IELTS Writing Task 2: how to answer any question
Today I want to show you what happens in my brain when I see any IELTS
Writing Task 2 question. (Hm nay ti mun ch cho cc bn bit nhng g din
ra trong u ti khi ti gp bt c cu hi IELTS WRITING TASK 2 no)
Here are my thinking steps: (y l mt s bc m mi ngh trong u):
1.I read the question very carefully, maybe three times. I ask myself "What's
the topic? What is the question asking me to write about?"
(Ti c cu hi rt cn thn, c th l phi 3 ln. Ti t t cu hi ch
l g, u bi yu cu ti phi vit v vn g)
2.I underline the key things that must be included in the essay. I always
answer every part of the question.
(Ti gch di nhng vn quan trng m phi c trong bi lun. Ti
lun lun tr li tt c cc mt ca cu hi)
3.Now I think about my 4 paragraph structure. I can write any type of essay
in 4 paragraphs; I just need to decide what to put in each paragraph.
(By gi ti ngh v cu trc bi lun vi 4 on. Ti c th vit bt c
dng bi no vi kiu cu trc 4 on; ti ch phi quyt nh vit g
vo mi on)
4.If I need to give my opinion, I think "What is the easiest opinion to
explain? What good vocabulary could I use?"
(Nu ti phi a ra quan im, Ti ngh quan im no l d gii
thch nht? T vng no tt ti c th s dng)
5.Then I write down some vocabulary ideas that are related to the topic.

(Sau ti vit mt s t vng cho chnh m lin quan n ch .)
6.I try to write 2 sentences for the introduction: I introduce the topic, then
give a simple answer (including my opinion if the question asks for it).
(Ti c gng vit 2 cu cho phn m bi: ti gii thiu ch , sau
a ra cu tr li n gin (c km theo kin c nhn nu cu hi
yu cu))
7.I write short 'topic sentences' to start each paragraph, then develop my
ideas by explaining and supporting with examples.
(Ti vit cu ch ngn bt u tng on, sau pht trin ca
ti bng cch gii thch v b sung thm v d).
8.I look at the question from time to time in order to check that I'm
answering every part of it.
(Ti xem i xem li cu hi kim xem c ng l ti tr li cc
phn ca cu hi khng).
9.I know that I write about 10 words per line; I can quickly check the
approximate number of words that I've written.
(Ti bit rng ti vit khong 10 t 1 dng; ngha l ti c th kim tra
rt nhanh khong bao nhiu t ti vit)
10. If I need more words (to reach 250), I expand one of my examples in the
main body paragraphs. If necessary, I draw an arrow to show where I
want to add the extra words.
(Nu ti cn nhiu t hn t n con s 250 t th ti cho thm cc
v d vo cc on thn bi. Nu cn, ti v thm mi tn ch ra ch
no ti mun thm t).
