It s in state statute but Vida and I would love to get rid of it as it s an administrative pain to do every year (and unfunded mandate) and when HSD was big
on outreach we never saw any surge in SNAP applications as a result of it anyway

Vida and I talked about for next year s session we will want to introduce legislation for updating the state Public Assistance Act with SNAP language
(statute still references the federal Food Stamp Act of 1977 which doesn t exist anymore) and if that statute is open see if we can get this sentence deleted by
accident at the same time (probably the legislature that got this law passed would catch on)

Really? So we can enroll more people on SNAP?

Sent and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to Tax and Revenue Department for signature. The purpose of the MOU is to allow SNAP program
information to be sent to New Mexicans that are receiving a tax refund.
