NIFT 2014 Syllabus: NIFT entrance exam 2014 is scheduled to take place on February 9 and

February 23 2014. NIFT 2014 entrance exam will test the candidates skill, knowledge and
aptitude for the program opted.
There will be negative marking of 0.25 for each incorrect answer in the objective type test. 1
mark will be awarded for each correct answer.
The language of the entrance exam will be English only.
Candidates must reach their respective examination centers 30 minutes before the
commencement of the NIFT 2014 entrance exam.
NIFT 2014 Syllabus consists of GAT (General Ability Test), CAT (Creative Ability Test),
Situation Test and Group Discussion/Personal Interview.
NIFT 2014 Syllabus for General Ability Test (GAT) (B. Des and M. Des) programs will consist
of 5 sections:
1. Quantitative Ability
2. Communication Ability
3. English Comprehension
4. Analytical Ability
5. General Knowledge and Current Affairs
Total number of questions in NIFT 2014 Entrance Exam Syllabus for GAT (B. Des and M.
Des) programs is 150 and the duration for same will be 2 hours.
Quantitative Ability: This section will test students quantitative ability. It consists of questions
on Addition, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Rate of Interest, Percentage, Work and Task,
Distance and Ratio and Proportion.
Communication Ability: The section will test candidates language ability in day to day
communication in English. It comprises questions on synonyms, antonyms, words with
corresponding meanings, , correct spellings, one word substitutes, singular, plural, idioms and
phrases.
English Comprehension: This will test candidates ability to understand situation and basic
English language.

Analytical Ability: The section will test inference and logic of the candidates from the given
information.
General Knowledge and Current Affairs: This will test candidates awareness regarding the
current affairs and general knowledge.

MFM) consists of 5 sections:
1. Quantitative Ability
2. Communication Ability and English Comprehension
3. Analytical and Logical Ability
4. General Knowledge and Current Affairs
5. Case Study

Total number of questions in GAT for M.FTech, B.FTech and MFM programs is 150 and the
duration for same will be 3 hours.

Case Study: The test will be based on a situation of an industry environment. It will test
candidates managerial ability.
NIFT 2014 Syllabus also consists of Creative Ability Test (CAT). NIFT 2014 CAT will take
place for B. Des and M. Des programs only.
CAT will test candidates intuition skill, power of observation, design ability and innovation in
development of a concept. Most importantly it will test the creative and innovative use of colors
and illustration skills of the candidates.
Shortlisted candidates who have cleared written examination will then appear for the last round
of the NIFT 2014 entrance exam. It will consist of Situation Test/Group Discussion/Personal
Interview.
