Bride of Envy
On the 3rd night of November the play Bride of Envy written and directed by Sheree
Dennie Edward, produced by Remnants of Gideon.

Upon entering the hall there was a long

table set with glass wear and arrangements. This was supposed to be the head table for the bridal
party.
The play opens with Carol and her mother sitting in the living room. Then enters Qhea
saying she is about too leave and then Carol starts laughing about the time Qhea went out with a
practically empty gas tank and was unable to get home, Qhea then leaves the room, They then
discuss Carols daughter; Macy, who has evidently been absent from their lives for a period of
time. Carol and her mothers conversation then escalate to an argument for the mother is
withholding information as to the where about of Macy and what is she doing. Qhea then enters
and the conversation stops instantly the Carol Mother leaves, Qhea asks why is Carol so hung up
about Macy and that she should see her as a substitute daughter. The scene ends.
The lights come up and Qhea is sitting on a chair. Then enters Cliff the estate manager he
is looking for Carol but Qhea said she went out. Then Qhea proceeds to flirt with Cliff who is
obviously an older man who is not interested in her. Yet she still tries very hard to get his
attention then she mentions his son Rasheed whom she just might pursue for he seems to be a
younger. Cliff then gives her a letter to give to Carol. Qhea inspects the letter and realize that it is
from Macy and gets angry and destroys the letter. Then a scene change shows Qhea on the phone
with someone it is her mother who is demanding money. Then after that the phone rings again
and this time its Macy calling for her mother. Qhea talks to her obviously upset that Macy is
calling when Macy gives Qhea a number to take down she doesnt write it down.

Then carol enters and Qhea request money to pay for her U.W.I. applications. Carol
gives her an A.T.M. card and the pin to go and withdraw some money.
Then carol leaves and goes to put away some groceries. Then carols sister Kay
enters and sees Qhea talking to herself and calls her out. Kay has obvious hate towards
Qhea for she thinks that Qhea is mooching off of carol and that she should go bask to the
life she lived previously. Qhea storms out Kay stands there talking to herself. Carol then
enters and they talk. Then Cliff walks in and hands Carol a letter. She opens it and sees
that it is from Macy saying that she will be visiting soon and that sur has a surprise for
her. In all the excitement she and Cliff share an intense moment and she asks him out.
They then share a sweet embrace and the scene ends.
