New Light Rail Car Design

The Kinkisharyo P3010 rail cars have extra large decal showing where the designated
bicycle/luggage/stroller area is, and makes it clear to passengers where such items are to be placed.
The rail car is only being tested internally on the Metro Green Line at this time.
The first deployment of the new rail cars will go to the Metro Gold and Expo Lines.
All 78 Kinkisharyo P3010 rail cars in the base order are scheduled to be in service by January 2017

Triple Bike Rack Legislation

A revised California Vehicle Code

now allows Metro to install 3
position bike racks on 40' buses
only.

Metro is reviewing and considering

a plan to install 3 position bike racks
on all remaining 40' buses.

The new 3 position bike rack is

equipped with dual torsion springs
to assist bike rack users and
minimize "deadweight" lifting.

Metro is taking delivery of 550 New

Flyer buses - a production cut is
scheduled to start with unit 6014.
