Wireless Communication and Network Research

Objective:
To pursue graduate studies as a wireless Communication and networks researcher. To explore the respective field of
Engineering, new technologies, and emerging trends in wireless next generation networks for the sake of learning and
growth, as a research scholar, under the supervision of world renowned researchers as well as in their respective labs,
research projects and institutes.
Research Interests: Wireless Cooperative Communication, Network Coding and its variants, Coding theory, MAC Layer and
Cross layer designs, Cognitive Radio Networks, PHY layer modeling.

Education and
Training

BS Telecommunication Engineering
University Of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar, Pakistan

(2008-2012)

This course provided theoretical and practical knowledge of Communication Engineering, a

comprehensive insight into Data Communication and Computer networks, as well as Wireless
communication focusing in particular on next generation networks. The contributions of Digital
Image Processing to this area was also prominently covered as well as Digital Signal Processing,
Microwave engineering and radio planning, and RADAR systems.
Grades: Upper 2nd Class Honors

Higher Secondary School Certificate (Pre-Engineering)

GPGC No 1, Abbottabad, Pakistan

(2006-2008)

This course provided the base of my Engineering career, basic theoretical knowledge of
mathematics, applied sciences, and compulsory English Language courses.
Grades: 77%

Educational
Projects

RF Engineer at Telenor SDR Swap Project

Field Job in CODIT Communications

(Nov 2012 Feb 2013)

Gained essential field experience as an internee at Telenor SDR Swap project in C2 region. Worked
on TEMS investigation software to collect the values of different parameters in RF drive test,
gained experience of BTS sites audit and verification. The working cellular technology was EDGE
(GSM).

Network Coding: Performance analysis in wireless cooperative networks

Final Year research Project of Bachelor degree

Network coding is a new arena in communication networks, in which data is manipulated inside
the network to increase throughput, reduce delay, and improve robustness. This field has recently
found commercial applications in content distribution, peer-to-peer design, and enabling high-

throughput wireless networks.

We have explored the two variants of Networks Coding i.e. Physical Layer Network Coding (PNC)
and Analog Network Coding (ANC). Analyzed the performance of both techniques in wireless
cooperative/relay networks. We evaluated the performance of ANC and PNC over different fading
channels and using different scenarios using MATLAB. This resulted in publication of three papers;
1 conference and 2 journals.

Designing a Tool for Image Processing

8th semester DIP project

This project gave me the detail insight into image processing. I made a tool in MATLAB GUI which
performs the functions to enhance the image through image spatial filters and histogram
equalization etc.

Analytical Study of LTE and LTE-Advanced

6th Semester Wireless Communications Project

Studied LTE and LTE-Advanced, their technologies and features. Core network, Evolved Packet
Core (EPC) and radio access network, EUTRAN in EPS were analyzed thoroughly. Also, issues
related to LTE-Advanced were studied in this project. It gave me an idea of my FYP and future
research works. Previous generation analysis like GSM, GPRS, EDGE, HSPA, and UMTS is also
performed in this project.

Skills and Expertise

Network Tools and programming skills: Competent with MATLAB, used during my research. Have
used OPNET, NS2 and Optisim in semester courses. Competent in C programming language.
Excellent in technical and research paper writing, and high level of interest in research and
development.
Team Leadership Skills and Achievements: Excellent speaking and problem solving skills,
especially when comes to team leadership.
Team leader of NUMUN team from university, which gave me a great experience of
leadership.
Holder of ICT R & D Fund scholarship for BS Engineering from ministry of IT, Pakistan
Chief Organizer of campus annual mini Olympics (2011 and 2012).
President of campus societys Arts Cell.
President of debating society of campus.
