OVERPOPULATION

In main cities of most of the countries a phenomenon occurs that is

known as overpopulation. This happens because for different reasons
people from smaller towns decide to migrate to urban areas in search of
employment and a better life style for their children. As a consequence,
urban areas are becoming overpopulated. Overpopulation produces a lot
of secondary problems and three of them are: shortage of housing
spaces, deficiency in essential services and the overcrowding of the
transport systems.
In the first place, the main consequence of overpopulation is the
shortage of housing space. This happens because the more people that
move to one place, the more space is required for them to live and green
zones are being sacrificed to be able to build more housing projects. For
example, in China lives a population of 1,343,239,923 in an area of
9,596,961 km2 and the amount of houses built to accommodate all
these people has made green zones in certain cities of the country very
scarce, if not at all absent. One sequel of this is also the pollution that
generates all this large number of people. With regard to housing is
difficult to find a solution but if they should have a better control with
waste and trash the bad impact of the overpopulation would reduce.
Another important effect is the deficiency in essential services.
Overpopulation is the factor by which the increased speed at which we
are consuming the planet's resources today, sources such as oil. To
combat this, governments need to do more research on alternative and
renewable energy supplies so that we do not use up all the oil reserves.
Another negative effect of overpopulation is how some countries suffer
from a lack of basic necessities such as food. Here, an answer could be
greater international cooperation so that countries with a food surplus
donate what they do not need to the less fortunate countries. One
example is Angola a country that in the last year have increases their
economy thanks to the oil source, despite of tis Angola is a very poor
country suffering from food deficit to its population., is running out as
the basis of its economy. I think, each country must raise awareness of
non-renewable resources such as water; everyone should take care of
their natural reserves drinking water source because it is a vital resource
for the survival of human beings.
Increasing in population generates problems in the public transport
system because it was developed with a certain number of customers in
mind, while the reality has turned differently than what was planned.
Similarly, highways have also collapsed, which has made automobile
traffic maddening. One example is in the worlds financial capital New

York; here the overcrowding problem is so serious that people did not
know what is the best and fastest way to move around the city because
both the transport systems and the streets are clogged with people. A
very interesting solution should be to create a new public transportation
system, efficient as existing this may offer some other benefit as food or
it may be a service only for long distances, thereby they can divide the
number of people using the subway, and also some people using car
should feel attracted to this system and with this the roads could
decongest.
The fact that overpopulation occurs in a city affects all citizens: their
economy and the life style, urban areas are facing lot of problems due to
overpopulation. However they are many solutions to deal with these
problems. If government put into practice once one solution there would
be no problem that some people wants to live in the city, as I mentioned
before the overpopulation has many side effects, some of this are the
shortage of housing spaces, deficiency in essential services and the
overcrowding of the transport systems, apart from the proposed
solutions may be many more, the idea is that everyone work with these
solutions and thus curb this problem that affects us all.
