Censorship study
The article I chose to do the scholarly article project on was Censorship Studies. I who
strive to become a journalist in my prominent future, that censorship really hits me hard. I like
many other writers have very strong ideals that we want to express to the public and all other
form of life willing to listen. Now before I summarize what my article is about and the
experiments that this party used to conduct their hypostasis, I will explain what exactly
censorship is.
So to tell you what censorship is, I have found a definition of the exact word on
Wikipedia, this being an encyclopedia that is constantly being updated it is known to have very
as close to the information as you can find. So according to this internet encyclopedia the word
censorship means the suppression of speech, public communication or other information which may
be considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, politically incorrect or inconvenient as determined by
governments, media outlets, authorities or other such entities. (Censorship. (2014, August 31).
Retrieved September 9, 2014.)
So in summary of what the word censorship means is when someone tells you what you can and
cannot say or pun into a final print of a journal and or magazine article. Now in the article I read it dealt
with an event that happened in two thousand and one. There was a Taiwanese Politian that was

recovering from a failed reelection, in the wake of that a sex tape came out. The way that this happened
was that a so called friend had put up security cameras in her house in various intimate places like the in
the bedroom and bathroom. The camera captured a forty seven minute long segment of very explicate
sexual acts. According to the media the partner in these acts was a married man. With that being
known, adultery is looked down very poorly by the general public, a political leader is also supposed to
be a role model as well as a leader. As myself and my peers in this class are too young to remember the
Clinton scandal but that was the first thing that came to mind when hearing of this.
As all things like this do in the twenty first century it went completely viral. There was no
stopping it. But how does censorship affect his? The video was made into disks by people who had
access to it. This now dvd was being sold absolutely everywhere. So the people who think they have
power over other people just like themselves decided that this tape was to be outlawed. Anyone who
was found selling or distributing it was going to be in big trouble. The government thought that the most
likely population to be burning and producing the movie was college students. So a poll was taken with
one hundred and ninety seven communications students. Several questions were asked about the video
and who viewed it and how they viewed it.
Surprisingly fifty four percent actually admitted to watching the video in its whole. Now I believe
that that is al over number because of the fast that its an Asian country and not in the states. The
complete moral infrastructure over there is a world different. Yet this lower than expected percentage
can also contribute to the success of the censorship that took place.
