2. The Present Continuous

1. Pentru a exprima o aciune care a nceput nainte de momentul de timp actual, aciune care
este n desfurare la momentul vorbirii i care se va ncheia undeva n viitor:

2. Pentru a exprima o aciune temporar:
I usually drive to work, but today I'm taking the bus.
3. Pentru a exprima un aranjament definitiv n viitorul apropiat:
What are you having for lunch?
4. Pentru a exprima o aciune viitoare, n special folosind verbe de micare ca: to come, to
arrive, to go, to leave:
Our son is arriving from Bucharest today.
5. Pentru a exprima o aciune care se repet n mod frecvent cu scopul de a scoate n eviden
enervarea, iritarea, sarcasmul. n aceste cazuri verbele se combin cu adverbe ca: always,
constantly, continually, for ever:
He is always showing off in front of his friends.
6. Cteodat, n propoziii de timp sau condiionale secundare:
The boy will study in his room while his mother is cooking dinner.
7. mpreun cu verbele to get sau to grow, pentru a exprima o tranziie dintr-o stare n alta:

3. The Past Tense Simple


Form
Affirmative: I/you/we/they/he/she/it fell.
Negative: I/you/he/she/we/they/it did not fell.
I/you/he/she/we/they/it didn't fell.
Interrogative: Did I/you/he/she/we/they/it fell?
Negative-Interrogative: Did I/you/he/she/we/they/it not fell?
Didn't I/you/he/she/we/they/it fell?

Use
1. Pentru a exprima o aciune sau o stare care a luat sfrit complet la un moment dat sau ntr-un
anume timp trecut:

Yesterday I ate soup.


2. Pentru a exprima un obicei din trecut, sau o aciune repetat n trecut:
My father drank two glasses of beer a day. (habit)
We went to the museum every week. (repeated action)
3. n vorbirea indirect, pentru a exprima un timp prezent din cadrul vorbirii directe:
"He is an engineer" the boy said. The boy said he was an engineer.
4. Pentru a introduce cuvintele cuiva n Vorbirea Direct:
"Are you my son?", father asked.
5. n propoziii condiionale, pentru a exprima Prezentul Condiional:
I woul help you if I were with you.
6. Dup verbul wish sau dup if/as though; if only; would rather(cnd subiecii sunt diferii);
it's (high) time:
I wish I were in fifth grade.
He is shouting as if he saw a ghost.
The teacher would rather we didn't make so much noise during the class.
7. Pentru a exprima o aciune viitoare, ntr-o propoziie temporal, aciune simultan cu o alt
aciune exprimat de Future-in-the-Past:

4. The Past Tense Continuous


Form
Affirmative: I/he/she/it was shouting.
You/we/they were shouting.
Negative:
I/he/she/it was not shouting.
I/he/she/it wasn't shouting.
You/we/they were not shouting.
You/we/they weren't shouting.
Interrogative: Was I/he/she/it shouting?
Were you/we/they shouting?
Negative-Interrogative: Was I/he/she/it not shouting?

Use
1. Pentru a exprima o aciune n progres la un anumit timp n trecut:

2. Pentru a indica faptul c o aciune avea loc la momentul n care altceva, mai important i mai
dramatic s-a ntmplat:
While he was watching TV, she fell off the stairs.
3. Pentru a arta faptul c dou aciuni aveau loc n acelai timp n trecut:
While you were playing with your brother, I was learning.
4. n Vorbirea Indirect, pentru a exprima un Prezent Continuu din Vorbirea Direct:
"My mother is watching TV now" he said. He said that his mother was watching TV.
5. Pentru a semnala un aranjament din viitor, vzut dintr-un moment trecut:

5. The Present Perfect Simple


Form
Affirmative: I/you/we/they have come.
He/She/it has come.
Negative:
I/you/we/they have not come.
I/you/we/they haven't come.

He/She/it hasn't come.
Interrogative: Have I/you/we/they come?
Has he/she/it come?
Negative-Ingerrogative: Have I/you/we/they not come?

Use
1. Atunci cnd nu mai suntem interesai de timpul cnd aciunea din trecut a avut loc ci cnd ne
intereseaz rezultatul ei n prezent:
We have seen the Colloseum.
2. Atunci cnd aciunea din trecut continu n prezent i, poate va continua i n viitor:
I have learnt in this University for two years.

3. Pentru a exprima aciuni svrite n trecutul apropiat:


I have just finished my homework.
4. mpreun cu cuvinte ce denot o perioad incomplet de timp: today, this week, this month,
this year, all day, all night, this morning, etc.:
Today I have broken two dishes.
5. mpreun cu how long, atunci cnd ne referim la o perioad de timp care s-a extins n prezent:
How long has he worked there?
6. mpreun cu adverbe ar cror timp este nedefinit: ever, never, often, seldom, always, several
times:
I have never eaten an apple.
7. mpreun cu adverbele already i yet. Ambele apar n propoziii interogative:
a) Have you eaten yet?
b) Have you washed yourself already?
8. mpreun cu since i for:
I have known you since you were a little child.
I have been here for an hour.
9. n cazul aciunilor trecute al cror moment nu este menionat:
Has she slept?
10. n ziare i difuzri radio pentru a introduce o aciune care va fi descris n Simple Past Tense:
A horrible thing has happened. A man fell of his house yesterday.
11. Pentru a exprima o aciune viitoare, ntr-o propoziie temporal antecedent unei altei aciuni
exprimat de un timp viitor.
