Donate-A-Friend
Who: Current UNICEF members
What: Brining in your friends to be UNICEF members! Tell an officer your friends name when you
turn in your app to get up to one activity maximum. One friend is half an activity.
When: Today-10/2
Where: Your respective meeting room!
Why: To promote our club and bring in more members to expand our UNICEF family!
How: Sign up with an UNICEF officer

Notebook Making With Adelante Mujeres (unlimited, but sign up with an officer)
Who: UNICEF members
What: Adelante Mujeres is hosting a notebook making activity to provide children in an orphanage
in Cambodia the necessary tools for success in academics. Members will help out by decorating
notebook covers and packaging notebooks for shipping.
When: Friday October 3rd, 2014 after 7th; 1 activity for attendance and activity for brining
markers/notebooks
Where: Ms. Orbans room (F-17) or in the library
Why: School supplies such as notebooks are taken for granted here. However, there are many
places in the world where a notebook could mean the world to a child.

Help kids start Back to School with Raising a Reader (20 members)
WHO: UNICEF Members
What: Volunteers will help prepare materials such as sorting books, bundling tags and collating
binders.
When: Saturday October 4th, 2014; Time TBA
Where: 489 Valley Way, Milpitas, CA 95035
Why: To provide kids with the materials they need for school in the season of back to school.
How: Sign up with a UNICEF officer

Turkey Trot (25 member)


WHO: UNICEF members
WHAT: Help out with the 10th annual turkey trot run because money collected from run will be
donated to those in need.
WHEN: November 27, 2014 Thanksgiving Morning; Time will be assigned to members by
coordinator of Turkey Trot
WHERE: Downtown San Jose START: Santa Clara Street at Market Street FINISH: Santa Clara
Street at Delmas Street FESTIVAL SITE: Guadalupe River Park / Arena Green
WHY: In the past nine years the turkey trot has donated over 4 million dollars to 3 local charities.
They have added a new charity, second harvest food bank Santa Clara. This run helps collect
money for those in need. This year help them reach their goal of giving a million dollars to the 4
charities. What better way to start your thanksgiving day by giving back to your community!
HOW: sign up with a UNICEF officer then get a form signed and completed back to us by next
weeks meeting

Garden to Table
WHO: UNICEF Members (13 members)
WHAT: Garden2table works to create a sustainable local food system and build
community by improving access to healthy food and teaching people how to cultivate
their own fruits and vegetables. Volunteers will help pick fruit and vegetables for food
banks to use for providing food to the homeless and needy.
WHEN: Saturday October 4th, 2014 from 9:00-12:00
WHERE: 651 Macredes Ave San Jose, CA 95116
WHY: Around SJSU there are over 3,000 fruit trees that go unused. In order to not let
those fruits go to waste, we are going to pick them and donate them to food banks
HOW: Sign up with an UNICEF officer
