Piracy vs Mutiny in High Seas

In piracy, the persons who attack the vessel or seize its cargo are strangers to said vessels, but under PD
532, passengers and members of the complement of the vessel, in Philippine waters, can commit piracy; while in
mutiny, the offenders are members of the complement of the vessel and may be committed by the passengers.
(Art.122 as amended and PD 532 exists harmoniously as separate laws)
In piracy, intent to gain is essential; while in mutiny, the offenders may only intend to ignore the ships
officers or they may be prompted to commit plunder.
