Advant Power Connect AC450

Operate IT Advant Power Connect AC450

provides you with a unique object-based integration of process data from AC450 controllers
with Advant Power Control software, developed
for power plant specific applications. By using
Advant Power Connect AC450 you will save
time and money in engineering, operation and
maintenance of your plant.
Advant Power Connect AC450 automatically
provides standard faceplates, object display, object alarm list, object event list, analyze display,
graphic elements and object trend display for the
following objects of the AC450 controller:
Unidirectional drive C2PB
Two-speed drive C3PB
Solenoid valve C3PV
Motor operated valve with and without operation, C3PMV and IND3MV
Selector 2 and 3 objects, C2SEL and C3SEL
Group control CFG with sequence SEQ
Adaptive controller PIDDCX
Once the functional units have been created in
the Control Builder all these predefined standards will be available in System 800xA Operations.
Please note that the data connectivity itself is
provided by the product OperateIT AC400 Connect, which also supports the functions analog
input AI and binary input DI.
Thus, used together with 800xA Operations and
OperateIT AC400 Connect, Advant Power
AC450 Connect enables your existing and upcoming AC450 installation to easily and efficiently draw benefit from the information integration delivered by the Aspect Object technology within System 800xA.
Efficient Engineering
Any of the listed objects, created in the AC450
controller, is automatically available on the operator station. This means that you get one-time
entry and update for your objects in the system.
If you have an existing network with AC450
controllers and Advant Power Control, install
System 800xA, start the automatic upload of all
objects and they will be fully available in 800xA
Operations without further engineering. Display

drawing is then easily done using the automatically generated objects.

Operator Workplace
The Operator Workplace allows direct and fast
access to specific functions, such as general
alarm and event lists, trend displays and other
object aspects available in the system
Faceplates
The operator controls
the plant from faceplates by changing the
control modes and by
setting set points or
output values. Faceplates are designed per
object type and have
three different views
with varying amount
of process information: standard, reduced
and extended
The standard faceplates provide direct
access to the object
display and to the
object trend; the extended faceplate additionally
provides access to the object alarm and object
event list. As an example the graphic above
shows the standard faceplate for a PID controller in alarm.
Graphic elements
The graphic elements are used to build the dynamic part of the process graphics. The following graphic elements are provided:
Binary control drives
Valve, breaker, switch, conveyer, fan flap,
motor, press reducer, pump, 3-way valve
Binary input signals
Arrow, circle, lamp, flame, and text. The
symbols provided for the drives of binary
control may also be used.
Analog control drives
Valve, flap
Selectors, group, sequence, and PID control
Elements showing the main states and values of the object

An additional letter next to the symbol shows the

most important mode of the object according to
a predefined, proven priority list. The example
below shows a valve with an A for automatic
mode in the states Closed, intermediate position
and Open.

Closed

Intermed.

Open

Critical states, such as safety conditions, fault, or

discrepancy are furthermore clearly indicated by
color change or a blinking object.
Object Display
The Object Display gives the user easy access to
all process information of the object. In order to
safeguard your investment in operator training,
the Object Displays have the same information
and layout as previous Advant operator workplaces from ABB.
Object Trend
A real time trend display with a pre-configured
template is available for the analog process object.

Object Alarm and Event List

A pre-configured alarm list is available for each
object in the AC450 controllers listing all its
alarms. The templates define for example the
available columns, sorting order, coloring and
sounds of each priority. The template may be
edited to specific operator needs.
The same applies to the object event list, which
presents all events of an object, not only its
alarms.
Analyze Display
The Analyze Display shows all input and output
states of an object, thus providing a good overview as needed in the commissioning phase.
Status List
Status List is a function typically used in the
start-up and commissioning phase of the plant.
Status of the process objects can be searched for
and verified via the quick list.
System Status Viewer
The System Status Viewer is used to ease the
work in the commissioning phase, in maintenance and faultfinding. It shows the status of the
control equipment, such as controller nodes,
communication links, peripheral equipment and
I/O boards.
