominate
Form Five Student Candidates for the selection of the Sub-Committee, in which a
maximum of TWO non-Campers are allowed to enter the Selection. Ex-Campers
currently attending member schools are NOT included in this quota and are all
eligible to apply.

The Sub-Committee is consisted of two departments: the Promotion
Department and the Publicity Department. Candidates are required to complete
the attached Application Form and the respective tasks for their department of
choice. Please refer to the attached documents for more details. Applicants will be
assessed according to their performance in the tasks and shortlisted candidates will
be invited to attend our interview. Academic strengths, global and social awareness,
participation in extra-curricular activities, proficiency in English, leadership skills, and
knowledge of the Union will be taken into consideration in the selection process.

Please find enclosed an Application Form, a Principal Endorsement Form, an
introduction of the Sub-Committee Departments, and a List of Tasks for Nominees.
Candidates are to return the completed Application Form together with the Principal
Endorsement Form, the completed tasks for their department of choice, a
photocopy of their school report of the previous academic year, and their personal
rsum to the Union via mail to the General Post Office Box 10379 AND via email to
info@hkuyl.org.hk latest by Friday, 24th October, 2014.

Introduction of Sub-Committee Departments




Promotion Department

This department focuses on the creative aspect of the Union, which includes all sorts of
designs, raging from souvenirs, websites, to all other publications. If the applicant has
an interest in art design or computer technology, we strongly recommend you to apply
for this department.

Publicity Department

This department focuses on promoting the image of the union, as well as managing
contacts and links, including alumni, advisors, sponsors, schools and the media press. If
the applicant has strong communication skills and is interested in public relations, we
strongly encourage you to apply for this department.





















List of Tasks for Nominees


Promotion Department

Candidates must complete task A AND one of the two subsequent tasks (task B or
task C).


A. Suggest a theme for the 23rd Hong Kong Union for Young Leaders and design a
banner based on the theme. You may want to explain the idea and meaning of
the theme.

B. Draw a picture (A4 size) that can represent the Union. You may want to explain
the idea of the picture.

C. Suggest and design a souvenir which will be sold between the Global Awareness
Project (GAP) and the Youth Leadership Seminar (YLS). You may also want to
explain the reasons for proposing the design.




























Publicity Department

Candidates must complete either task C or D; task A and B are compulsory. Please
note that there is no word limit for your tasks.


A. Suggest THREE sources of sponsorship and explain why they are plausible. You
may take into account the accessibility and the amount of monetary sponsorship
that can be raised.

B. The Union is a student-based organization. As no adult will accompany Campers
in our official activities, parents or Teacher-in-charge of member schools are
concerned about the safety of participants. Suggest way(s) on how you can
handle the issue.

C. Suggest TWO possible collaboration with the current Honorary Advisors. You
may refer to the Unions website for the list of our current Honorary Advisors.

D. Suggest a new advisor and suggest way(s) to convince him/her as well as to
encourage him/her to sponsor our activities. You may refer to the Unions
website for the list of our current Honorary Advisors.
