Divergent

The movie Divergent is based on Veronica Roths Novel. It has two
sequels called Insurgent and Allegiant. On the beginning of the
movie, the protagonist Tris (Shailene Woodley) has to make a choice
that will decide her future. The dystopian society where she lives is
divided in factions. When each child reaches the age of 16 they go
to an initiation were they decide which faction they want to be part
of. There are five factions: Dauntless, Candor, Amity, Abnegation
and Erudite. Each of the factions has a quality that describes them.
The Dauntless are the ones that overcome fear and protect the
society. Candor members are the one that only speak the truth.
Amity members are always peaceful and they are in charge of the
harvests of the society. On the other hand we have Abnegation that
are the selfless ones and run the political system of the society. Last
but not least we have the Erudites who are the intelligent ones and
are mostly the scientists of the society. Tris comes from an
Abnegation family and she has to face the most difficult decision
ever, which faction she wants to belong to. Tris is diagnosed as
Divergent which meant she was apt for Dauntless, Abnegation or
Erudite faction and Divergent people where a threat to the system
as the government could not control them. Tris finally decides to
move from Abnegation to Dauntless and thats when she meets the
love of her life, Tobias Eaton (Theo James). Tris has to surpass the
other Dauntless initiates because if she doesnt they will sent her to
the factionless. As a member of Dauntless and also Divergent, Tris
discovers a lot of information about the flaws of the system and will
see as from one day to another the system starts collapsing and
also everything that surrounds her.
I think Divergent is a great movie because it was very similar to the
book, there was maybe a maximum of 5 scenes they cut out but is
not like it changed the whole meaning of the content. I also think
Shailene Woodley and Theo James made a perfect couple for this
film and their selection as protagonists was successful. I would
totally recommend the movie and cant wait for Insurgent to come
out the next March 2015
