No baby gitls have been born, officially, on American soil before Rebecca awas born in 1892.
And then, there is Erica.
Roger has been reading up on mytholgy regarding vampires, werewolves and other beasts. Thus his
interest in the macabre and Nigel Blackwells works. Primarily to cure Rebecca but also to rid the
family of the curse. He will do wahtever it takes.
Born into a family that has the werewolf curse upon them. Many of these hereditary curses are
alleged to go back thousands of years and usually stem from something horrible that occurred in the
family bloodline causing that family to be cursed. A powerful shaman could have applied the curse
to the family. The only way known to remove this curse is to end the family line.
If not a powerful Shaman can revert the curse.
A werewolf is an individual who have been cursed (usually a family curse) or bitten by another
werewolf. They are involuntary participants in the werewolf curse. These unlucky souls are
believed to have little or no control over their shape shifting ability to transform from human-to-

werewolf. Cursed werewolves are subject to natural phases of the moons lunar cycle. Once the
subject has changed into wolf form the subjects mind blacks out and they will not remember much,
if anything, of the details of the night before. The instincts of the animal take over and control the
actions of the beast.
This has been explained to Erica by Roger for ages.
So, yeah, Roger is allowed to go out and party while Erica needs to be under lock and key and
study. Officially, theres only one daughetr of the Vanes, Erica, and her future must be guarded.
Rebecca is kept in the estate cellars. The urges of Rebecca at full moon are catered by Bradley Grey
who bring dates to visit her...
Erica dreads the time she reaches majority. Twenty one seems a number not alligned with luck if
youre a Vane.
Rebeccas first bite was her dear brother, though. And he has been having trouble covering the
traces of his nighttime outings. Only by having family friend Jack Oriel Brady at his side to cover
up whatever happens has he been able to function properly, sort of, in academy and social life. A
trail of bodies line his way.

The Kikuyu told me a strange tale concerning the Mountain of the Black Wind. This desolate
peak is supposed to be inhabited by a terrible god, who unleashes a black wind which brings
pestilence, famine, and death in its wake. The face of this god is said to be depicted as a great
bloody tongue.
This god is served by a priesthood known as the Servants of the Bloody Tongue. They
propitiate their god through abominable rites, which supposedly include human sacrifice, the
victims having been abducted from surrounding villages. The leader of these miscreants is said to
be a woman, chosen at birth and tutored in the practice of foul arts and magicks by the god.
The Kikuyu were unwilling to take me to the Mountain of the Black Wind, but they told me that it
lies north of the great mountain and east of a large lake. I have no doubt that someday a missionary
from the Church will bring enlightenment to that tormented land.
Now, Erica and Roger wil do whatever they can to get to travel to Lesser Edale, England and if
need be - the dark continent.
According to Roger, theres a rumour about a witch burning in the 14th century thats behind the
family curse.
