Classroom Rules

Mr. Hauck
1. Obey all CCSD and school rules You have been provided with a list of school and
district rules in your planner. If you have any questions about these rules, please see me
and we can discuss and clarify them.
2. Treat others as you would like to be treated The Golden Rule is recognized and
valued around the world. Respect property of the class, the school, and other persons.
Respect the opinions of others, act in an appropriate manner, and expect the same from
everyone else.
3. Put forth your best effort Learning is an active process. You cant soak it in just by
being in the room. Engage in what we are working on in class, complete your work on
time, bring all materials to class, and take responsibility for your success.
4. Bullying, in any form, will not be tolerated.
Classroom Procedures
Our classroom is like a machine with many moving parts. The more effectively the parts work
together, the more efficiently the machine (the classroom) runs. The more efficiently it runs, the
more we can accomplish. By following the rules listed above and the procedures listed below,
you will play an important part in getting the most out of your experience in this classroom.
Pencils - Please have two sharpened pencils or mechanical pencils at your desk when the
bell rings. You will not be able to leave your seat during class to sharpen a pencil as this
will create a disruption in the class. In the event you find yourself without a sharpened
pencil, raise your hand and notify me (or a substitute teacher) and a loaner pencil will be
provided to you for the remainder of the period.

Restroom Please make every effort to use the restroom during the passing period and
before arriving in the classroom. In the event you need to use the restroom once class has
begun, you must have a restroom pass to leave the classroom. One person at a time will
be permitted to be out of the room with the restroom pass. The restroom pass will be in a
basket on my desk. Place your cell phone in the basket, take the pass, use the restroom,
return the pass, and retrieve your cell phone The restroom pass will not be available for
the first five minutes or the last five minutes of the period.

Class opening and closing When you arrive in the classroom, you are free to move
about and take care of any classroom business, including sharpening pencils, turning in
homework, obtaining missing assignments from absences, placing materials for that days
activities on your desk, etc. The moment the bell rings, you are expected to be in your
seat, ready to begin to work. At the conclusion of class, you will be dismissed by me (or
a substitute). The bell will not signal the end of class, the teacher will.

Homework Homework is due at the beginning of the period. When you arrive in the
classroom, please place your homework assignment in the labeled box on my desk. I will
collect the homework at the conclusion of taking attendance, and after that point, it will
be considered late.

Tardy Attendance will be taken as soon as the bell rings. It is therefore important that
you are in your seat promptly. If you arrive in the classroom after attendance has been
completed and submitted, you will need to go to the office for a tardy slip.

Make-up work In the event of an absence, you will find assignments in the accordion
folder next to the homework box under the appropriate class period. Make-up work will
be due the next class period after it has been obtained.

Group work Scientists often work together in conducting experiments and gathering
data. Our lab exercises and other activities will take place as group work. Each student
will be given a group assignment which will rotate throughout the school year. Each
student is expected to work diligently and effectively as a member of the group. More
information will be provided in class regarding group work.

Putting Forth MY Best Effort
One of my expectations of students is that they put forth their best effort. It is only fair that I do
the same. As your teacher, I will:
Be Prepared
Share my passion for science and learning
Praise often
Maintain an open line of communication with students and parents
Be a partner in your success
Consequences for Infractions
As Junior High School students, you have spent many years learning how to exhibit proper
behavior in a school environment. Further, you are becoming young adults and are learning how
to positively interact in various social settings. Your continuing efforts in this area are greatly
appreciated.
In the event that a student engages in inappropriate conduct of any kind, any of the following
consequences may be implemented:
Warning
Conference with teacher
Phone call to parent
Detention
Conference with parent
Referral to Dean
One of the advantages humans have over animals is the ability to reason, understand the
difference between right and wrong, and choose between the two. Please make every effort to
celebrate your position in the animal kingdom by making good choices and engaging in proper
and polite behavior.
