Summary of the story

Background information

Andy plays with his favorite toy, Woody the

cowboy doll, just before he goes to summer camp.
Andy rips Woodys arm and he cant take the toy
with him to camp.

Toy Story 2 is a Disney-Pixar animated movie.

It was released in 1999 and is the sequel to
Toy Story. It was Pixars third full-length movie
production and was the first movie to be created,
produced, and shown in cinemas digitally.

While Andy is away, his mom has a yard sale and

Woody accidentally ends up with the toys for sale.
Woodys toy friends watch from Andys room as a
man steals Woody from the yard sale.
The man takes Woody to his apartment, where
Woody meets two other dolls, cowgirl Jessie and
Stinky Pete. He discovers that he was famous years
ago and was in a TV show with Jessie and Stinky
Pete. Jessie explains that the man, Al, wants to sell
all of them to a toy museum in Japan for a lot of
money. If not, they will stay in storage forever.
Meanwhile, Andys other toys discover that the
man is Al, of Als Toy Store, and they decide to
rescue Woody. They follow Al into the apartment
and find Woody, but he does not want to go home
with them. Stinky Pete has persuaded him that
Andy no longer cares about him.
When the others have left, Woody changes his
mind, but its too late. Al returns to take Woody,
Jessie, and Stinky Pete to the airport. However,
Buzz and the other toys follow them. Buzz frees
Woody and Jessie from the case on the conveyor
belt, leaving Stinky Pete behind.

The movie replicates the world created in Toy

Story, but adds new characters, such as Jessie
the cowgirl, and locations, such as Als toy store.
Technological advances helped the filmmakers to
bring even greater realism to the sequel.
The film was nominated for an Academy Award
for Best Original Song (When She Loved Me). It won
a Golden Globe for Best Film and two Grammy
Awards for Best Song (When She Loved Me) and
Best Musical Album for Children.

Did you know ?

There are many inside jokes in the movie.
For example, when Hamm flips through
TV channels, all the images are from Pixar
commercials and short films.
The show Woody starred in, Woodys
Roundup, is based on popular childrens
cowboy shows from the 1950s, such as
Howdy Doody and Hopalong Cassidy.
