FRIDAY & SATURDAY SYMPOSIUM

FRIDAY
Craig Zunka DDS, a Past President of the HDA, will
cover a comprehensive approach to TMJ diagnosis
and treatment beginning with ini!al exam and stan
dard of care, xrays, MRI and Doppler occulta!on. In
addi!on, he will show the value and use of comple
mentary modali!es for diagnosis and for treatment.
Dr. Zunka will demonstrate how to treat (2) two TMJ pa!ents through
Phase l Treatment:
1. Myofascial pain and dysfunc!on
2. Anterior disc displacement
He will discuss the use of tradi!onal TMJ treatment, including mouth
appliance and diet modifica!on. He will explain how to incorporate
holis!c diagnosis and treatment, including the use of Cranial
Osteopathy, Kinesiology, Homeopathy, vitamin and mineral supple
menta!on, Biomodulator, anodyne infrared technology, cold laser,
hormones, acupuncture, biomagne!sm, Lymes, yeast, eyes, and
allergies.
SATURDAY
James Kennedy DDS
TMJ for the General Prac!!oner
This presenta!on will cover basic TMJ diagnos!c prin
ciples to incorporate into your oral exam. Dental signs
and symptoms and oral condi!ons that provide clues
to underlying TMJ problems will be covered for both
adults and children. The progression of TMJ dysfunc
!on from infancy through adulthood will be explained with strate
gies given to intercept problems early in development. Wai!ng to
treat will only allow the problems to worsen.
The explana!on of the interrela!onship between TMJ dysfunc!on
and obstruc!ve sleep apnea (OSA) will be covered. Many pa!ents
have both condi!ons. Examples of how to priori!ze treatment and
resolve both problems for the pa!ent will be shown
Stephen Broderson DDS
Stabiliza!on Modali!es for the TMJ/Myofascial
Pain Pa!ent
Stabilizing the TMJ/myofascial pain pa!ent requires
establishing and then maintaining a physiological
mandibular posi!on. In most cases, this three di
mensional posi!on is developed by reposi!oning the mandible
down and forward relieving pressure in the TMJ, and through pas
sive tension on the suspensory ligaments of the mandible, provides
for balance/health of the cranial sacral system. This presenta!on
will present the following:
1. Upper/lower arch development with soldered wire appliances,
in conjunc!on with a May Pivotal appliance.
2. Sequencing anterior/posterior teeth reconstruc!on.
3. Sequencing treatment for the denture pain pa!ent with severe
lost VD.
4. An overdenture case presenta!on of treatment for a pa!ent
with severe pathological mandibular posi!on with ul!mate
effects on gait and posture.

Mechanisms & Applica!ons in Mercury

Intoxica!on & Detoxifica!on
Christopher Shade PhD has developed specific clin

ical techniques for measuring mercury exposure and

used his understanding of mercury and glutathione
chemistry to design a unique system with analy!cal
approaches, diagnos!c tools and detoxifica!on
strategies for mercury intoxica!on. With his patented technology for
mercury specia!on analysis, he founded Quicksilver Scien!fic, offer
ing products that incorporate a unique system for detoxifica!on which
repairs and then maximizes the bodys natural detoxifica!on system.

Gerry Smith DDS, a Past President of the HDA, is a

recognized interna!onal authority on cranio

mandibular soma!c disorders with a focus on re

clinical research has uncovered several of the major missing links that
focus on the dental whole body connec!on regarding the treatment
of cancer, chronic pain, and soma!c structural instability. HIs Work

tal problems, evaluate the most effec!ve natural remedies, and
resolve the problems noninvasively

Cementa!on ProtocolsFrom A to Z
Rolando Nunez DDS, Manager of Clinical Affairs for

BISCO Inc., has worked in the Research and Deve

order to achieve a posi!ve clinical outcome.
In this handson presenta!on, Dr. Nunez will detail the differences be
tween indirect restora!ve materials and the op!mum ways to sur

the den!st should bring magnifica!on loupes to the Workshop.
