TITLE
The title of this story is Potato People by Angela Wright.

Chapter Summaries
SYNOPSIS
Patrick Flynne was born and bred in the little village of Skullgoragh. The land in
Skullgoragh belongs to Lord Egham. Mr. Graystone is a cruel man who ill- treats
the villagers. The entire village is burnt and the villagers are forced to leave the
land. Sean persuades him to leave Ireland. On his way to America, he meets a
young gypsy girl, Marie. During the journey Patrick and Marie have to overcome
many hardships. However, Patrick never forgets his past or the lessons he learned
from it. He helps and takes care the homeless who turn up his door.

PLOT
SETTING

The story is set in 19th century Ireland during the potato blight, a plant disease
which spreads across the land. Due to this, famine is rampant in the country. The
main character, Patrick, lives in a village by the name of Skullgoragh. Later,
Patrick goes on a journey to America and eventually lives in California.
