For Power Shovels
The L&H Industrial, Dura-Life Latch Bar is manufactured with a high strength
replaceable insert that can reduce costs by as much as 300%. Gone is the continuous
task of trimming manganese latch bars or welding an edge on alloy bars. Check out
these features:
Increase maintenance intervals by a factor of 2
Rotate the double-sided insert 180 degrees for a second wear surface in just a
few short minutes
Simply replace the low cost insert when required, not the entire bar
Bar life is increased by as much as 300%
Inserts are made of high alloy steel and pre-hardened to 60 Rockwell so they
resist wear from the very rst latch

Whether made of manganese or alloy steel, latch bars constantly lose the square
latch edge that is absolutely crucial to maintaining a positive latch every time.
Maintaining the edge on manganese bars requires time to continuously trim the
bottom end of the bar making it shorter and shorter until it is nally replaced.
Maintaining the edge on alloy bars requires sometimes daily maintenance to weld
the edge back on the bar.

Maximum Strength: L&H uses only the highest quality forgings for both lower rollers
and rear idler rollers. The forged rear idler rollers far outperform the typical cast rear idler
roller by 2 to 4 times.
Maximum Hardness and Toughness: Final heat treatment of L&H rollers is done
when rough machining is within 1/4" of the nal diameter with an accelerated quench process
that provides exceptional wear resistance and cold weather toughness.
Enhanced Material Options
Extreme Toughness Rollers: L&H offers users who desire the ultimate in material
toughness rollers that are martempered using a molten salt bath in the heat treatment process.

The Deep Engagement driving lugs are better
suited for use in high drive propel systems where
the belt of shoes must function as a chain. The
Omega shoes have just over twice the engagement depth
compared to standard 4100 shoes - and twice the contact

Exta-Width Male Lug Dramatically Reduces "Pull Out Breakage.

Shaft Features
Maximum Strength: L&H uses only close tolerance step forgings in order to retain the
steels grain strength after machining. Grain strength is severely reduced when the shaft is
cut from a raw forging supplied as single diameter bar.
Maximum Hardness: Final heat treatment is done when rough machining is within
1/4" of the nal diameter. This increases spline and thread hardness as well as the overall
strength of the shaft.
Rack Pinion Features
Enhanced Material Strength: L&H pinions are made of higher alloy EN26 steel rather
than the typical 4340 steel.
Maximum Toughness: L&H pinions are heat treated with an innovative accelerated
quench process that provides exceptional wear and cold weather toughness.

By mounting the bronze bushings in the bearing
blocks and locking the shaft to the idler, the
effective bearing area is increased by 100%
Outboard Bearings Eliminate
Excessive Hourglass Wear
Moving the bearings outboard reduces the
edge loading of the bearings to one third the
load of center bearing idlers. The excessive
overturning load (wobble) in center bearing idlers
results in the typical hourglass wear pattern.

The positive stop maintains the preload on the assembled components. When the preload is lost due to
spacer movement on an OEM tapered stop, components begin to slip on the shaft thus creating score
