Acapulco is a worldwide famous holiday resort that rose to popularity in the 1950s, when all the

Hollywood stars and worlds millionaires were booking holidays here, enjoying both the fine beaches
and the terrific nightlife. The popularity of the resort has not dimmed and it is still a great getaway
location, although nowadays, Mexicans are the ones who make up the most of the tourist population.
Reaching Acapulco is an easy task if you have a booked holiday, as the Juan N. Alvarez International
Airport has daily flights that come especially from the United States, filled with tourists which either
come from the States themselves or who came from Europe and had to stop over in the US. Starting
with April and up until November, some of the worlds most famous cruise ships are also harboring in
Acapulco, at the International Transatlantic Port Lieutenant Jos Azueta. Besides the daily cruise ships
that show up in the port, you might have the opportunity to spot MS Queen Victoria or Crystal
Harmony, which make up for a great photo opportunity.
Acapulco is ready to provide you a unique experience in terms of transportation. You might have never
ridden into a themed bus before, but thanks to the private operators of buses, you can take a ride into a
comic book themed bus or into an adult themed bus. Be sure to use the yellow-painted buses if you
want to visit the most important tourist areas of Acapulco, spread around the coastline.
Acapulco is currently divided into two different areas, the only formal limit being the Papagayo River.
The northern area of the city is where you want to go if you want to step in the tracks of John Wayne or
Johnny Weissmuller, some of the stars who spent time and even owned hotels here. The northern
Acapulco is the Tradicional area, being filled with classic, Mexican-themed hotels and restaurants that
you will love.
If you are interested in the newly developed area of Acapulco, you want to be in the southern area of
the bay. Here, newer hotels are ready to be hosts for tourists and overall, better conditions are
available. The buses and Colectivo taxis are now replaced by cars, golf carts and even limousines.
Important areas of Acapulco are present in the southern area of the city, including Punta Diamante and
Puerto Marques.
Acapulco is home to several unique attractions, the main one being the nightlife which gives tourists
access to an endless cycle of fun while in their vacation. A unique event is represented by the La
Quebrada Cliff Divers, where fearless divers jump into the water from 40-meter tall cliffs. If you want to
rent a boat or benefit from another water service, you can just turn around and find a solution, as
Acapulco offers plenty of them. If you are fond of history, you can pay a visit to the San Diego Fort, a
building originally built in 1616 and rebuilt in 1783. You can book a holiday to Acapulco and you will
always find something to keep you entertained.
