Assignment Overview: This assignment gives students the opportunity to strategically evaluate
the Supply Chain of several companies in one industry. The goal is to have students both
evaluate and present recommendations on case studies and critically assess (by asking important
questions and engaging in discussions) the given recommendations.
Learning Objectives: Specific learning objectives include the following:
1. Synthesize your understanding of SCM and its role in supporting the business strategy.
2. Engage in a case study representing the complexities of real decision makers.
3. Critically assess case presentations and probe for complete analysis of the given cases.
Presentation Guide: A team will be assigned to give a 12 minute presentation summarizing the
case study, analyzing the case, and offering specific recommendations. The 12 minute
presentation is meant to be an overview for the pursuing discussion about the case. Each team is
free to develop their presentation as they see fit, but each presentation should be profession and
presenting teams should take on the persona of consultants.
Organization: The presentation can be organized in many ways. A basic style might include an
introduction with background on the case, a description of your analysis, and specific
recommendations.
Question Guide: A second teams will be assigned as a review panel to ask important
questions about the case. These questions should result in a professional discussion about the
case. This second team should engage the first (presenting team) and should take on the persona
of the given companys highest level executives.
General Thoughts: Below are a few thoughts to consider as you prepare your presentation.
This is a professional presentation. Be and speak professional.
Embody your professional persona.
Engage the audience with energy and professional creativity.
Limit your use of PowerPoint slides (5). Additional back up slides are appropriate for
the question / discussion session. Note cards are not professional.
Dress is (nice) business casual.
