with our aunt and uncle. They live in
the countryside and one day they went
for a long walk and had a picnic next
to a lake. They had a lovely day but
when they got back to the house, Peter
couldnt find his watch. They went back
to the lake to look for it but he never
found it.

155

Woman Has your other brother ever lost

anything?
Girl
Michael? Yes he lost his jacket last year.
He was on a plane and he took it off
because he was too hot. He put it under
his seat and when they got off the plane,
he forgot it was there. It was a shame
because it was nearly new. When he
got home he called the airport but they
didnt have it.

caf but it was too late.

work. But I cant think of anything else.
Woman And what about your best friend, Anna?
Girl
Oh, poor Anna, yes. When we went to
Italy with the school, she left her camera
on the bus. It was annoying for her
because she couldnt take any pictures
when she was there. And it was a
present from her grandparents too. Now
its not a problem because she can take
pictures with her phone.

Narrator Part 3. Listen and look. There is one
example. What did each person go
and buy yesterday?
Woman Have you got everything ready for your
camping trip, Kate?
Girl
I think so. We all met at Davids house on
Thursday to talk about it. There were lots
of things we still needed and we had
to get them before we went because
where were going to camp there are no
shops, and its miles from the nearest
town. I went shopping with my mum
yesterday and bought a picnic box to
keep the food in.
Narrator Can you see the letter B? Now you
listen and write a letter in each box.
Woman What did Jim have to get?
Girl
Well, Anna wanted to take real plates
and cups with us. But everyone else
decided they were too heavy. So Jim
went to buy paper cups and plates from
the supermarket. He bought the kind of
thing you have at parties. Theyre rather
thin. I hope theyre going to be strong
enough!

Woman I suppose David helped, didnt he?

Girl
Yes, he went to get something important
too. We almost forgot to put a torch on
the list. Lots of us have got torches but
no ones got a really good one. If theres
a problem at night if someones ill or
if we lose something were going to
need a good one. So Davids gone into
town to get that today.
Woman Did anyone else have to go shopping?
Girl
No, I dont think so. Oh, yes Jenny
bought something too. We think the
weathers going to be OK but you can
never be sure. So Jenny went into town
and bought two big umbrellas so we
can still do things even if it rains.

of water, because we have to take all
our drinking water with us. There are no
houses or farms near the place where
were going to camp so everyones
going to have to carry some in their
rucksack.
Woman What about Sally? Did she have to get
anything?
Girl
No, she didnt have time. But her brother
helped. He went to buy a new map
because the one weve got is really old.
We decided it was important to have a
good map. Thats all Simon bought, but
he had to go to a special shop to get it.

Hey, John! What are you doing here?

Daisy! Hi! Im just taking a walk. Wow!
So youre camping here?

is one of the best things about camping!
